HATE WEEK IS THRIVING HAPPILY.
CARRY ON!

Breakfast Thoughts

Live through these hours, even as you dread
The hectoring and badgering you’re sure
To meet –– the harassment you must endure
With cheerful face from heart by poison fed.

Despite the sniping, sneering insults said ––
The halitosis stagnant, vile, impure ––
The air not far away is not so poor.
To find relief one has not far to tread.

And so one sees there are ways to escape
Before the churl can consummate the rape.
The mood, though, darkens, moves beyond indignant
Confronted by this spirit so malignant,
Whose neck deserves to be cracked at the nape,
Its bulging eyes each plucked out like a grape.

  1. Ok, here we go again, the way I see it is,
People like Ms. Shaw here call themselves “progressive,” and they do so not just because it’s a nicer way of saying “liberal,” which has become a dirty word in the political sense, but they believe in the Socialist party which all of the progressives love and agreed with. The difference between progressivism and socialism is a very thin line. Both believe in the distribution of America's wealth, as do the fascists and neo-fascists object to the term and . When you reduce and limit my rights and freedoms while increasing yours, or someone else’s , you are in fact using the Constitution for toilet paper.
Bottom line: When we are up against some with people in a debate or better yet in a agreement who are so convinced of their own opinions and their moral superiority, and who want to change the world, and our way of life, we can’t help but to think of Adolf Hitler
Now I could be wrong but I don't think I am. If I am, then please by all means enlighten me.

  2. This is NOT an Insult, it is my opinion.
As a lifelong conservative, I have to laugh when liberal thinks they have found the magic solution. Their notion is that "Conservative ideas are so inferior, how can any one with any sense at all have become so dumb." Their egotism is beyond understanding. I sometimes lay awake thinking what makes them so blind. Are they not aware of the wonderful life they are living, because they are living in the United States of America?
Are they not aware of the millions of people who would give their tight arm to come here to live and how hard some of them try to get here. Why would anyone want to change the way of American life? Why would anyone want to change the Constitution that we hold so dearly?
A lot of people are out for what they can get from the government these days, perhaps it’s because of this President. . And, there's no other place in the world that has more, and is giving more free stuff than America.
The American way of life is preferred to any other system anywhere in the world over all other systems, or cultures because it affords everyone freedom of choices
We have liberty and can do so many things that people in other countries can't. For example you talk about the President in a derogatory way! You can picket anyplace you care to, You can sue a person or a company if they did you an injustice. That just shows how much liberty we have because in other countries you well get killed!
Fifty or so years ago, modern conservatism did not even exist. It has had to built against a liberal headwind, from the bottom up. Even today, new developments like the tea party, or the Sarah Palin phenomenon will have to survive against a relentless barrage of criticism, not all of which is accurate or fair, by any means.. If our way of life and our liberties is displeasing to progressives, They can and do use the election process to change things. Or better yet, they can leave the country, no one is going to stop you.
But if we dumb conservatives decide to give in to there, brilliant progressives, we are doomed.
So let me say this to the Progressives, the Socialists, and the people who are disenchanted with this country are those pieces of crap wh bombed Boston. If you don’t like it here, GET THE HELL OUT!

  4. President Obama brings an educated and enlightened approach to governing, so unlike Bush and his feral gunslingers, getting us into wars so his cronies may profit.

Of course, we who have been well educated cannot expect unenlightened conservatives to understand that their time has passed.

President Obama was right, dear friends. You cling to your guns, your bibles and your hatred, but it is all slipping away.

So far, it hasn't occurred to the great majority of the participants that they can CHOOSE how they would like to respond to these fantastic overtures.

    The greatest irony so far?

Whenever I post items of beauty, refinement, enlightened thinking, encouragement, or good old-fashioned common sense, the majority respond with irrelevant mumbo jumbo or feel compelled to argue against the thesis of the day -- or try to put others down in some fashion.

When was the last time you heard anyone say, "Hey! You know I really think you've GOT something there. I never thought about it that way before. Thanks!"?

    ANSWER: Almost never.

I have come to the sad conclusion that, while we like to think we are IDEALISTS of one kind or another, in truth we are DIABOLISTS.

I still like to think that it's not necessary to follow the herd over the cliff when the stampede begins, but most seem to get caught up in the deadly magnetism of GroupThink -- i.e. MOB PSYCHOLOGY.

  9. In my humble opinion, the reason for the criticism and the insults towards Shaw Kenawe is the following.
Progressives have this socialist dream, and find us Conservatives to be repulsive because we find their dream to be more of a nightmare than a dream .
The definition of “Conservatism” is to have traditional views and values, and tending to oppose change! The US government, and that includes the First Lady should not be in the business of educating, and or dictating to the populous. If we let the government control what we eat, what will be next?
Progressives like, and especially Shaw Kenawe have this holier than thou attitude toward us Conservatives. I have spent a great deal of time reading Ms.Kenawe’s blog and I’ve seen her trash the Republicans-Conservatives and called us Rightwing fanatics, and much more. It has been said that “Ignorance is a non curable addiction, stupidity is terminal one”. In Shaw Kenawe’s case, I don’t know which of these applies. Shaw Kenawe tries to impose her illogical opinions on other people perhaps forgetting that this is supposed to be a free country and it’s people to have free ideas and opinions. . Sometimes I think Liberals such as Shaw Kenawe are not playing with a full deck. The “Progressive’s is definitely a party of ignorance, and some people are just too stupid to know that they are a part of it.

“It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.”

  14. Oh no, Ducky. This is an experiment in allowing people just to be themselves with neither censure nor censorship.

THEY have the right and the ability to CHOOSE how to use the opportunity I have given them.

The results are what you see.

Ms Shaw, who is -- and will remain -- a FRIEND regardless of her opposing views, is not the subject I have chosen to single out for ridicule. That is the choice of these participants.

Just let them keep ion exposing themselves.

Eventually, they may see their reflection in the mirror for what it is -- or they may not. It's THEIR business not mine.

It's as if the floodgates have been opened.

I found it sadly depressing when AOW, who argues reasonably yet is an avowed conservative was slammed because she was not hateful enough in what she said.

Almost as if she was not qualified to post because her HQ [hate quotient] was not high enough.

Let me ask a question of your conservative commenters, one that I have tried for years to get answered.

    What is a Conservative Extremist?

We all know what you consider extreme liberals. That has been made very clear in the posts of the last few days.

But those of us on the left would like to know what a conservative extremist looks like to you.

The implication being, from the rest of the post, is opposing view points, and the author is very clear, especially any that may be progressive or liberal, are not 'protected' nor are those views valid.
    Further in the post, a question is posed;

"If we let the government control what we eat, what will be next?"

possibly clean air and water. Safe food and drugs.

Just a short stroll down memory lane recalls a time when 'no government controls'
led to unsafe food, drugs, air, water. Safe roads, clean streets, postal service, adequate sewage disposal and treatment, police service... are just small examples of 'Socialism".

The post derides 'Change' and I am wondering.....what is wrong with the changes I have noted?

These continuous threads are nothing but a flame war gone amuk. No disrespect...but it is all just more than a trifle boring.

  20. Voice of Reason... I would say that a progressive extremist is represented by people opposed to the Iraq war who said President Bush got up every morning hoping more Americans would die in in that war.

The extremists on the left were, and are represented by people that said President Bush did nothing in New Orleans just so black people could die.

They are represented by the types of people who were angry at Gov. Christie the other day because he killed a spider instead of lovingly taking it outside.

They are represented by the partisans who see a racists behind every conservative and refuse to acknowledge any personal responsibility ever for ones plight, or lot in life.

  23. okjimm , you may think that your post both here and elsewhere are cute, but I for one think they are pretty stupid, childish and irrelevant!

Referring to my commends... “this is supposed to be a free country and it’s people to have free ideas and opinions. " and "If we let the government control what we eat, what will be next?" Where I was referring to Ms. Obama’s putting her two cents into the American citizens private lives,
Your cute or wise-ass reply was “possibly clean air and water. Safe food and drugs”
You are only amplifying the point that I was making. As far as I can see, this is till America. And in America, we have the right to decide for our selves what we want to eat, and drink, what we want to weigh, and whatever. We also have what is known as Parents Rights, where a parant can also decide what is best for their children. We don’t need No Stinken First Lady to tell us that or anything else. In case you forgot, I’ll remind you that Ms. Obama was NOT elected to anything.... Thank God!

“Disrespect”.? Ok , so what? I also have the right to do that if I so choose to.
So, Michelle Obama is the most popular woman in America, and Hillary Clinton can stick it. Iv’e had it up to my neck with the two of them.
Michelle may think that she’s the Queen of America , but she’s just another Grubbing Liberal as far as I’m concerned and as far as that liar Hillary Clinton is concerned, she and her LYING husband are far from the role models I’d want my children to emulate. They are both lying crooks.
So stop being so cute, stupid, and hysterical, your acting like the warped liberal I was describing.

  24. Dave, I believe you appreciate what I am trying to do here and I thank you for that.

If we could only get past the absurdity of people from BOTH sides of the political divide thinking and saying in effect, "You disagree with me, and I disagree with you, therefore YOU are a MORON and probably eat broken glass for breakfast, and would happily butcher newborn infants and boil 'em up for lunch." -- or whatever -- we MIGHT begin to respect each other as fellow human beings with genuine concerns who need to put our heads together to find our way out of "the maze."

From what we've seen thus far during this experiment of mine, I'm not sure there's much hope for that to occur any time soon.

Tongue-clucking, however, is a waste of time.

"Life is comedy to him who thinks, but a tragedy to him who feels."

~ Horace Walpole (more or less ;-)

From the many quotations I've collected from 400 BC up to the moment, I think it's safe to say that human nature never changes.

If we are to find "Salvation" -- or as I prefer to call it -- "Fulfillment "-- we must do it as individuals.

Collective Salvation could never be, because it would be the product of COERCION, which sooner or later ALWAYS breeds rebellion -- and violence.

  25. Couldn't one argue that the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, which regulated banking, contributed mightily to the financial crises of 2007 - 2008?

Another government cause of the crises?

Perhaps the "bundling" and tranching of mortgages invented by GSE's FANNIE and FREDDIE were the cause?

Even privately owned corporations are forms of "Socialism". These "forms" grow ever more complex, daily. And they are increasingly becoming "too big to fail".... for if they do, catastrophe and death follow.

No, we may not be able to go back to 1786, but do we REALLY need to proceed to 1989 (collapse of the USSR)?

And look, the lesson of the Euro is that there is little need in the future for unskilled and unsophisticated labourers... yet half of the world's population is "below average" intelligence.

What are these people going to do do, sit at home watching Oprah?

Simplification is necessary. Regulatory complexity (like "Obamacare") has become the enemy. Cuz let's face it... lawyers and lawmakers aren't really very smart. And once you've "locked in your mistakes" with the CFR... you're headed for deep Kimchee. :)

  26. the financial meltdown began in 2006 as a direct result of lax controls.

I well then, I would say that a Conservative extremist is represented by people opposed to the invasion of Libya, and of Egypt, and overthrew a foreign World Leader, and assassinated another World Leader. Who traded a foreign World Leader to a hostel bunch called the Muslim Brotherhood who is right now at this very moment terrorizing the entire Mideast, and who are a very dangerous threat to our only ally there.
Who is dancing around threats from Lunatic Dictators in North Korea and in Iran as well as Syria. Who has ran up a $16 TRILLION deficit and counting. Wh spends more time on the Golf Course then in Meetings. Who has a administration that called 50 percent of the American people “Terrorists” only because they prefer the opposing party. Who let 4 Americans DIE in Benghazi and tried hopelessly to cover it up so that it wouldn’t reflect badly in his up coming election. Who’s wife was NEVER Proud to be an American. Who was mentored by a Sick, anti American, anti Semitic Reverend and lied about ever hearing him say any negative things about those things. Who’s friends were Confirmed American COMMUNIST TERRORIST’S! Who bowed down to Arab kings and apologized for America in Cairo. Who gave this country the biggest healthcare scam imaginable. And apparently Obama was unable to see our Ambassador being murdered in Benghazi in Real time as he was able to see Osama Bin Laden getting slaughtered.

And last but far from least, who declined Prime Minister Netanyahu’s request to meet him!

  32. Just an observation(s)... Many people appear to be listening, few are actually hearing... People tend to prepare their answers BEFORE the hear, let alone understand the others viewpoint... Many spend much time analyzing others and little time in self introspection... The need to be right most often precludes the TRUTH... Blaming others is easier for some rather than to accept responsibility the notion they may be at fault and then focus on improving themselves... These are almost UNIVERSAL, and so humans of various political viewpoints and religions create demons to destroy.

    And the Beat Goes On...

  33. You're perfectly correct, Les. I see the same problems pretty much the same way.

One of my major complaints these past two months or so has been respondents who don't RESPOND to ANYONE, but instead drop "canned" "speeches" vilifying lamenting or condemning any -- or many -- of various individuals and practices.

Since it's long been apparent that every corner of the blogosphere I know has mired itself in the limits imposed by extreme partisanship, I thought I'd try this bizarre exercise to see if there isn't some way we could get together and break the intellectual logjam.

An uphill battle, isn't it? ;-)

  34. Dave,

How would I define an "extreme" conservative?

    1. Someone who sees abortion and homosexuality as issues as serious threats to the health and strength of society.

    2. Someone who foams at the mouth and raves on about stockpiling enough guns and ammunition to stave off an "attack" by government thugs.

    3. Someone who assumes that all liberals are bad people just because they are liberals.

    4. Someone who cannot tolerate a serious difference of opinion without either flying into a rage or getting hysterical.

    5. Someone who believes that all illegal immigrants are nothing but common criminals who ought to be treated the same way we are supposed to treat thieves and murderers no matter how helpful, productive, peaceful and sweet-natured they may be.

In short an extreme Conservative is the same as an extreme Liberal -- a hardened bigot who can't see beyond the end of his nose and doesn't want to try --someone in love with his prejudices -- someone who see things strictly in terms of black and white -- someone incapable of understanding nuances -- someone out of touch with common sense and common decency. Someone who BROADCASTS, but NEVER LISTENS.

Someone who seems incapable of imagining what it might be like to walk in another person's shoes.

Someone who categorically distrusts and despises anyone or anything perceived as different from himself or herself and the milieu in which he or she was raised.

That's the best I can do for now. Feel free to add your own thoughts on the subject. I thought your answers above were interesting and completely lucid.

Conservatives have always been label that way by liberals, and I think thats the whole idea why these blogger feel the way they do about Ms. Shaw. I’m not a fan of using labels to describe myself.
Conservatives put great value in the traditional family and moral behavior. And most conservative’s believe that marriage should take place between a man and a woman.
Conservatives believe in the need for a strong military and in providing security for their family and their country.. We believe that a large military presence is essential for safeguarding America against acts of terrorism. We believe that life begins at conception and we believe that abortion should be illegal.

On the other hand, I think that Progressives do not believe that moral and ethical behavior is necessarily, and instead morality can be determined by themselves.
Progressives generally support a woman's right to control her body and support the right of abortion.

I just decided to call a spade a spade for a change, instead of pretending it was a crown of gold or a throne studded with precious gems.

Like our friend, AOW, I'm pretty well inured to endless taunts and jibes, and my BP too is well under control, HOWEVER, I've gotten bored with casting pearls before swine, even though enough fellow inhabitants of the cyber-sty are wholesome, good natured critters to inspire a continued attempt to muck out the offal in hopes of improving the air quality in these here parts.

It's a bit like fighting fire with fire -- or maybe it would be better just to call it Reverse Psychology?

At any rate we're finding so far that next to Sex and Violence HATE sells more than Beauty, Common Sense, Poetic Inspiration, and Well-Researched Items filled with Facts and Figures that attempt to Increase Awareness and add to our Store of Knowledge -- COMBINED.

  54. FT,
I've gotten bored with casting pearls before swine

No doubt. I am bored as well.

Let's see....What have I been called lately? Short list from one conservative blogger: libtard, sycophant, one manifesting early-stage Alheimer's, a hypocrite, a pity pot, a sociopath, and more -- all by a certain blogger who doesn't comment here (unless as Anonymous, I suppose).

    Cyber bullying.

    Blog warfare.

As of this morning, I'm now utilizing more delete-on-sight policy.

    LMAO. Yep.

Somehow, I slog on -- because I'm spending less time in the blogosphere. I have more important and more edifying things to do!

    What an IDIOT you are.

I guess that there's some truth in the old saying, You are judged by the company you keep! (You & Ms. Shaw)
