  1. November can’t come soon enough, either we have Trump or Clinton. As you remember from my way earlier posts, I was just fine with eithe rTrump or Cruz as long we get CROOKED HILLARY IN PRISON rather than the White House.
Cruz was never going to endorse Trump, and Trump knew it. He read the speech before hand and allowed him to air it out. Trump didn’t stop it, didn’t even respond to anything Cruz said in his speech. Cruz was absolutely RIGHT in what he said. “Vote your conscience” is what we all should be doing. Trump exercised some leadership qualities I didn’t think he had by allowing Cruz a platform to air it out. Its not pretty, its downright ugly sometimes.
But Trump took the high ground away from Cruz by letting him decide on national TV where his conscience and principles are. And Cruz blew it, and he blew away his whole future in Republican politics along wih it.
Pray for our nation, pray that Trump wins or its truly over

After the Gawd awful speech Thursday, a speech filled with half truths, lies, dark fear, and fury I shook my head in disbelief. Disbelief that a nation founded on the classical liberal principles of the eighteenth century could be so naive (or stupid) as to elect a demagogue and megalomaniac president of these United States of America.

  8. Of interest:

Immediately following GOP nominee Donald Trump’s electrifying Republican National Convention (RNC) speech, not even CNN could deny that the public was loving it.

In four polls taken immediately after Trump’s speech, viewers told CNN what they really thought.

    [...]

For viewers, a whopping 57 percent said they had a “very positive” reaction to the speech, while only 24 percent said the speech had a “negative effect.”

Even more incredible for Trump was that 73 percent of viewers said the policies proposed in the speech would move the country in the “right direction,” with only 24 percent saying otherwise.

The speech left 56 percent of viewers saying they are “more likely” to vote for Trump....

    1. You have a point, but we've HEARD all that stuff hundreds of times over.

In MY opinion the most outrageous thing about the enemedia is the obviously biased, agenda-driven, flagrantly dishonest way they've repeatedly mischaracterized and misrepresented Mr. Trump and the entire GOP convention, which –– except for the crass, low-class, spiritually and intellectually bankrupt, markedly inferior, frankly DISGUSTING so-called M-U-S-I-C –– had much to recommend it.

Many good, honest people expressing thoughts and feelings the country needs to hear, and many excellent speeches from the principles involved.

The relentless iteration of solely NEGATIVE thoughts, and fabricated, utterly false "observations," most of which sounded as though the "reporters," "pundits," and "witnesses" involved hadn't been anywhere near Cleveland has been infuriating and depressing to those us who took the time to watch and listen carefully to all four days of the convention.

The "reportage" from the enemedia –– and that now includes FOX –– has sounded as though it came from an alternate Universe –– certainly not the one WE inhabit.

Like Mr.Trump I believe that "Freedom of Speech" should NOT include the right to LIE or MISLEAD with the crafty, manipulative use of "selected" FACTS.

    3. In MY opinion, Stanley, no one has any "right" to EXPRESS an opinion, if he knows nothing about the subject at hand. He may ask QUESTIONS of course, –– provided e's willing to listen to the answers he gets –– but he may not make the all-too-common error of posing as an "expert" when in fact he is an absolute DUNCE.

At any rate, I am CERTAINLY anti-Progressive. That des NOT mean, however, that I am anti-PROGRESS, which is what the Left would have you believe.

If we must attach labels, you may call me a STABILIZATIONIST. That means I am not a REVOLUTIONARY, an ACTIVIST or a REACTIONARY.

I am militantly opposed to Change for the Sake of Change, militantly opposed to Utopian Dreams that inevitably turn into Dystopia Nightmares.

For the road to Larisa is often long and treacherous and "truth" is not always the answer that will get you there fastest. After all, "getting there" is all that matters. The path we take, matters little...

      e-r-r-r-r

...no promise of eternal harmony in the future within some vast organic whole will make us accept is the use of human beings as mere means--the doctoring of them until they are made to do what they do, not for the sake of the purposes which are their purposes, fulfilment of hopes which however foolish or desperate are at least their own, but for reasons which only we, the manipulators, who freely twist them for our purposes, can understand. What horrifies one about Soviet or Nazi practice is not merely the suffering and the cruelty, since although that is bad enough, it is something which history has produced too often, and to ignore its apparent inevitability is perhaps real Utopianism--no; what turns one inside out, and is indescribable, is the spectacle of one set of persons who so tamper and "get at" others that the others do their will without knowing what they are doing; and in this lose their status as free human beings, indeed as human beings at all. - Isaiah Berlin, "Letter to George Kennan" (2/13/51)

  14. I find it odd that the media is now criticizing Trump's acceptance speech as being too pessimistic and frightening. This after the media has spent so much time terrorizing everyone over the last few years that there's this bogeyman "terrorist" lurking behind the next corner or under your bed intent on lopping off your head.

Now Trump asserts he's the only one that can solve the problem. I wish him well. If he can make a start at solving some of the world's problems without losing his head in the meantime, that would certainly be a good thing. But where do you start?

If he can follow through on "making America great again" perhaps it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for one the expect some credible ideas on where this would start.

Would a "Great Nation" not be one that has sovereign control of its financial system and control of the issuance of its currency? If so what would Mr. Trump suggest as a decent starting point in this regard?

Is it realistic to expect Mr. Trump to probe the sordid history of the Federal Reserve and its financial monopoly ... including that a "market" exists when the most fundamental item of an economy—Interest Rates—are set by a panel of "shareholders" and that affect every other market in the world.

If Trump gets to that point things will get very interesting ...

  19. JUST BREAKING: DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz Won’t Speak at Convention Following Wikileaks Fallout
Wikileaks released nearly 20,000 hacked emails it says are from the accounts of Democratic National Committee officials on Friday. The documents were released just days before the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia
The hacked emails revealed the DNC’s hatred for Bernie Sanders and his movement.
One email talks about how DNC moles had infiltrated the Bernie campaign.
    CNN reported:
The head of the Democratic National Committee will not speak at the party’s convention next week, a decision reached by party officials Saturday after emails surfaced that raised questions about the committee’s impartiality during the Democratic primary.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, whose stewardship of the DNC has been under fire through most of the presidential primary process, will not have a major speaking role in an effort “to keep the peace” in the party, a Democrat familiar with the decision said. The revelation comes following the release of nearly 20,000 emails.
One email appears to show DNC staffers asking how they can reference Bernie Sanders’ faith to weaken him in the eyes of Southern voters. Another seems to depict an attorney advising the committee on how to defend Hillary Clinton against an accusation by the Sanders campaign of not living up to a joint fundraising agreement.
Wasserman Schultz is expected to gavel the convention in and out, but not speak in the wake of the controversy surrounding the leaked emails.

Read Michael Moore's recent op-ed you should. He lays out his reasons why Trump will win the election. I agree with Moore's reasons and as much as the idea disgusts me, I think Trump can/will win the election. I will get no satisfaction out of saying I told you so. I have watched Americans vote for bigots, racists, crooks, liars, and worse for president. A Trump win will not surprise me, just depress me.

I can think of worse people who have already been president, of course, we don't know just how bad Trump could get. There are worse things than being a racist, vulgar, tyrant, and leader of the United States.

Trump has gotten his way in everything in life. It will be interesting to watch him be told no by Congress, just like every other president. And like other presidents, he will just blame Congress and then go golfing.

Every president has his character tested when making decisions for the country. Trump's test will be how much patience he has.

It will be interesting and fun to watch a president Trump get the obstructionist treatment Obama has been getting from Congress.

I will be waiting to see if Congress will pass spending for his multi-trillion dollar plans. I certainly can't wait to here what the president of Mexico says when Trump asks him for 10's of billions of dollars to build a wall.

If the founding fathers showed us anything, it's that one can be a vulgar racist and still do good things. Of course the founders were truly geniuses; I'm afraid Mr. Trump is handicapped in that area.

The simple answer to Mr. Moore's reason for a Trump win, is a large Democratic voter turnout. During the primaries Democratic voter turnout was down, even with Bernie getting millions of voters out to vote.

"She's been quarantined," another top Democrat said, following a meeting Saturday night.

This is seen as a concession to Sanders, who has been furious at Wasserman Schultz for what he believed was favoritism to Clinton.

The Democrat familiar with the decision said it was done in hopes of preventing chaos on the convention floor among Sanders supporters.

The decision was blessed by Clinton and Sanders officials, this Democrat said.

Emails leaked from seven DNC officials

The leaks, from January 2015 to May 2016, feature Democratic staffers debating everything from how to deal with challenging media requests to coordinating the committee's message with other powerful interests in Washington.

The emails were leaked from the accounts of seven DNC officials, Wikileaks said. CNN has not independently established the emails' authenticity.
