Resumé

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

    1. If you enjoyed Resumé to that degree, Joe, you undoubtedly will ADORE this:

      ____________ CODA ____________

      There’s little in taking or giving,
      There’s little in water or wine;
      This living, this living, this living
      Was never a project of mine.

      Oh, hard is the struggle, and sparse is
      The gain of the one at the top,
      For art is a form of catharsis,
      And love is a permanent flop,

      And work is the province of cattle,
      And rest’s for a clam in a shell,
      So I’m thinking of throwing the battle —
      Would you kindly direct me to hell?

      ~ Dorothy Parker (1893-1967)

      PS: I happen to love DP intensely, because I have seen beyod the brittle wit and mannered expressions of self-pity. Behind the facade she built with great skill and sonsummate craftsmanship to shield herself from the wprst aspects of Human Nature, lurked a Great Heart and a nature filled with infinite sweetness.

      So mind your manners, please when referring to favoites of mine.

    2. Joe, I'm sure you're capable of giving us far more than monosyllabic grunts of disapproval.

      We are always more interested in learning WHY people think as they do than WHAT they think.

      'life' or of 'principle'. 'F that.

    4. I see you've missed the great tongue-in-cheek humor in these.

      Only Parker could poke fun at methods of committing suicide and get away with it.

      As I said above: I happen to love DP intensely, because I have seen beyond the brittle wit and mannered, –– almost burlesqued –– expressions of self-pity.

      Behind the facade she built with great skill and sonsummate craftsmanship to shield herself from the worst aspects of Human Nature, lurked a Great Heart and a nature filled with infinite sweetness.

      I meant every word.

      I've read just about everything Parker ever wrote, and admire her tremendously. She was a true original with an utterly brilliant mind. Like many extremely bright people she found the manifold idiocies and cruelties of the world hard to bear., so what? That does nothing to dminish her importance as an artist.

      I could hardly fault her for that.

      “If wild my breast and sore my pride,
      I bask in dreams of suicide,
      If cool my heart and high my head
      I think 'How lucky are the dead.”

  4. The end of the Democratic Party is near! The juveniles in charge are all but destroying it.. Y'all have exhausted every single common decency that it once had and polarized this country into complete dysfunction and trivial encounters over your MARCHES, RIOTING PROTESTS, while the CORRUPTION, DECEPTION, and INCOMPETENCE mounts in Washington, DC. At this rate, your great great grandchildren are gonna look back at the demise of the Democrats and wonder how stupidity got to this level....

      To see the Party of the Ass
      From our country finally pass
      It's far more likely we'll go first.
      That would be no big surprise
      Since D'Rats long for our demise
      Their schemes will bring about the worst.

      In future, Vinnie, please take your toilet humor back to the seventh grade where it belongs.

      I am no fan of Nana Pelousy, believe me, but surely she deserves better than THAT.

      She's a year older than I, and I could no more STAND for eight hours even in my comfy old robe and slippers than I could fly across the Pacific by flapping my arms in the breeze.

      Like it or appreciate it, or not, yagotta gve the old she-devil her due.

      What she did was an AMAZING FEAT of Physical Endurance.

  7. ONE of MANY THINGS that MAKE SUICIDE SEEM an ATTRACTIVE ALTERNATIVE

    _______ ROCK CONCERT _______

I see the bright flash of splintering glass
    And the moaning whine of a great turbine
    Tortures my ears.

    A thousand bullets tear through the air
    Each finding its mark in the heart
    Of an expectant listener

    And through the ensuing rending pain
    I hear this new and mean refrain

    What once was sweet has turned to gall
    And strength employd just to appall
    The congregation in the concert hall.

    Humor is lead. Tenderness dead,
    And all sense of style is dissolved in a bile
    Whose bitterness cannot be said,
    But can only be felt

    In the crash of the Beat at monotonous speed
    That prompts only the question
    "Where will this lead?"

    Those beatnic poets are not my cup of tea, I'll tell you that!

    FreeThinke old pal,
    Could you compose a verse or two about the most diabolical political genius in US history, Hellahag Clinton?

    From the NY Post:

    Hillary Clinton ...paid for and created allegations against her Republican opponent, gave them to law enforcement, then tipped friendly media to the investigation. And it is almost certain FBI agents supporting Clinton were among the anonymous sources.

    In fact, the Clinton connections are so fundamental that there probably would not have been an FBI investigation without her involvement.

    That makes hers a brazen work of political genius — and perhaps the dirtiest dirty trick ever played in presidential history. Following her manipulation of the party operation to thwart Bernie Sanders in the primary...

    1. Hillary looked into the magic mirror and this exchange ensued.

      “Mirror, mirror in my hand,
      Who's the fairest in the land?”
      The mirror sighed,
      And then replied,
      "The men have got you beat hands down,
      You wretched, rump-sprung, braying clown."

      “But you have done me lots of good.
