From My House to Your Heart

Happy Times to All this Christmas Season. May the Love that is supposed to be born anew each year to reign over us manifest itself in each and every heart, and may the coming New Year be kinder, gentler, and more charitable to all. And above all may greater Understanding grow in our hearts along with a growing aversion to Clamor, Dissension, Sarcasm, Rudeness,
and Condescension.

  1. A season of good will before the Clamor, Dissension, Sarcasm, Rudeness, and Condescension reach screeching levels in an election year.

    Ah, well.

    Merry Christmas 2015!

We have to work on making ourselves bastard-proof in the New Year.

  3. Forget to mention that I like the red bows.

I, too, use a lot of bows. Even Ambie's apartment (the back porch) has a big Christmas bow in it. Cats love the color red.

BTW, my Christmas tree is smaller than yours. Wish that I had one the size that you have, FT.

    1. Alas! My kitties are never permitted to enter the Drawing Room –– unless they are firmly seated on my lap -- one at a time. You can imagine how long that tends to last. ;-)

  4. FT,
Is that a console stereo in the dining area?

    1. No. It's a Danish-modern teakwood sideboard. The house here has aspirations towards being an elegant evocation of the Colonial Revival style popular among the well-to-do in the 1920's. It does tend to give that impression at first glance, but a more careful look with a well-informed critical eye shows it to be far more eclectic.

The whole place is purely the product of Serendipity. Everything is second-hand, except the sheets and towels, etc.

    2. FT,
Almost all our furniture is at least second-hand. Many of the pieces we have were passed down as far back as the 1860's.

  11. What a warm and wonderful Christmas scene! I love the green goblets with the red tablecloth. It all looks very inviting, warm, hospitable, and festive. Be careful or you will have your entire mailing list descend upon you next year. I am wondering what’s on the menu to complement the table setting?

All best wishes for a happy, healthy, sane, and peaceful new year.

Love and cheers and thanks for all your thoughtful poems and illustrations. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
