___________ A January Man __________

Ghandi set the pattern for your feet ––
Needing methods that could overthrow
Ingrained –– entrenched –– Injustice you faced heat
Ku-Klux-Klansmen lit to bring you low.
Looking Terror squarely in the face
Many would have flinched, but you stood firm.
Relentlessly you gave courage to your race ––
Oppressed –– assessed as lower than a worm!
Truth and Courage were your sword and shield.
Cleansing us from same you spoke aloud
Of mindless meanness –– our disgrace revealed.
Despite denials, our heads are bowed.
O, martyred man of God, you had one flaw
They say, but we look back on you with awe.

    1. What was so great about him, Kid? He was Black Muslim who made a lot of noise then got himself shot by a fellow black.

But I admit I never spent much time "studying" him. I've never liked rabble rousers or "revolutionaries" of any kind. If I'd been around in 1776, I probably would have urged everyone to stick with King George.

Considering the hopeless bas we've made of the sacrifices made by the Founders, I might have been right. After all, isn't the tyranny and oppression we've been suffering with from Leftist Revolutionaries far worse than anything King George III ever visited on us?

We're talking excessive taxation, burdensome regulation, and micro-management of our domestic affairs –– toilets, light bulbs, soft drinks, and POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

What DO you think of MLK, Jr. –– or would it be best not to say? ;-)

    2. Malcolm. He read the democrats for what they were. He didn't care for republicans but recognized the dems as being pure evil.

I thought he gave up on islam too.

MLK? I like the non-violence aspect of his movement. Beyond that I don't know much about him. I wasn't paying that much attention in those days.

  2. MLK IS NOT A GOD, And neither is John Lewis, so let's STOP treating either one as if they were.

    1. No one is doing that HERE, Tom, or have you been too preoccupied posting BOILERPLATE to notice what OTHERS think and do?

  3. MLK, as you call him was under the suspicion of the FBI for several years (until he died) due to his ties with communist organizations throughout the country. King accepted money from the organizations to fund his movements. In return, King had to appoint communist leaders to run certain districts of his SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference), who then could project their communist ideas to larger audiences. A federal judge in the 60's ruled that the FBI files on King links to communism to remain top-secret until after he died. So why he was made into such a hero is beyond me.

    1. I was aware of all that, Tom, but those in power for whatever reason have claimed that it was all debunked ––as a series of vicious lies and half-truths created and promoted by rabid right wing racists to try to discredit one of the greatest leaders we've ever been privileged to have willing to serve our countries most implant needs.

True or not THAT is the impression the powerful have firmly implanted in our minds.

There are LOTS of things like that. For instance:

      1. NIXON was an arch fiend and a dirty crook whose nefarious deeds threatened and gravely imperiled the very nature of our 'democracy.".

      2. Jews should be held immune from any form of criticism or questioning of their motives and methodology because of the centuries of suffering they've endured. jews can do no wring, and if they do, you'd better not say so, because you could lose your job, be subject to legal harassment, or be ostracized.

      3. We must refer to all women as Ms So-and So, because Mrs. and Miss are discriminatory mail chauvinist concepts design to humiliate and subjugate women to male domination.

      4. Islam is a religion of peace.

      5. Mention of God in public discriminates against atheists and people who don't share our basic Christian beliefs, and must therefore be kept entirely private.

      6. Global Warming is "Settled Science," so those who dare to question it should be denounced, humiliated and put in jail.

      7. It's "offensive" to call Native Americans "Indians."

      8. It's morally indefensible to refer to African-Americans as Negroes, or Colored People, despite the existence of the NAACP and the United Negro College Fund.

      9. It's offensive to refer to people from china, Japan, Korea or andy where in Southeast Asia as "ORIENTALS." in fact there ORIENT, itself, is now deemed inherently pejorative to the inhabitants of Asian countries.

      10. We must call Peking Beijing now, or be criticized and defamed for being reactionary if we do not. It's the same with Mumbai (Bombay), Myanmar (Burma) and Sri Lhanka (Ceylon). Even Great Britain now seems to want everyone to call it "The UK."

And on and on it goes.

As far as MLK, Jr's ties to Communism are concerned I think it's safe to say that ALL people who consider themseives deprived or oppressed have found Marxism attractive. His apologists and defenders like to claim he was a registered Republican.

As to why his reputation has been elevated to its present exalted station I would say that American Negroes have had a desperate need for an icon, a hero, a positive role model of whom they can feel proud. Most in authority in our governmeant have been highly sympathetic to that need, and so Martin Luther King, Jr. got to be IT more or less by acclamation. One of those cases where "Someone Had To Do It."

If anyone this he has a better explanation, please let him come forth and share it. We;ll be all ears, unless the comments are couched as personal insults, taunts, jibes and spiteful challenges, which WE WILL NOT TOLERATE from ANYONE.

  6. I THINK YOU WILL LIKE THIS:

Twas the night before Inauguration, and up in the tower, The Donald reflected on his newfound power.
The conservative masses had come out in force, And delivered a victory that would chart a new course.
The snowflakes were shell-shocked with tears in their eyes, The media lied to them . . . What a surprise.
They had been promised a Hillary win,
But the criminal Clinton took one on the chin.
And though from all corners celebrities flew, They made no impression, for they hadn’t a clue.
They talked about climate, racism, and such,
And they made up good stories . . . But didn’t know much.
The fake news and ignorance came at a cost, And they can’t understand all the reasons they lost. They blame it on Comey and Bernie and Vlad,
But fail to acknowledge the one that was bad.
Yes, Hillary Clinton, in many ways flawed, Was her own biggest hurdle toward getting the nod. The campaign exposed her corruptness and greed,
And her speeches were punch-less as ten dollar weed.
So out in the streets there arose such a clatter, It was Soros-paid protestors and Black Lives Matter. With cities to pillage and windows to smash, They knew not the issues, but needed the cash.
Eight years of Obama had given them cause, To expect a replacement of their Santa Claus. But soon the protestors will feel the pain, When the wheels fall off of the old gravy train.
And now all the snowflakes are riddled with fear, Upset and offended by things that they’ll hear. The cocoa and crayons will help for a while, But fact-based opinions will soon cramp their style.
I originally supported, and voted, for Cruz, In the end, I would vote for whoever they choose. He wasn’t my first choice, but soon I would cede,
The one they call Trump is the one that we need.
I saw him on TV in front of a crowd,
He spoke about veterans, it made me feel proud. He spoke about energy, safety, and jobs, Taking this country back from the Washington snobs.
He was dressed in Armani, all tailored and neat, And the Brunos he wore made the outfit complete. For a man of his vintage, he seemed rather fit,
And he looked presidential, I have to admit.
His eyes glowed like embers, his smile was the best, And his hair was the color of my old hunting vest. His love for this country was on full display,
And his actions spoke louder than his words could say.
He thanked all his voters, and before he was gone, Saved thousands of jobs while Obama looked on. The fate of this country left nothing to chance,
So, he filled out his cabinet weeks in advance.
The men he had chosen were of the same mind, Let’s set the bar high, and not lead from behind. He picked up his phone as he rose from his seat,
With a flick of his finger, he sent out this tweet; "Now Mattis!, now Kelly!’ now Sessions! And Pruitt! On Perry! On Flynn, You’re the ones who can do it.
Start lifting restrictions and building the wall, Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”; The roar of his audience rose from the stands,
He kissed all their babies and shook all their hands. He answered their questions and calmed all their fears,
They knew it would be a fantastic four years. Then he jumped in his limo, and off to his jet, A fellow that Liberals won’t soon forget.
He sent one more tweet as the evening expired; "Happy Inauguration to all, AND OBAMA – YOU’RE FIRED!”

    1. I DO! Did you write it? It's very well, done.

I hope you don't mind if I lift and reformat it, then feature it soon? I'll give YOU full credit, of course.

      Thanks!
