OLFACTORY FARMS

Not long ago a sensational new supermarket opened
in Kankakee, Illinois.

It has an automatic water mister to keep the produce fresh.

Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder
and the smell of fresh rain.

When you pass the milk cases, you hear cows mooing
and experience the scent of new mown hay.

In the meat department the aroma of charcoal grilled steaks
with onions stimulates your appetite.

When you approach the eggs, you hear hens clucking and cackling, and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.

The bread department features the seductive aroma
of fresh baked bread and cookies.

I don't buy toilet paper there anymore.

  1. I don't like the holistic shopping experience.

The first time that I encountered one of those water misters, I got soaked.

  3. Your skill at being able to find and select just the right illustrations never ceases to amaze me, FT. It makes your blog very distinguished. I've never been able to understand why so few seem to notice and appreciate the importance of using good illustrations.
