Encouraging?

or Daunting?

  1. What? If I make it to 90 I have to drink Jack D?

    Definitely daunting. ;)

    1. These remarkable old souls are telling you in many different ways that you do not HAVE to grow "old," you only have to DIE some day.

One must love life a great deal, however, and develop the WILL to spend time tugging against Inertia with Joy, Flair and Determination -- whether we particularly FEEL like it or not.

In truth most of us are just too damned LAZY to BOTHER even TRYING to maintain our bodies at optimal strength OR practice the necessary discipline to save our souls.

    2. Just "FOLLOW YOUR BLISS," Thersites.

FOLLOW YOUR BLISS. That's all there is to it, unless your idea of joy and fulfillment involves Robbery, Vandalism, Kidnapping, Torture, Rape, Murder and doing your level best to destroy the reputation of others "just for the hell of it." (:-x

  3. Age is but the chronological measurement of how long one has been on this earth.

We have NO control over this. However, we do have control over our physiological aging process and therefore we can age much slower physically and mentally with the proper attitude and discipline.

Nobody ever said it is easy. Nothing truly worthwhile ever is.

    1. We regard responding to trolls -- even politely -- a form of trolling, itself. It is not permitted here by ANYONE, except the proprietor when and if he feels it warranted.

We discourage participants here from advising, chastising, counseling, passing judgment upon, or making any effort to change the way other participants choose to behave.

This blog is an AUTOCRACY. It is not a DEMOCRACY.

We strive to be, decent, good humored, and polite with our participants, but reserve to right to be as surly, unpleasant, indignant, intolerant, and openly contemptuous as we please of public figures and odious ideologies whom we feel richly deserve our scorn. That policy extends to those who want to lend support to those we reject as untenable.

I hope I have made myself perfectly clear?

I do not entertain arguments against myself or my policies here. PERIOD!

  5. "Inspiring? Encouraging? or Daunting?" Exhausting.

I can tell you this much about when i get old - I have no intention performing physical feats on a daily basis. I've long since had enough of it.

    1. That should depend in what "feats" you have in mind, Jersey. These folks are all doing things they apparently LOVE to do. None of them believes in self-flagellation as a desirable way of life. None of them appears to have any Masochistic tendencies whatsoever.

It all depends, as the saying goes, on "what floats your boat."

By the way, not all the featured feats have been physical. I particularly admire the man who taught himself to read past the age of ninety after a long life of illiteracy. Not only did he become LITERATE at that advanced age, he wrote -- and published -- BOOK.

So why don't you set a goal to read H.G. Wells' Outline of History, or Gibbons Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire -- or Winston Churchill's A History of the English Speaking Peoples for that matter -- or better yet all THREE. It could only improve your outlook on life, and serve to give you a tremendous increase your understanding of Reality.

If not that, why not teach yourself to be literate in Hebrew, Greek, Russian or at least one of the Oriental Language? ;-)

Sitting down all day, and doing nothing but expressing dissatisfaction with life puts us on the express route to The Grave.
