The World Weary Waltz
They’ve rioted in Baltimore
TRA la la la la LA la!
They’re writhing in pain.
There’s a hurricane in Florida
Blowing in too much rain.
TRA la la la la LA!
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls
Race wars are fomenting from
the North to the South Poles
The Muslims hate the Christians
With atheists we've lost touch
Now most people hate each other very much!
But we may unite yet in alliance proud
Jong Un now possesses a Mushroom-Shaped Cloud
So we can be certain on some lovely day
That jerk will go berserk
And we will all be blown away!
Now an earthquake’s just hit Mexico
TRA la la la la LA la!
Disease stalks the land
What Nature doesn’t do to us
Will be done by the Human Hand!

Folks buying the lure of End Times musings must be feeling exonerated.
ReplyDeleteThe "LURE" of End Times? "EXONERATED?"
DeleteWhat a remarkably inappropriate choice of words!
You might want to look up key words before you publish them to make sure you are saying what you think you're saying.
I do most of the time. Googe makes it ridiculaously easy, so there's no excuse for not checking your work.
After rereading the comment it did in fact fail to express the exact, and therefore correct expression of my thought. Your response was an appropriate rebuttal. Thank you.
DeleteIf my day allows the time I may return and offer a precise and accurate ennunciation of my thoughts.
Man cannot escape me, Prince Prospero!
ReplyDeletePoe at his most deliciously morbid is oddly intoxicating, I have to admit.
DeleteHowever, the ardent aura of theatricality he evokes saves his work from being depressing.. "ENTHRALLING" would be the best word for it.
Beauty had many scribes. He was the first to address the "sublime".
DeleteNot the FIRST, perhaps, but certainly ONE of very few who DID.
DeleteWe might say of Poe that he was the Hieronymous Bosch of literature.

DeleteNice update on The Merry Minuet!
ReplyDeleteAlso nice you correctly attributed it to Sheldon Harnick. I always thought Tom Lehrer wrote it, so you made me go look it up.
Plus ça change...
EXACTEMENT!
DeleteYou might remember I prepared another version for this blog called They're Rioting in Ferguson a couple of uears ago. I remember Finntann really liked it.
I decided long ago, "When you're down and out out, lift up your head and –– SATIRIZE something!" It helps chase the blues away if nothing else.

DeleteI have spoken with FreeThinke and he is hunkered down weathering the storm with his usual aplomb.
ReplyDeleteI just KNEW deep down that Irma was just another chimera dreamt up by the ENEMEDIA.
DeleteI have faith in the protective power of almighty God.
I have NO faith whatseover in the ENEMEDIA.

Glad the you fared well where you are!
Apparently, however, Jacksonville was hit harder than predicted.
The family of one of my friends went to "the safe place," Jacksonville. They're now in a bad situation with flooding of house and car.
I'm quite concerned about the woman, who recently had a radical mastectomy.
I guess that they shouldn't have trusted the weatherman and done what the sister did: flee to Northern Virginia.
BTW, The Merry Widow's daughter is still out of power. Her workplace, very nearby, is up and running, though. The power grid has weird sections, IMO.
Good word FT
ReplyDeleteI agree, good work FT
ReplyDeleteFeel better FT
ReplyDeleteFT,
ReplyDeleteHave you been knocked offline by Hurricane Irma? Everything on the news looks grim, but we all know that the Enemedia are always screeching, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"
Irma turned out to be just another Enemedia Monster for us, thank God.
DeleteLost power for 24 hours. That was it. No big deal, thank God.
24 hours is a small time interval compared to the many wrong predictions.
DeleteHi FT, hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThank you, but I have not been feeling ill.
