  2. Are those two for real? They gotta be kidding. How could anyone that quaint survive in today's world? I bet that kid gets beat up every day. They sure are a pair of dorks.

  5. There are other blogs on the web, jimm. I'm sure that more than one might meet with your approval. Please, attend to them, and leave us here to our dotage.

  6. The least miserable among them appear to be those who turn to dotage, and entirely lose their memories; these meet with more pity and assistance, because they want many bad qualities which abound in others.

  8. Finally! I got the video to play. Something went awry with my Flash Player yesterday.

"Over the River" is a joyous song.

Until now, I didn't know who Lydia Maria Child was. Apparently, she was "a somebody" back in her day, but her name is not a household name now.

She does really look like a sourpuss, doesn't she? Was she a happy person or all wound up all the time? Activists typically are in a state of perpetual rage.

  9. Come to think of it she look like a teabag.

  10. That was the most flattering picture of Miss Child I could find. The one presented in the video, taken at a later time no doubt, shows her to be more formidable.

I thought the video, itself, was hilarious. It MUST have been done "tongue-in-cheek," because NOBODY talks that way in real life, do they?

    Good Heavens! I hope not!

Nevertheless, a lot of good information about a minor historical figure was presented, so there is much to learn from that quaintly cheerful presentation.

The video, itself, and the story of Lydia Maria Child are far more interesting than the song, which we used to sing in elementary school, and even in Sunday school back in the kinder, gentler, more innocent and naive era in which I was born and raised.

Anyway, I think it beats talking about Ebola, Obama, the ACA, the IRS, Benghazi, Islamaniacs, Unemployment, Illegal Immigration, Food Stamps, Closing Hospitals, Doctors Deserting their Once-Noble Profession in Droves, Marxicrats, and how much the Left hates the Right and vice versa.

  11. I've decided we're going to keep little Jimm Boy around and make him our mascot, even though he's anything but "OK."

Be nice to him. He's emblematic of a great many of the more objectionable characteristics leftists bring to the realm of political discourse and debate.

His toxic presence, ill will, sour disposition and warped personality do much to aid "our" cause, and help prove "our" case. Horrible examples tend to do that

THEREFORE, I recommend being very polite to Jimm. That will either mellow him a bit, which would be lovely, or more likely help his odious behavior stand out like the proverbial Sore Thumb to be counted against the Left.

Ducky, however, has worn out his welcome here. His act has grown tired, limp and stale, and it leaves a bad odor as well, so Ducky is O-U-T, unless he decides to abandon his present perpetual flippant, sarcastic attack mode, and starts to behave like a civilized person. We are always ready to forgive -- but never to forget -- here at FreeThinke's Blog.

  14. What we NEED is to learn to behave, ourselves, with better taste and decorum. Be less abrasive, less abusive, less vulgar, and aim for a modicum of subtlety and good taste in our denunciations, excoriations, and analytical remarks.

In other words take this timeworn advice to heart:

    DON'T GET MAD, GET EVEN.

And try not to be blatantly obvious.

This is part of the reason I often write in verse. It takes some discipline and must be done with a cool, analytical approach. I don't recommend it for everyone, but it's so much more personally rewarding than addressing someone you disagree with as "You filthy piece of shit," or "You fucking moron, or "You idiot," etc.

  15. How now, Thersites! what lost in the labyrinth of
thy fury! Shall the elephant Ajax carry it thus? He
beats me, and I rail at him: O, worthy satisfaction!
would it were otherwise; that I could beat him,
whilst he railed at me. 'Sfoot, I'll learn to
conjure and raise devils, but I'll see some issue of
my spiteful execrations. Then there's Achilles, a
rare enginer! If Troy be not taken till these two
undermine it, the walls will stand till they fall of
themselves. O thou great thunder-darter of Olympus,
forget that thou art Jove, the king of gods and,
Mercury, lose all the serpentine craft of thy
caduceus, if ye take not that little, little less
than little wit from them that they have! which
short-armed ignorance itself knows is so abundant
scarce, it will not in circumvention deliver a fly
from a spider, without drawing their massy irons and
cutting the web. After this, the vengeance on the
whole camp! or rather, the bone-ache! for that,
methinks, is the curse dependent on those that war
for a placket. I have said my prayers and devil Envy
say Amen. What ho! my Lord Achilles!

    -Shakespeare, "Troilus and Cressida"

Achilles? Wasn't he the one everybody said was a heel?
