THE WASHINGTON POST ATTACKS OBAMA

[NOTE: The following would of little interest if I had written it. In fact I already have written it –– dozens of times. The remarkable thing is that finally, the Washington Post and Newsweek, both recognized as highly liberal, have seen fit –– at long last –– to print an article attacking President Obama  –– a newsworthy phenomenon in and of itself. The unpleasant truths about our President and his agenda are starting to trickle through the “protective wall” built around him by the liberal media. ~ FreeThinke]

I Too Have Become Disillusioned

By Matt Patterson ~ columnist for The Washington Post, The New York Post, The San Francisco Examiner [lightly edited with emphasis added by FT]

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer;" a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement –– nearly devoid of his attention in fact, so often did he vote "present;" and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.

He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor;" an actual real-life terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth could such a man have been elected president?

Not content to wait for history ... Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken anti-American  like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant domestic terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberal Dom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass. Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass –– held to a lower standard –– because of the color of his skin.

Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and –– as he himself had said –– "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon –– Affirmative Action. Not in the legal sense, perhaps, but certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make ... white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin –– that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, nothing is.

And that is what America did to Obama. True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia, despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.

What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks? In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people –– conservatives included –– ought now to be deeply embarrassed.

The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has his Teleprompter in front of him; when the prompter is absent, he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth –– it's all warmed-over Marxism –– ideas that have failed over and over again for a hundred years.

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles: Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. Remember, he wanted the job, campaigned for the task. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been held responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office.

~ § ~

Remember please the foregoing was published in The Washington Post. That makes it extraordinary. Frankly, even I thought some of it excessively condemnatory. I also wonder how Mr. Patterson could know that President Obama’s grades were unremarkable, since most of us who do not respect the president’s political philosophy and worldview have complained for years that his academic record has been officially hidden from public view? Let us pray this new, cruelly critical approach will not serve merely to increase the sympathy vote for the foundering fiasco now occupying the White House.

  2. Come on, AOW, it's just the usual boiler plate crap.

He's a Marxist -- the fringe right wouldn't know a Marxist if one bit their collective ass. They mistake the welfare state for true democratic socialism. You should be embarrassed.

Bill Ayers -- The guy holds a fund raiser for Obama and all of a sudden they're fast friends. No link was ever established.

Rev. Wright -- How often do you think Obama went to church? You think he was ever a regular church goer? Please.
Wright does prove Obama's cynicism as he felt he needed something to give him street cred in the early days. Obama has always been an amoral power seeker.

He is no different than the parade of corporate stooges we've seen parade through the White House since Saint Ronnie Raygun. No different. Podhoretz is just upset that Obama told Zippy the Pinhead to take a bleeping walk when Zippy wanted to visit the White House.

Just one more opportunity for Freethinker to rant about how upset he is that the spics and coons are stealing all his money in welfare payments.

  3. Stop FARTING at this biog, Canardo.

    The STENCH is intolerable.

    Talk about "boilerplate!" SHEEESH!

What the hell do you thunk YOU are trying to screw down all over the floor?

Your habitual brand of obfuscatory, pseudo-erudite rhetoric ain't foolin' NO ONE in these here parts -- not even YOU, I'll wager.

As I took great care to indicate, the remarkable thing abut Mr. Patterson's piece is not WHAT it says -- God knows we're all overly familiar with Obama's hideously perverted background -- but rather WHERE Mr. Patterson's item was PUBLISHED.

Your "genius" at derailing honest discussion of points at hand won't work here.

So, either get with the program, or get lost -- please.

What a perfect theme song for Obama!

Thersites, you're a genius -- a joy -- a fount of inspiration. Bless your heart. You made my day.

    Obama IS the quintessential Strawman.

  7. Having been a Manager in the Retail Industry and responsible for hiring, I can tell you that Managers of both small and large companies are concerned about rising cost and over regulation.
One issue is Obama healthcare. Most managers like to look four to five years down the road and set goals that they hope to accomplish but if you talk to most managers, and owners of small business companies, they are deeply concerned and are not hiring.

    ANOTHER ISSUE:

DO YOU KNOW WHY THOSE NUMBERS WENT DOWN? WHAT MONTH IS IT? Companies are hiring for Part-Time employment because of the Holidays around the corner. Notice that most are not hiring Full time.

ALSO: There are millions out there that have simply stopped looking for work because they gave up and those people are not figured into the numbers you see.

  10. FT don't pat yourself on the back too hard citing something printed in the Washington Post and then asserting 'I told you so'. There's more to it than that in the overall context of the "big picture". Sure they may be shifting horses to cover their bets in case their man, Obama, has lost his touch. But Obama has moved the ball for them further and faster than any other President in history.

It's still the Fabian billionaires and Globalist elite billionaires who are the producers and directors of this satanic style of evil being perpetrated. An evil so monstrous that "the secret protects itself".

  13. RR, Ms. Shaw is anything but stupid. She has a powerful intelligence and keeps herself armed to the teeth with facts and figures that serve her agenda very well.

I would agree with you, however, that when it comes to politics, Ms. Shaw uses her abilities to support notions, ideas and goals certain to harm -- possibly even destroy -- our country, as most of us have known and loved it.

She openly rejects God in favor of the power of human will.

Since God is in a very real sense the embodiment and perfect expression of Principle, Truth and Love, that means Ms. Shaw is treading on very dangerous ground, though I am reasonably certain she is unaware of it.

As I understand it, atheism implies a rejection of anything that cannot be weighed and measured in the physical world. In other words everything is material (physical) and intangible qualities are purely imaginary constructs people have conjured up in desperation to give themselves false hope and false comfort -- or to gain power and control over others.

The issue of gaining Power and Control backfires on Atheist-Materialists, because INVARIABLY systems devised that depend on HUMAN WILL ALONE become tyrannical, oppressive and ultimately self-defeating.

Public Television in latter years has completely devoted itself to pursuing the atheistic, nihilistic Cultural Marxist Agenda with a vengeance. As such it deserves to be killed with a Silver Spike driven through its heart and buried in a garlic-laden coffin of lead embossed with a gigantic silver Cross, then encased in concrete six feet thick and dropped with a flourish of trumpets into The Phillippine Trough.

  14. Waylon,

I agree with most of your thinking, as I believe you must know, but please allow us to enjoy a moment or two of relief from the anger and anxiety that pervades our consciousness most of the time these days.

I assure I am in no way deceived into believing The Oligarchs (you call them Fabian Billionaires and Global Elitists, but they are one and the same) are weakening their death grip on the immense power they've amassed over the past hundred years.

Their greatest advantage, of course, lies in the general public's unawareness -- or mocking disbelief -- in their existence.

Was it C. S. Lewis who said, "Satan's greatest accomplishment to date has been to persuade those who fancy themselves members of the intelligentsia that he does not exist?" -- something like that.

I have no illusions. The battle will not be won in our lifetime -- and maybe never, but we MUST keep hope alive or we will be lost once and for all.

Perdition is not my favored destination, believe me.

  16. As I said previously, I was surprised by the showing of Mitt Romney in the part of the debate which I watched. He stepped up and at least paid lip service to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, which was something I thought needed to be said.

I'm not trying to denigrate a feeling of euphoria and relief which a good segment of the people of your country and also the rest of the world need to hear coming from a leader.

Personally, I get my fill of the fine folks at The Washington Post by watching Morning Joe (some WAPO scribblers seem to be daily guests) on MSNBC ... most of them make me feel like puking. That would Include "Zbig Daddy" (Mika's Daddy) when he makes his all-star appearances on the show.
