ALL the KING'S MEN (1949)

The Rise and Fall of Willie Stark

Ironically, a good man becomes corrupted by his success in fighting corruption
in the Establishment of his time.

  1. Samuel Patterson Said: And I agree!

"Democrat voters are eating this up. The really sad part about this 'meme' is that they actually believe this to be the case! However, Obama's 'hope' has turned out to be a false hope, (especially for blacks), and Hillary's supposed 'grace' is already a disgrace. How long are you Obama & Hillary fans are going to continue drinking this godless liberal Kool-Aid?!"

  2. Bill left quite a bit out of his speech. No mention of the criminal investigation about her email or the cascade of one lie after another she told about that scandal. No mention either of the other scandals where Hillary used similar techniques of denial and deflection to shield her from accountability.

But in what is likely to be one of the last mainstream media efforts to vet Hillary, the Washington Post published a look back at the famous Whitewater scandal.

Hillary told one lie after another and got away

  3. ic,2009 dissent is racist. It is amazing how the left pride themselves on being the guarding of the First Amendment, yet not when it comes to opposing

  4. Of Obsma thinks that the recent rash of murders, it's robbery, it's rape, burglaries, home-invasions, Cop Killings, protesters burning down cars, and stores, and buildings . Is all part of a "safer country, and word... Then go ahead and vote for HillRy with the other sickos.

    1. Agreed, Mr. Know it all. The recent rash of it is robbery and it is rape (one robbery and one rape?) is troubling. In fact, what's even more troubling is "it's" theme in your comment.

  5. As a laughing man myself... perhaps the need to skip a "concert" or two can be excused.

  6. I was just letting this past week sink in, and I was thinking, which is a bad thing if you’re a Hillary supporter…
Here’s what I learned from the Democratic National Committee Convention this week:
Bringing race activists on stage while snubbing law enforcement is “uniting” America, but speaking about helping all Americans, regardless of race, gender, or sexuality is “divisive.”
The violent and disruptive protests outside of the DNC Convention and the massive protests inside are a sign of “party unity,” but the lack of protests along with the entire crowd cheering for Trump at the RNC Convention shows a “party in chaos.”
Having celebrities stump for you negates all the bad things you’ve done in the past.
Being realistic and outlining the current state of our nation is “dark,” but completely ignoring reality while convincing people they’re all victims of some great evil is “uplifting.”
Saying “I’m with you” is a sign that you’re narcissistic, but having Americans say “I’m with her” means that you’re “selfless” and “compassionate.” Putting “America first” is a “dangerous” ideology, but the globalist agenda and ceding our sovereignty to foreign governing bodies is perfectly okay.
Fighting to renegotiate trade deals to bring jobs back to America will be “harmful” to the economy, but allowing the mass migration of illegals over the border won’t have any effect at all, and opposing it makes you “racist.”
Repeating slogans, feigning grievance, and shouting platitudes is offering a “clear vision” for our nation, but actually outlining a path forward and offering up real solutions to our numerous problems is “lacking substance.”
Speaking the truth and refusing to back down makes you a “bully,” but mocking someone on a national stage while repeatedly lying about who they are is simply “informing” voters.
Wanting to ensure that the people we let into our nation aren’t bad actors is “dangerous” to our society, but allowing anyone and everyone in, regardless of whether or not we can vet them to see if they pose a threat, is the “right” thing to do.
Using statistics to highlight that certain communities have deeply-rooted problems is “racist,” but telling people they can’t accomplish something only because of their skin color is “compassionate.”
Suggesting Russia might have Hillary’s missing emails should get your security clearance stripped and poses a “threat” to national security, but using a server that’s wide open to Russia hacking it isn’t a problem at all.
Having your server hacked and exposing a massive scandal means absolutely nothing as long as it was done by a foreign government.
You can support abortion up to the day of birth and still claim to be the best hope for children.
You can accept bribes from nations that actively oppress women and still claim that you’re fighting for women’s rights.
Actually empowering women and paying them equally to what their male counterparts make, long before it was even a national issue, makes you a “misogynist,” but degrading rape victims, smearing your husband’s victims of sexual assault, and laughing about getting the rapist of a 12-year-old off the hook makes you a “champion of women.”

    1. VRLLIANT, DD! Than you for laying it all out so clear with wit and style.

Where have you been? Haven't seen you anywhere in months. Glad you stopped by. Please don't a stranger in future.

      Stay well/

  7. Merely having lawsuits brought against you, regardless of the outcome, makes you “guilty” of whatever you’re charged with, but being investigated by the FBI and having its director explain in detail about how guilty you are means you’re “cleared of any wrongdoing.”
A man who’s spent his entire life legally building an empire while employing thousands of people and making a major contribution to our economy is “unqualified” for president, but a woman who has a proven history of lies, deceit, corruption, incompetence, and malfeasance is the “most qualified person to ever run for office.”
And finally, this one really got me – the party that allowed its primaries to proceed without interference and let the people choose their nominee “doesn’t care” about the voters, but the party that rigged the outcome of its primaries and disenfranchised millions of voters is “fighting for the little guy.”
So yeah, this is what I learned from the Democrats in just one week, and this is only what I can recall of the top of my head. I’m sure there’s more, I just haven’t had enough coffee yet to remember it all. But this is amazing, isn’t it?
It’s almost as if they’re living in some sort of alternate reality that’s completely devoid of any common sense, consistency, or critical thinking whatsoever. But surely, we wouldn’t ever elect such people to run our nation, would we?

    1. Please keep talking, DD. You are saying exactly what America needs to hear –– and saying it uncommonly well, I might add.

I hope you don't mind if I feature your astute analysis in a post in the near future? You'll get full credit, of course.

    2. Hillary has been blamed with everything from maleficence to murder. But in 30 years and multiple investigations, no criminal charges what so ever. So give her the same you want for Trump, an expectation of innocence until proven guilty. No matter what Comey said, he refused the charge, which usually means he didn't have the proof to win a case.

  8. TOMJuly 27, 2016 at 9:18 AM
In the aftermath of the Islamic terror attacks in Orlando and Istanbul, we see what the misguided national security priorities for President Obama, and de facto, Hillary Clinton truly Aretha's is what idiots like Shaw can't understand because she's yo bloated wth that Koolside she has been drinking for the past 8 years in her dense mind It’s all about gun control, climate change, and now transgender individuals. American taxpayers will now be providing funding for hormonal treatments and surgical procedures, not to mention new uniforms, for those suffering from gender dysphoria.
We need a commander in chief who will identify and engage the enemy to defeat them – not use our military for ideological social egalitarian agendas.
This is why Islamic terrorists are emboldened, and actually laughing at us. Heck, al-Qaida has even issued a statement to kill only white people, since the progressive socialist left declares their attacks as hate crimes.

    1. I don't disagree with most of your statement, TOM, but I WISH you –– and all the others –– would stop bashing other blog owners and the many commenters with whom we disagree. It does NOTHING to aid "our" cause, and only detracts from the value of our opinions by making "us" look childish, spiteful and badly brought up.

More than half my personal friends don't share my political views, but we don't let that stop us from enjoying each other's company in contexts outside of politics.

  9. The 2016 Democratic Convention in Philadelphia was a multi-layered, raucous display of political theater. A host of delegates loyal to Senator Bernie Sanders were inside in large numbers exclaiming “No more war” during former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s speech and raising all kinds of progressive, rebellious signs and banners against the Hillary crowd. Although Hillary addressed them directly in her acceptance speech, “Your cause is my cause,” those dissatisfied delegates in the hall saw her rhetoric for what it was: insincere and opportunistic.
She said she’d tax the wealthy for public necessities, but declined to mention a sales tax on Wall Street speculation that could bring in as much as $300 billion a year to support such initiatives. She opposed “unfair trade agreements,” but remarkably omitted saying she was against the TPP (the notorious pending Trans Pacific Trade Agreement backed by Obama that is receiving wide left/right opposition).
She paid lip service to a “living wage” but avoided endorsing a $15 an hour minimum wage, which would help single moms and their children – people she wants us to believe have been her enduring cause. Few people know that it took until the spring of 2014 before candidate Clinton would come out for even a $10.10 minimum wage. News reports noted that Clinton, a former member of Walmart’s board of directors and Arkansas corporate lawyer, was wrestling with how to support $10.10 per hour without alienating her Wall Street friends.
“Caring for kids” doesn’t extend to encircled Gaza’s defenseless children, hundreds of whom were killed by American-made weapons wielded by the all powerful Israeli military. Gaza is the the world’s largest open air prison and under illegal blockade. Remember, as Secretary of State, Hillary fully backed war crimes, condemned by almost all countries in the world. On the stage in Philadelphia, she spoke of backing Israel’s security without any mention of Palestinian rights or the need to end Israel’s illegal occupation of the territories.
It is true, as numerous speakers repeated, Clinton is “most qualified and experienced,” but her record shows those qualities have led to belligerent, unlawful military actions that are now boomeranging against U.S. interests. The intervention she insistently called for in Libya, with Obama’s foolish consent, over-rode the wiser counsel of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates (and his generals), who warned of the chaos that would follow. He was proven right, with chaotic violence now all over Libya spilling into other African countries. This is but one example of what Bernie Sanders meant during the debates when he referenced her “poor judgement.”
The media coverage of political conventions tends to sink to the level of the circus. The PBS/NPR coverage with some half dozen reporters and two commentators proved to be thin, light, soft and superficial. Otherwise smart media communicators were reduced to very heavy focus on exactly what the Party’s manipulators wanted. “What is Hillary really like?” Of course the stage was filled with frothy admiration, awe and acclamation. But why didn’t the media point out some of the factual omissions, the contradictions to the endless sugarcoating of the nominee?
To her credit, NPR/PBS reporter, Susan Davis, did blurt out that the Convention program was mostly about personality and character with little policy. Reporters did, however, point out that unlike all other candidates, Hillary Clinton has not had a news conference since last December to showcase her supposed experience, qualifications and knowledge!

  10. continued

Why wouldn’t Hillary Clinton, in her attack on Donald Trump, demand the release of his tax returns? Hillary and Bill have regularly released their tax returns. Maybe because Trump would demand Hillary release her secret Wall Street transcripts of her $5,000-a-minute paid speeches to big bankers and other businesses.
To her verbal credit, Hillary Clinton raised the “unpatriotic” charge against too many U.S. corporations (not all she added) when it comes to our country. Born in the U.S.A, grown to profit on the backs of American workers, bailed out by American taxpayers and occasionally by the U.S. Marines overseas, these giant companies have no allegiance to country or community. They are, with trade agreements and other inducements, abandoning America’s workers and escaping America’s laws and taxes.
Hearing the word “unpatriotic” applied to those companies I could imagine these firms’ executives and P.R. flacks shuddering for the only time during her 55-minute address. The stigma of being “unpatriotic” to their enabling native country can have consequential legs for turning public opinion even more deeply against these monetized corporate Goliaths.
Stung by the consistently high “untrustworthy” ratings since polling started asking that question (only Trump exceeds her in most polls), she declared again that no one achieves greatness alone, that it takes us working together, that it “Takes a Village,” alluding to her earlier book. If that is true, then Together must have more power than the Few. “Together” should include workers, consumers, small taxpayers, voters and communities who are excluded from power, from the tools of democracy – electoral reforms and clean elections, more unions and cooperatives, access to justice for wrongful injuries and against crony capitalism and corporate crime and greater citizen empowerment. Does she have an agenda for a devolution of power from the few to the many so that we can be “stronger together,” (her slogan for 2016)? No way. Mum’s the word!
This immense gap has been the Clinton duo’s con job on America for many years. Sugarcoating phrases, populist flattery, getting the election over with and jumping back into the fold of the plutocracy is their customary M.O.
An anti-Hillary campaign button sums it up. Imagine a nice picture of Hillary with the words “More Wall Street” above her head and the words “More War” below her head.
Alert voters could see it coming at the Convention: the militarism for Hillary the Hawk on day four in Philadelphia and the arrival of the corporate fat cats. Or, as the New York Times headlined: “Top Donors Leave Sidelines, Checkbooks in Hand.”
The best thing Hillary Clinton has going for her is the self-destructive, unstable, unorganized, fact and truth-starved, egomaniacal, cheating, plutocratic, Donald Trump (See my column “Cheating Donald”).
That’s where our nation’s two-party political leadership is today. When will the vast left/right majority rise to take over and reverse the eviscerating policies and practices of this political duopoly?

  11. Well, here's another thing that will make Both Hillary and especially Bill even more reviled than they are allready are reviled, that is, by most sane people. The insane may still support them.
The BOTH have Zero respect for our military and our Vets. Something you can NOT say about Donald Trump.
