Forgot to say that the video you posted is a gem!

  2. Obama's 5-hour golf game on Martha’s Vineyard seemed to ihnterupt his 5-minute ISIS speech. Because he rushed back and teed off IMMEDIATELY after condemning American photojournalist James Foley's executioners
“Obama was on the golf course within ten minutes of wrapping up his somber yet brief remarks on Wednesday.
The vacationing commander-in-chief played 18 holes with former NBA star Alonzo Mourning and two business pals
Twitter exploded and commentators from Fox and ABC tore into Obama for appearing insensitive and 'stupid'
New York Times published headline gaffe, titling story 'Obama Outraged Over Beheading, Vows to Stay on Course'
Former President George W. Bush declined comment
Obama was pilloried last week for golfing during the funeral of a 2-star general and partying as Ferguson, Missouri descended into race-riots”

So as our citizens are being Be-Headed by the filthy Islamic’s and the country is in racial turmoil and chaos, President Obama is playing Golf vacation at Martha’s Vineyard We have a president that doesńt know right from wrong.... All he knows is that George Bush was wrong... And Rome continues to burn. How nice!
True to character, or lack of it, Obama returned to play gold with his buddy and former Basketball star at Martha’s Vineyard IMMEDIATELY upon his return to the Island.
I guess that his message to these TERRORISTS was that he really didn’t give a crap!

So here’s the solution, NEVER vote for any of these filthy Liberal-progressives again! Period.

  3. So here my message to all my stupid, liberal, democratic, and progressive, countrymen and women who voted for this complete inept fraud of a "President"........You wanted Hope and Change? You Got It!

  4. The right wing pearl-clutchers, and the Faux News addicts are all in a tizzy because Mr. Obama went golfing after delivering his remarks on the beheading of James Foley.
    Interesting choice of words!!!
I wonder how they ever recovered from George Bush’s remarks on terrorism after the worst attack on American soil that killed 3,000+ people.

But their memories are short and, after all, the guy who kept golfing after 9/11 was one of their tribe, so no one thought anything of it.
There's a big difference between facts and a conservative facts. For example George Bush’s concern about Katrina! This is all you need to know about the republican party. Romney would be exactly the same. Obama was right in his remarks in 2007, regardless of how theatrical he was.
You people are all so predictable and stupid.

  5. Yes indeed, change, for it to be meaningful and lasting must come from within. Accepting personal responsibility for ones reality and then working to improve and change things for the better rests with every individual... irrespective of race, color, ethnicity, culture, or background.

The black man doing the the video understands this well. From his center of reason and understanding he said it well, with appropriate emotion and "feeling."

There is much many can take from this man and learn from him. If they allow themselves to fully understand what he is saying.

Side note... Isn't it unfortunate that some in the enemedia and blogistan take every opportunity to criticize the president at every turn?

AND WHY NOT? HE GETS WHATS COMING TO HIM!

  7. Note To Rational Nation USA

Did you hear Obama's speech? This poor excuse for a president juggled the phrases around and tweaked a few words -- sounded just like the Benghazi speech where he "would not rest" until HE "brought the perpetrators to justice."

This speech was so predictable, it was sickening. If you replay it, watch his mouth. He exhibits several odd quirks that betray either glee or impatience, or maybe even the stifling of a smile.

This man is on something, is completely pathological or simply an iceberg, involved with his own pleasures alone. Everyone else can handle the problems, just leave me alone, I wanna play golf and fists-bump because I´m cool.

To say the "optics" are bad is ridiculously understating the problem here: The country and the Democrat Party are stuck with a man who refuses to work at the job of being POTUS. He has tasked every like-minded Marxist in his Administration to carry out the "fundamental remaking" of America and it is happening in absentia.

He is The man who wasn´t there while America burned.
And frankly, I for one am SICK AND TIRED OF THIS GUY!

  8. ________________ REMINDER ________________

Today's video is NOT about President Obama.

It contains a plain speaking BLACK man talking vehemently in Black Street Jargon TO blacks about the deficiencies in the behavior of BLACKS and the need for THEM to take an active role in determining the course of THEIR lives.

FURTHER COMMENTS MERELY DENIGRATING PRESIDENT OBAMA WILL BE REMOVED.

PLEASE ADDRESS the CONTENTS of the VIDEO in a manner that shows you have SEEN it and DIGESTED its CONTENTS.

    Thank you.

  9. Note that Johnthan Gentry compared to the rioting and looting in Ferguson to "Planet of the Apes: Part 3." That's quite an insulting statement, but the rioting and looting blacks in Ferguson are indeed behaving in a beastly manner.

As long as blacks choose to behave in a such a manner, racism will continue to be a problem in America. As I often say, "The pendulum swings, and when it does, it swings hard."

  10. By the way, Anti-Conservative Anonymous, there is a world of difference between the Truth and the Leftist BOILERPLATE Talking Points you deposited here.

The Ritual Trashing, Slashing and Bashing of "Prexy Ovomit" may be predictable, hopelessly redundant, witless, boring and counter-productive to the interests of Conservatism, but at least most of it is TRUTHFUL.

The VIDEO is extraordinarily interesting -- a gem -- as AOW rightfully called it.

This lazy-minded determination to "vent" without the faintest show of comprehension -- regrettably typical in the blogosphere -- is UNACCEPTABLE at THIS blog.

If you feel the urge to expel the plethora of gas that has collected in the intestines of your mind, GO to the TOILET.

  11. Well, AOW, the Chris Rock video you recommended DOES contain excellent advice, I admit, but I think Johnathan [Don't you love that spelling?] Gentry's is far better.

I'm awfully tired of the persistent use of four-letter vulgarity, although I suppose the sort of language used by Chris Rock may very well be the ONLY form of English the targets of his quasi-comical tirade could possibly understand. The trouble is that such usage is bringing the REST of us DOWN.

    ReplyDelete
  12. FT,
I agree that Gentry's video is better.

Chris Rock's "stock in trade" is the f-bomb. Much overused by him, IMO.

  13. Very interesting.

This man admits that he has had "MANY encounters with the police?" But he doesn't say why a wonderful, religious, non-confrontational, young African-American male has been stopped, in his own words, MANY TIMES by the police.

No, he never tells us why.

I have a husband, a son, nephews, male cousins, and brothers-in-law just as upstanding as the young man in the video is, and they have NOT been stopped by the police MANY TIMES, as this young man admits.

And that is quite an admission by him -- one he conveniently glosses over so he can impress people with how nice he is to the cops who have stopped him "many times."

But his rant is not impressive, IMO. All this video does is feed into certain people's ideas of how African-Americans should react to what's happening and not look at the causes. It solves nothing, but it certainly makes people feel self-satisfied because this young man agrees with their inner prejudices about the black community. After all, the young man said that after being stopped "many times" by the police, he probably played his role perfectly by not questioning why he, an African-American male, driving a BMW, had to be stopped so many times by the police.

Please put the red herring back in your pocket.

The man never claimed that 'driving while black' stops don't happen. He was addressing how young men behave once stopped.

Change must come from within is the message he preaches, and it applies to every human being on the planet.

  17. ps - Now that the troopers car automatically scan license plates by the thousands, I suspect that I'll get pulled over a lot more often, especially if my check for the "Registration" hasn't quite made it to the MVA.

If I'm white, the State Police should extend the grace period before pulling me over.

So Farmer, you get stopped for no reason other than your race and you just take it?

Were you stopped because of skin color?

Have you had to take a pat down for no more reason than your skin color?

When you and RN start getting stopped for no cause your opinion will have some gravitas. Accept personal responsibility for being stopped because of your race. Bore me later.

  19. An interesting leftward slant on Gentry's tirade, Miss Shaw, but it reveals more about your particular worldview than it does about the conservative-libertarians you denigrate by implication.

In my particular worldview the Left persists in seeing things from an upside down, inside out, backwards perspective. The Left would like "The World" to modify its behavior and conform to the Left's ideas as to how things should be done -- a moral posture that often has intrinsic merit on the surface, but is guaranteed to foment strife, discord, and ever greater forms of destruction and degeneration in practice.

    WHY?

Because the Left eschews the very idea that the individual must change HIMSELF, must improve HIMSELF, most acquire skills and knowledge by and for HIMSELF before he may advance.

Instead, the Left wants to deny Reality and refashion "The World" and force it to place itself in abject SERVITUDE -- to the Downtrodden, the Disabled, the Ill-Favored, the Criminal, the Perverted, the Demented , the Anti-Social, the Malicious, the Spiteful, the Vengeful and the Moronic.

Mr. GENTRY ( lovely name! ;-) is NOT, despite your assertions to the contrary, trying to appeal the "the prejudices of the White Community," but rather to the undeniably deplorable realities of the BLACK Community.

He is speaking to BLACKS in THEIR language, and he is telling them to "man up," FACE Realty, QUIT COMPLAINING, DROP the belligerence, take RESPONSIBILITY for THEMSELVES and render themselves ACCEPTABLE to society.

PRETENDING they are acceptable when clearly they are NOT is doing THEM as much or more of a disservice as it's doing to society.

If that sounds harsh, it's just TOO DAMNED BAD, because in TRUTH it is the most LOVING thing anyone could say to these people.

The world NEVER changes to accommodate the individual. Eventually, the individual MUST learn to accommodate himself to the world or he will DIE.

A proper understanding and devoted application of CHRISTIAN precepts could save us all a great deal of agony, but NO. Instead most find it easier to look OUTSIDE themselves, point fingers, affix BLAME and make strident DEMANDS.

Repeated choruses of "Things would be so different, if they were not as they are, and ain't it a shame?" will keep us going 'round in ever-diminishng circles shrieking, cawing and clawing at each other till finally we suffer the fate of the fabled Killyloo Bird.

And if you don't know what that is, I'm not going o be the one to tell you. ;-)

  30. Ya know it’s truly amazing, that NO ONE wants to read/hear the truth about these dead thugs!
The media is a slave to its dogma and follows that dogma with a zeal that would make Torquemada and Joseph Goebbles proud.

When a white man kills a black man, the facts suddenly become irrelevant. All that matters is the narrative. The narrative is given by the media, blessed be the name of the narrative. The first thing the left wing media does is to sanctify the victim.

This was done in the Trayvon Martin case and is now being done in the Michael Brown case.
Trayvon Martin was a little thug, well on his way to a prison cell. He had stolen jewelry in his backpack at school. He fought with other people, used drugs and had twitter pictures that suggested he had purchased a handgun.
Martin tried to engage in the “knock out” game against George Zimmerman. He used a racist description of Zimmerman right before he attacked him.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The media did their best to bury those facts. When photos of the two were shown on TV or in print, it was a photo of George Zimmerman, unshaven and looking menacing juxtaposed against a photo of Martin as a 13 year old.
Zimmerman was immediately disparaged as a racist even though his history showed just the opposite. He was described as “half white, Hispanic.” In order to demonize him, Zimmerman had to be at least partially white.
When the conservative media and blogosphere exposed the truth about Trayvon Martin, they were denounced as racists even though every word about Martin was true.
When Michael Brown was killed, the same liberal media spun into action. The narrative was quickly established. Officer Darren Wilson was a racist simply because he was white. The media ignored information released by the police department that Officer Warren had injuries consistent with being in a fight.
The media quickly tried to establish the narrative that Michael Brown was a “gentle giant.” AP, ignoring its own stylebook, kept referring to him as a “teenager,” even though the stylebook that reporters are supposed to follow mandates that someone over 18 be referred to as an adult.

CNN showed photos of Brown, perhaps unaware that in some photos Brown was flashing gang signs.

Then over the objections of the Department of Justice, the Ferguson Police Department released video showing Brown committing a strong armed robbery minutes before he was killed.

The media knows the outrage killing a child/ teenager will cause. Also it's disgusting to hear tis BS.

The media dutifully reported the family’s claim that telling the truth about Brown was character assassination. Calling a cop who acted in self-defense a racist even though there is no proof of that is fine, but pointing out that Brown really was a criminal is character assassination.

The flames of Ferguson have been flamed by the media lynch mob. Some of the media, such as Chris Hayes from the Karl Marx channel (AKA MSNBC) have called for Darren Wilson’s arrest. Ignore the fact there is no proof of criminal acts by Wilson, the narrative must be fulfilled.

If anyone believes the media is unbiased and objective, well you probably believe that both Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown were choirboys. And there is some ocean front property in Tennessee that might interest you as well.

If you think the proper place to address any issues you may have with the methodology used in police stops is with the policeman that stopped you, you're far more the fool than you come across as. Pissing off the officer during a stop is a no-win situation, if you really want to piss him off, go into the station the next day and file a probable cause complaint. Make sure you get a copy of the complaint with the desk sergeant's signature and then... go back a month later and ask for a copy.

If you want change you need to do it within the system. The man in the video has far more sense than those burning the Quicki-mart and is more likely to affect change.

There's a small but lucrative market for black people who are willing to parrot conservative stereotypes, talking points, and prejudices about blacks. They provide a valuable service for the right wing, which is to provide someone the conservative can point to and say, "Hey what I'm saying can't be racist because here's a black person saying the same thing!"

I tend to think that those who do that are completely self-aware and cynical about it, and just do it for whatever reward they receive (money if they write for publication, or just the feeling of acceptance by a powerful group), but who can really know what goes on in their heads.

It's not only blacks, of course, there are similar "conservative parrot" Latinos, gays, and atheists as well.

And no, Anon, neither you nor anyone else can tell where Michael Brown's "mindset was," since we can't read people's minds, but we can get a pretty good sense of what's in your mindset by reading what you wrote.

    The Wicked Witch said...

... I've read on one of the conservative blogs that features this video that African-Americans should just be polite to the police when they're pulled over again and again and again for petty or made-up reasons because we should expect black people to tolerate that sort of profiling in the interests of making white people feel safe. /sarcasm/

Telling white people the criminal justice system is racist makes them like it more

America's criminal justice system disproportionately hurts people of color, particularly black and Hispanic men. Supporters of criminal-justice reform tend to point to that disparity as a good reason to change the system.

But as reforms move from proposals to actual bills, the key question is how to persuade the general public that change is needed. A new study suggests that highlighting racism in the criminal justice system is not the answer, and in fact pushes white voters in the opposite direction. Even when whites believe the current laws are too harsh, they're less likely to support changing the law if they're reminded that the current prison population is disproportionately black.

Michael Brown grabbing the policeman's gun and punching him is from the officer's version of events, but as CNN points out, there are "dueling narratives in the Michael Brown shooting".

As for "America's criminal justice system disproportionately hurting people of color", there is a reason that is true, and it's called institutional racism... which is something the Right would (no doubt) deny exists (that, and White privilege).

I agree that any African American would go along with this Rightwing narrative that harassment by the police due to being Black is acceptable is sad and depressing... although there does seem to be many who will.

This post does not in any way disrespect Mr Gentry. It merely disagrees with his rant and points out the irony of Mr. Gentry's admitting he's been stopped "many times" by police for no reason he reveals, while telling the black community to essentially shut up about that sort of profiling and make nice with the police who do it.

FT: "The problem I see with Leftists in general is their determination always to remain on the attack..."

Please don't say things like that, Mr. F.T., because you use your blog to attack liberals (calling them all sorts of names, including Communists and other vile things and blaming them for every problem this country faces -- and I won't even mention your calling President Obama a "dirty bastard." So when it comes to attacking, you, Mr. F.T., should not throw stones. You probably don't see what you say about liberals as attacks because you see nothing of any value in them. So no. I won't listen to you, Mr. Kettle, talking to Ms. Pot.

The above statement, Mr. F.T., perfectly describes you and your fellow travelers as well.

F.T. "The arrogance, smugness, flippancy, sarcasm and lack of humility emanating from the Left is stunning."

Your lack of self-awareness in your attacks, flippancy, smugness, sarcasm, and your lack of humility that you express against liberals at every chance you get is equally stunning. Again you have no self-awareness and that's a real problem with what you've written here.

Exactly. And that's why people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Really. Have you NEVER paid close attention to the level of malice, acerbity, animus, vengefulness and downright filth your comrades hurl at any liberal who dares to discuss anything on conservative blogs? Any time a liberal gives an opposing point of view the trolls invade your blog with the lowest level of invective and malignity anywhere to be found on the internet. But because you agree with their basic attacks, you don't see yourself as condoning their malice against "libtards, Commies, and America-haters."

    About Michael Brown:

Michael Brown Jr. (May 20, 1996 – August 9, 2014) was the son of Lesley McSpadden and Mike Brown Sr. Brown graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis eight days before his death, completing an alternative education program. His teachers said he was "a student who loomed large and didn't cause trouble", referring to him as a "gentle giant". At the time of his death, he was 6'4" (1.93m) tall and weighed 292 lb (132 kg). He was an amateur rapper and posted tracks online under the name Big'Mike.

Brown was to have started attending Vatterott College, a technical school, on August 11. According to Benjamin Crump, the lawyer representing the Brown family, Brown wanted to become a heating and cooling engineer. A friend of Brown said that while everyone else wanted to be a basketball or football player, Brown had wanted to own his own business.

  71. Before I go any farther, I do want to respond to Miss Shaw's persistent repetition of the phrase "many encounters with the police" as though it were disingenuous of Mr. Gentry to admit this on camera and NOT fiercely DENOUNCE it or angrily COMPLAIN about it, or vigorously assert that it was UNFAIR DISCRIMINATION against him, because he is a (gasp!) NEGRO.

Miss Shaw seems to imply that ONLY People of Color suffer the indignity of being stopped and questioned by the police for no reason other than their skin color.

Well, I'm here to tell you that I, personally, have been stopped and questioned by the police MANY times. These encounters ere never enjoyable, but hardy unendurable. I was "apprehended" twice in my very own upper-middle-class white suburban neighborhood when still in my teens. All I was doing was taking a late night stroll 'round the 'hood to clear my head while studying for exams.

While I found this annoying to say the least, it never occurred to me to be rude to the policeman involved, to try to fight him, or to attempt to ignore him or run away from him, and it NEVER occurred to my family to try to bring it to the attention of the Mayor and Council, the News Media and the Federal Government all the way up to the White House.

For the record I DO NOT LIKE the POLICE. I have aways regarded most of them as THUGS who've given OFFICIAL SANCTION to engage in thuggery. At the same time, however, I realize they are "a necessary evil."

    ReplyDelete
  72. But studies/statistics dispute your anecdotal experience. This is a long report that analyzes the problem but here is the noteworthy paragraph on these findings from the University of Dayton, Ohio:

The teams recorded data on more than forty-two thousand cars. With these observations, Lamberth was able to compare the percentages of African- Americans drivers who are stopped, ticketed, and arrested, to their relative presence on the road. This data enabled him to carefully and rigorously test whether blacks were in fact being disproportionately targeted for stops.

By any standard, the results of Lamberth's analysis are startling. First, the turnpike violator census, in which observers in moving cars recorded the races and speeds of the cars around them, showed that blacks and whites violated the traffic laws at almost exactly the same rate; there was no statistically significant difference in the way they drove. Thus, driving behavior alone could not explain differences in how police might treat black and white drivers. With regard to arrests, 73.2% of those stopped and arrested were black, while only 13.5% of the cars on the road had a black driver or passenger. Lambert notes that the disparity between these two numbers "is statistically vast." The number of standard deviations present--54.27--means that the probability that the racial disparity is a random result "is infinitesimally small." Radio and patrol logs yielded similar results. Blacks are approximately 35% of those stopped, though they are only 13.5% of those on the road--19.45 standard deviations. Considering all stops in all three types of records surveyed, the chance that 34.9% of the cars combined would have black drivers or occupants "is substantially less than one in one billion." This led Lamberth to the following conclusion:

Absent some other explanation for the dramatically disproportionate number of stops of blacks, it would appear that the race of the occupants and/or drivers of the cars is a decisive factor or a factor with great explanatory power. I can say to a reasonable degree of statistical probability that the disparity outlined here is strongly consistent with the existence of a discriminatory policy, official or de facto, of targeting blacks for stop and investigation. . . .. . . .. . . Put bluntly, the statistics demonstrate that in a population of blacks and whites which is (legally) virtually universally subject to police stop for traffic law violation, (cf. the turnpike violator census), blacks in general are several times more likely to be stopped than non-blacks.

I now expect the usual counter to this study: "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." When confronted with data that disputes one's claims, the usual knee-jerk reaction is to discredit the studies/stats.

  73. FOR THE RECORD:

Here is what I said to the comments disparaging Jonathan Gentry's remarks at that Leftist Blog, which shall remain nameless:

"Funny how people of the Left are almost never willing to give any credence, or show proper respect to a Black Person when he (or she) fails to conform to whatever "narrative" favor's the Left's point of view and best serves the LEFT'S Power Agenda.

    "Now you've been told."
    [emphasis added]

The response I received (you can see it above, if you want to dig it out) was politely phrased but wholly negative in its non-acceptance of every point I offered, and of course used the familiar "you've done it too" as good evidence that my assertions did not deserve to be taken seriously.

ABSOLUTE CAPITULATION is what the Left demands, OR they make it abundantly clear there will be no peace or joy in "Mudville" ever again.

Do these white liberals REALLY care about the plight of the Negro, or do they just care about getting their own way -- even if it means bringing the country down around their ears?

Michael Brown is responsible for his behavior.

Michael Brown is responsible his actions.

Michael Brown is not responsible for the vandalism in what was his community nor his he responsible for the overreaction of an overzealous police officer that took his life after 6 shoots that hit him.

WE, as members of a broader society are responsible to get to the bottom of all the facts and pass appropriate judgement on the officer responsible for firing the deadly shot that took an unarmed 18 year old life.

    You're the Top

    by Tony Hoagland

Of all the people that I've ever known
    I think my grandmother Bernice
would be best qualified to be beside me now

driving north of Boston in a rented car
    while Cole Porter warbles on the radio;
Only she would be trivial and un-

politically correct enough to totally enjoy
    the rhyming of Mahatma Ghandi
    with Napoleon brandy;

and she would understand, from 1948,
the miracle that once was cellophane,
which Porter rhymes with night in Spain.

She loved that image of the high gay life
    where people dressed by servants
turned every night into the Ritz:

dancing through a shower of just
    uncorked champagne
into the shelter of a dry martini.

When she was 70 and I was young
I hated how a life of privilege
    had kept her ignorance intact

about the world beneath her pretty feet,
how she believed that people with good manners
naturally had yachts, knew how to waltz

and dribbled French into their sentences
like salad dressing. My liberal adolescent rage
was like a righteous fist back then

    that wouldn't let me rest,
but I've come far enough from who I was
to see her as she saw herself:

    a tipsy debutante in 1938,
    kicking off a party with her shoes;
    launching the lipstick-red high heel
    from her elegant big toe

into the orbit of a chandelier
suspended in a lyric by Cole Porter,
    bright and beautiful and useless.

  90. I like that very much, Ducky. Even with the subtly implied social criticism it's very nice work -- really captures the flavor of Cole Porter's era. Mr. Hoagland seems to have had an Auntie Mame of his very own to cherish in fond memory. Everyone should be so lucky.

Having been born in New York City and having lived in close touch with my family and other members of the generation who lived through the twenties and thirties as young adults, I can say this:

Having worked their way up from poverty into the executive and professional classes, and having gone through Prohibition, endured the Depression and survived World War II -- one uncle and one of my father's closest boyhood friends in Japanese Prison Camps, -- they were well aware of the darkness always threatening to enfold us and the looming tragedies waiting in the wings to take place God knew when -- or to whom.

The light, gay, sophisticated style may have been mannered, but it was no as insubstantial as some may want to think today. It helped pass free time agreeably, and served very well as a means of keeping terror, panic -- and untoward passions -- at arm's length.

I'm a great Noel Coward-Cole Porter fan, and see a surprising amount of depth in much of their work, but I would never make the mistake of confusing that sort of thing with The St. Matthew Passion, Die Winterreise or Tristan und Isolde.

We re fortunate to live in n age when such a great smoergasbord of disparate cultural marvels is readily available to all who have an interest in such things.

  99. Now who is believing in stories, ducky?

The official statememts have all disclosed facial injuries to the police officer. That YOU haven't seen the "official" xrays is NOT my problem, ducky.

  101. Dr. Baden was on Judge Jeanine last night. Did anybody else here in this thread catch that show? Dr. Baden stated that all the shots fired appeared to have been from the front. Nevertheless, various lawyers kept screaming that Michael Brown was shot in the back. Pffffft.

  102. Thersites,
There are official x-rays of injury to the police officer?

  103. Unless and until we get absolute proof from official hospital records and sword testimony from the medics who attended him that Officer Darren Wilson suffered a broken eye socket at the hands of Michael Brown, it's best to reserve judgment, and not go off half-cicked in ANY direction.

This business of only believing what we WANT to believe and trumpeting abroad our wishful thinking as "the truth" MUST stop.

This is especially bad when done by the enemedia who SHOULD by LAW be REQUIRED to print ONLY verifiable FACTS and to present ALL sides EQUALLY.

I don't believe the sainted First Amendment should be "interpreted" to mean we have a right to practice libel, slander and malicious vilification in support of a political AGENDA without being subject to at least a full year in JAIL.

  104. FT,
Yesterday I heard that once the grand jury has returned a bill one way or the other, the evidence which the grand jury heard will be released to the public.

The grand jury is expected to conclude investigation this week.

We do know from every media source that three representatives from the White House will attend Brown's funeral tomorrow. I think that at least one of those representatives went to school with Michael Brown's mother back in high school.

In contrast, there was not a single representative from the Obama administration at the recent burial of Major General Greene at Arlington National Cemetery.

PS: Al Sharpton is scheduled to speak at Michael Brown's funeral. Not helpful!

Except that in the "official" police press conference, injuries to the officer's face were reported. To now pretend that the "official" record doesn't exist would be foolish, especially since the "unofficial" statements of witnesses have been front and center for weeks.

  106. The police officer was treated in a medical facility. It is quite likely that there ARE official x-rays. That someone forged a set, and put them out there is immaterial to the argument, except as to the actual "extent" of the officer's very REAL facial injuries.

They are. People who are harmed need to sue the reporters for libel.

  108. Not helping!

    Excerpt:

CBS interviewed three young men in Ferguson, Missouri this week.

    One protester Gunny warned officials:

“To be honest, if they don’t come and restore these neighborhoods for these people, like when you gotta go travel miles to Walmart and to get gas and stuff like that, it should be right here. If they don’t restore this community for people who stay here it’s gonna be hell to pay…"

    A second protester chimed in:

"Yeah, that’s why people looting, because they can’t get no jobs."

  109. Foreign profits held overseas by U.S. corporations to avoid taxes at home nearly doubled from 2008 to 2013 to top $2.1 trillion, said a private research firm's report, prompting a call for reform by the Senate's top tax law writer.

"The new numbers ... certainly highlight what is one of the key challenges for tax reform. I do think there need to be some reforms in this area," Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden told reporters on Tuesday on Capitol Hill.

Under U.S. law, corporations do not have to pay income tax on most of their overseas profits until they are brought into the United States. These earnings can be held offshore for years if they are classified as indefinitely invested abroad.

Research firm Audit Analytics said in a report issued last week that the total of such earnings was up 93 percent from 2008 to 2013, citing federal financial filings for companies listed in the Russell 1000 index of U.S. corporations.

Conglomerate General Electric Co had the biggest pile of earnings stored abroad, at $110 billion, the firm said.

Next were software maker Microsoft Corp, with $76.4 billion; drugmakers Pfizer Inc, with $69 billion, and Merck & Co Inc, with $57.1 billion; and high-tech group Apple Inc, with $54.4 billion, it said.

  110. There are "profits" not being repatriated AND CASH being hoarded...

A small pool of corporations is hoarding increasing amounts of unspent cash in its coffers, a factor that economists say could slow down the global economic recovery.

According to a new study by Deloitte, reported on by the Financial Times, approximately one third of the world’s largest non-financial companies on the S&P Global 1200 index is stockpiling most — 82 percent — of the $2.8 trillion in the index’s non-financial corporations’ cash holdings. Those companies are hoarding equity at the highest levels seen since at least 2000.

Non-financial companies include corporations like Apple (which has about $150 billion in cash reserves), Google and Exxon Mobil.

Economists fear that underinvestment in assets that could stimulate growth could slow the economic recovery. Companies have held increasing amounts of cash since the financial crisis, and a record 67 percent of fund managers polled by the Bank of America Merrill Lynch said they were “underinvesting” their assets.

Corporations are hoovering trillions of dollars out of the economy. Is it any wonder that black teens can't get a job?

US GDP in 2013 was $16t. That's 17%, just sitting on the sidelines.... mainly because CFO's are seeking to avoid paying taxes on it. They should declare a tax holiday for those corporations who would distribute these funds directly to shareholders, and let the shareholders pay income taxes on their stock dividends.

  111. Maybe with a nice dividend check in hand, local Ferguson shopkeepers and homeowners could afford to hire a few enterprising young men not looking for handouts.

...of course, they'd have to give up all their SNAP payments and Obamaphones...

  112. More, if you're interested.

Companies are holding twice the cash (as a %) than they did a decade ago.

The GOVERNMENT is the biggest CROOK in the Universe, the most vicious thief, the most ruthless extortionist, the most violent vandal, the cruelest murderer.

If we were able to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government, government would probably shrink to less than ONE TENTH its present size.

  114. "In contrast, there was not a single representative from the Obama administration at the recent burial of Major General Greene at Arlington National Cemetery."

    That is not true.

Right-wing media outlets criticized the Obama administration over news that three administration officials planned to attend shooting victim Michael Brown's funeral, citing the myth that the White House failed to send representation to the funeral of Maj. Gen. Harold Greene, who was killed in Afghanistan -- In reality, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel attended the two star general's service.

  115. My Goodness, Miss Shaw! I feel immensely flattered that you are monitoring my blog even more closely than I. I wish I could summon up such concern for minute details, myself, but vision problems –– and a determination to focus on more positive, less vexing, enervating things -- such as writing verse and listening to music -- gets in the way.

Incidentally, I correctly stated that no one from the Obama administration attended the funeral of MARGARET THATCHER. I never mentioned General Greene, and I don't know who did.

The point is that the president, apparently, holds the death of Michael Brown in considerably higher regard than that of far more important figures such as Mrs. Thatcher OR General Greene for that matter. Michael Brown rated THREE high officials, poor General Greene only got Chuck Hagel. (:-c

It's the obvious DISPORPORTIONALITY of the thing that offends PLUS the Obama administration's patently obvious bias AGAINST the police in Ferguson and FOR Mr. Brown. President Obama's use of the sad event as a political football is as tasteless as it is ill-advised and unjust.

Until we are in possession of ALL the FACTS, we should just SHUT UP about Ferguson. That goes for the White House along with the rest of us.
