What are your thoughts concerning the possibilities there might be in this week's Republican National Convention?
Are you more concerned about the much-touted threat of murderous attacks on the police, the promise by professional troublemakers such as Malik “Zulu” Shabazz of blocking highways, rioting in the streets, etc., or is the content and substance of the party Platform
uppermost in your mind?
What do you think of the machinations of the stubborn Never Trump element in the GOP determined to thwart Donald Trump’s nomination on the convention floor? Have they any chance of prevailing, and if so,
who would be their nominee?
who would be their nominee?

I predict the press will go all giddy and wet their pants at every slight hint of discord, and trumpet said discord until we're all sick of it. The Germans call it "ein Krankhiet"
ReplyDeleteAnd that's the way it is!
Actually, they call it KRANKHEIT, [I believe that was dear Uncle Walter's name before it got anglicized or Americanized, if you prefer] but no matter. Your analysis is probably all too correct.
DeleteOur hope lies in the eventual REJECTION by a weary, strife-torn public of the ENEMEDIA ESTABLISHMENT that has been leading America down the Garden Path for many decades.
Vanquishing the ENEMEDIA Power Bloc should be the primary objective of every thinking, patriotic American.
Thank you for pointing out and correcting my typo.
DeleteBless you, my son, for your most gracious contrition; now go and sin more. ;-)

Trump Is Their Nominee
People who write and say hate about Trump are playing in to Trump's hands. He wants division. He wants you to enhance the message he has. Trump and Clinton are tied in the national polls. If Trump is so bad, where is the condemnation for the American people who voted?
It seems those who hate Trump so much are too cowardly to call American voters the same scum like words they use about Trump.
Trump is the choice of 40% of the American people, not just 45% of Republicans. Clinton is the choice of 55% of Democrats, but still only 40% of Americans nationally.
These haters on the left even attacked Sanders whose only crime was to try and win the nomination of the Democratic party. Seems the Clinton supporters use hate against anyone challenging their candidate. But it's the American people casting the votes to make Trump a front runner.
It's not the Trump supporters who started the violence in the streets. It's not Trump supporters who are killing our cops. That violence is being done by forces on the left. So who are the scum that earn our condemnation?
Those whose ideas are repugnant, or those whose ideas drive people to violence? Either way it's hate driving this election and our decision on who to vote for.
I'm not joining that hate. I don't write hate about either Trump, or Clinton. I don't post silly pictures, cartoons, or videos that cast candidates as Hitler, or other evil killers. I do write about what I think is a good, or bad course for America and its politics. And hate is not a basis for voting, or not voting for anyone.
But you go ahead and try to convince people who to vote for based on hate and just add to the already vitriolic atmosphere. That will help. That will solve our problems - NOT.
You were doing fine until the last two paragraphs when self-righteousness surfaced and started to cast aspersions on an amorphous body of "others" by a series of not-so-subtle implications.
DeleteWhat some would insist constitutes "hate," is often intended as tongue-in-cheek humor, burlesque, lampoon or satire –– a time-honored tradition in American politics since our inception as a sovereign nation.

I'm not surprised things being what they are, but so far the MUSIC at the RNC convention is DEPLORABLE –– loud, coarse, aggressively vulgar, devoid of moral worth and intellectual and spiritual content –– a PITIFUL reflection on our National Taste, if such it could be called.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold comfort to be morally certain the same –– or worse –– will hold trueat the Democratic Convention.
PANDERING always to the LOWEST, COMMON DENOMINATOR is the single most prominent factor in having brought us down to our present abysmal level.
MADISON AVENUE, the POISON IVY LEAGUE, and the "PROFESSIONAL" POLITICAL CLASS are equally responsible for this colossal affront to basic decency and human dignity.

FT,
DeleteI'm not surprised things being what they are, but so far the MUSIC at the RNC convention is DEPLORABLE –– loud, coarse, aggressively vulgar, devoid of moral worth and intellectual and spiritual content –– a PITIFUL reflection on our National Taste, if such it could be called.
It's all about the mass appeal. Madison Avenue all the way because that's what political conventions are.
Jeepers creepers FreeThinke, lighten up man! Music was the best part so far.
DeleteAnd THAT is PRECISELY what's WRONG with this nation, AOW. We under to the LCD instead of doing our best to EDIFY and ELEVATE at every possible opportunity.
DeleteMass Appeal is ASS Appeal, and that's all I'm going to say about it.
As I said above:
PANDERING always to the LOWEST, COMMON DENOMINATOR is the single most prominent factor in having brought us down to our present abysmal level.
MADISON AVENUE, the POISON IVY LEAGUE, and the "PROFESSIONAL" POLITICAL CLASS are equally responsible for this colossal affront to basic decency and human dignity.
And Jim Dandy, old boy, if you want to be an ass, please be my guest, but I'M not buying your point of view. I see you as just another VICTIM of the forces enumerated above.
Fred Barnes at Weekly Standard has performed a concise and well-written public service:
ReplyDeleteYup, She's Crooked
Thank you. I read it, and would have pasted in a truncated version, but it proved to be an electronic impossibility. The Weekly Standard has been o]n my sh-tlist, because of Bill Kristol's idiotic attempt to discredit Donald Trump. Like it or not Donald is THE MAN.
DeletePeople resent him because he is TOUGH and has real GUTS and isn't afraid of anyone or a thing. I also see beyond his brash facade that he –– unlike his rotten opponents on the Left –– is basically decent, good-hearted person. I like his grown children from what I've seen of them so far.
Frankly, I can't think of a single reason for his making this run other than being motivated by a strong belief that our country has been gravely imperiled by the malice and stupidity of previous administrations, he thinks he's the right man to get things up and running again.
I hope I'm right, but even if not, I'd rather see Trump fail, than see that venal harridan derive any more ill-gotten gains from yet-another undeserved, unwarranted term in office.
The slimmest volume in any library has to be entitled The Positive Accomplishments of Hillary Rodham Clinton.
As I've been reading on the regressive a board about all the BS she's and her freaky cohorts have been writing about Mr. Trump and she even devotes a day every eeek to spread her Horse Manure about The Donald.. I' couldn't help thinking about this for a few days . Why no positive things written about the hildabitch, no one championing her accomplishments, policy proposals or fantastic campaign appearances. Not even one mention of her lies, or the phoney Clinton Foundation.
DeleteAll I'm seeing regressives posting are propaganda articles from her left wing hate sites bashing the opposition. I guess there's nothing to crow about in her party.
Come on now you regressive old witch convince us that your horrorable old hag has something positive to brag about. If you can!
DOW posts another record high today. I think this is "off topic," since it seems to show confidence in the Republican Party. We'll see ...
ReplyDeleteA note to you progressives about you and your Messiah is a raging narcissist .And you have to be a lunatic, and a sociopath, keep on supporting this idiot, who is an insult to the presidents that served before him. The only thing he's good at is turning Blacks against Shites and Dhites against Blacks. And lying more readily than normal humans breathe, and defrauding everyone he comes into contact with. Y'all make sure to send him more money to line his pockets with. And remember that when you vote for that Lesbo Hillary, you're going to get more of the same.
ReplyDeleteAll right, but what GOOD could you hope to accomplish by letting off steam like that? No conservative-libertarian admires President Obama, but "we" only make ourselves look bad when we stoop to nothing but name-calling.
DeleteWell FT, so much for your conservative freedom of speech . I guess that don't apply if someone like myself is a member of the opposing party, but I'll give it another try,
ReplyDeleteI voted for Hillaryin the primary last time around as well. It’s getting difficult to remember these seven years or more. But if I am recalling this correctly, Obama and Hillary were running a close heat in several contested states. Some states were winner-take-all, others split up their delegates. But before every vote and every state could be completely accounted for, there was sort of a caucus coup d’etat led by our own Jimmy Carter where several delegates from across the nation spontaneously pledged their allegiance to Senator Obama. Hillary was pushed out by the democratic old boys network.
The PUMAs were devastated. I tried to comfort some of them that I was acquainted with, because I knew that Hillary would bide her time and run again, but they wouldn’t hear it. I just wonder if she will ever have that exciting momentum again that she had in 2008. I don’t really see anyone blogging about Hillary that much. I think it’s understood that most liberals support her even if we do like Sanders, or maybe the other way around for some people.
I just wonder if she ever really can attain the highest office in the land given the climate of irrational hatred of both Clintons that people like yourself and the the right-wing propaganda machine has generated almost non-stop ever since Bill took office twenty-two years ago.
Well, Sue, you've adopted a much more civil, reasonable, measured tone, and that's all I require. I don't ask everyone to agree with me, but I'm trying very hard to stop this business of just lobbing grenades from behind the barricades at each other.
DeleteAs you've no doubt gathered, I don't like Hillary Clinton or her husband, and I do make fun of them unmercifully at times, so I'm as guilty as the next person of being "mean," but I don't try to post my more outrageous sentiments at blogs where I know they would not be welcome.
While we talking to and no at each other, I wish you'd tell me what it is about Hillary you like so much that you earnestly want her to be our next president?
I've given her very high marks for toughness, endurance and perseverance, but beyond that I can't see what appeal and wha virtues she might have. that I can't discern.
I'm glad that the Police Dept, and the sheriff of Baton Rouge told everyone who the real problem is in all these recent murders of police: The police themselves. They were very honest and admited their faults and failures. And only the Blzc Thugs and trouble makers can stop the violence against them by so-called "protesters" be reduced. The protesters and murderers, don'tcha know, are right.
ReplyDeleteAnd this pronouncement has been publicly, and deliberately, uttered, not by some leftist internet nutcase, not by some radical liberal thug, but by the President of the United States. Just a day ago, when her stood there and told the country ghost we need to go some soul sherching
Good God. How much more of this crap are we going to get from this LOSER!
We'll have to wait till Inauguration Day in January of 2017 to see the end of "him" –– IF we're lucky.
DeleteWell, the Cr00z L00zers made big asses of themselves and turned a routine day into a circus. Go GOP!
ReplyDeleteNothing is more obnoxious than a sore loser, unless it's a chronic scold.
DeleteFT,
DeleteNothing is more obnoxious than a sore loser
Exactly!
Louie Moreau Gotcha said
DeleteAint it de troof?
I have watched a few portions of the convention.
ReplyDeleteThree thoughts:
1. Rudy Giuliani's speech was a rousing barn burner. The speech of the night as far as I'm concerned.
2. Sean Smith's mother gave a moving speech and brought me to tears. Yes, Hillary Clinton lied to Mrs. Smith's face. Despicable!
3. Sheriff David Clarke was spot on! Apparently his speech earned an A rating from Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Remarkable!
I agree, but have you nothing to say about Melania Trump's appearance? I was frankly devoted by her great charm as well as her abundant good looks.
DeleteOf COURSE, the ENEMEDIA –– including FOX –– had to jump in right away to do their best to spoil the moment by accusing the lovely Mrs. Trump of having "plagiarized" her speech from one given by Michelle Obama in 2008.
Was this just stupidity, or was it deliberate sabotage by an embodied D'Rat operative who'd infiltrated the "Speech Writing Committee?"
The more the Republican Establishment, the D'Rats, the Poison Ivy League and the Enemedia express their hatred of Mr. Trump, the better I like him.
FT,
DeleteI didn't see Melania Trump's speech last night, nor did I see Donald Trump's grand entrance. Therefore, I didn't comment on those matters. I'm too ill to spend time looking up videos this morning.
All this about Melania Trump's speech being cribbed in a tempest in a teapot, IMO.
Addendum...
DeleteNow that I've once again heard Michelle Obama's 2008 speech (courtesy of all the news networks this morning), I remember how I felt at the time: Hooray!
Now I think: If only...
FT,
DeleteThe more the Republican Establishment, the D'Rats, the Poison Ivy League and the Enemedia express their hatred of Mr. Trump, the better I like him.
Same here.
John Kasich's being a no-show speaks to much that is wrong with the GOP today. Did he or did he not sign the pledge to support the nominee?
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I also agree with certain analysts who said it was ill-advised, even downright stupid for the oilers that be ti seat the Ohio delegation at the rear of the hall, which looks ike a deliberately spiteful gesture. The convention is happening in OHIO –– a state Republicans most desperately need to win in November –– antagonizing Ohio in its hime turf is idiotic.
DeleteAnother resin why The Evil Party always seems to be a The Stupid Party. Even when the ;after wins, they still ACT like losers.
And that is precisely WHY Mr. Trump against insuperable odds was able to gain so much traction.
Say what you may, but I say .........At least is will be great to have a First Lady who is and who HAS been proud of this country for a change. Having such a 1st Lady again will be awesome.
ReplyDeleteBenghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi .
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Rudy wasn't properly medicated.
But there is little doubt in my mind that we are watching neofascism on parade.
The entire convention was Nothing but hate.

ReplyDeleteThe Trumpistas as trying to blow off the criticisms about Melania's plagiarized-from-Michelle-Obama speech, but it speaks to how awful the Trump campaign is and how disorganized and chaotic it is. If the Trumpster clown can't do better than that in a freakin' convention, how will he handle the very serious business of being a president?

ReplyDeleteBut their tune will change after their lying candidate gets her fat ass ha fed to her in November.
PLEASE tone down the heavy sarcasm, bitter denunciation, and deliberate unkindness. Such rhetoric only makes YOU look bad. It makes you sound exactly like the people you profess to despise.

Big Democrap Lies:
ReplyDelete"Hillary didn't break the law"
"Melania Trump plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech"
And the rotten shitters in the ENEMEDIA repeat the lies. The FBI said Hellary broke the law--they just determined that she was too big to jail.
Melania rolled out some fairly stock phrases about parents instilling values, etc. Others had uttered those stock platitudes before Michelle Obama came along.
All this idiotic, leftwing hateful noise reminds me of the old joke:
"Professor Burbleton knew he'd never hear the end of it when he accidentally broke wind in the echo chamber."
Thank you for the first –– and so far the only –– well-reasoned comment on the Melania Trump "Speech Kerfuffle."
DeleteIn my view it wasn't Melania's WORDS that mattered anyway, but the charming, beguiling way she DELIVERED them.
Not voting for Hillary Clinton isn’t about her gender. It’s about mot wanting lying POS for my president .
ReplyDeleteJust as not supporting Barack Obama had everything to do with his rotten background, subversive, anti-American political and religious affiliations, his crypto-Marxist philosophy, and whatsoever NOTHING to do with his identity s a NEGRO.

ReplyDelete"The years have not been kind to the GOP; we must all grow older, but the ceaseless tread of time's golf shoes has treated those cranky oldsters like an unreplaced and unwanted divot in the game of life," I reflected upon watching the convention last night, full of shrunken heads in an otherwise unremarkable display of roadside oddities and tourist attractions much like any of the dozens of other such stands that, along with poorly constructed political shanties that advertised "free copies of the constitution" and adult XXX films featuring Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich and Phyllis Schlafly, usually sporting names like "Ma and Pa's Whip and Chain Heaven," or "Donnie spanks Hillary" dotted the otherwise unremarkable landscape along Cleveland's grimy streets.
ReplyDeleteThe years have not been kind to Onama either, the last time I saw him making that dumb speech he looked like a Zombe
DeleteHighly relevant gibberish IMO. Apparently the years have scrambled your neurons.
Delete. Malania Trump is a elegant, classy, beautiful, and extremely intelligent, well educated women. She's a businesswoman in her own right, and speaks five languages. Moochell gets by with only two, English and ebonics.
ReplyDeleteSo Melania Trump's speeches plagiarized from Michelle Obama's speech?
ReplyDeleteGeeez, I must have left the room when Melania said " for the first time in my life I'm proud of my country"!
From the photos and videos I've seen, it looked like a lot of the speakers practiced their speeches on a balcony while raising their hands in a "special" salute.
ReplyDeleteLast nights outraougoods activities at that hate fest including Melania Trump's so called speech. This turns this night into a catastrophe. This is a plagiarized speech, hands down, game, set, match on that. What an outrageous disservice to Melania Trump by the speech writers on that campaign. Nicole Wallace talked earlier today about the fact that the Trump campaign such as it is is not configured like a normal political campaign. And maybe you don't need to be configured like a normal campaign. We know tonight, as you watch the incongruity between the speeches, the lack of a theme, the lack of a connection, the day starting off with the targeting and attacking the Ohio governor, right through the end of the program. Hamilton on Broadway is a great show, a great production, no one leaves it early. Tonight, in the middle of a show, and be clear, this is a show, a lot of people left it early. This is not a good first night, and now you have brought scandal to a prospective First Lady in the form of her convention speech. Just an outrageous incompetence and disservice to her by that campaign. If this frost night was an indication of what's to come, I'm going to watch some movies on DVD's and enjoy myself. Maybe order s Pizza. Why put myself through this misery ?
ReplyDeleteCriticism of the prospective first lady's speech at a convention is something best left to rakes and scoundrels.
ReplyDeleteGiven the set of circumstances surrounding Ms. Trump's speech, it appears there is a mischief-maker in the Trump campaign.
ReplyDeleteI also note this was about four sentences of well-used stock phrases out of a 15 minute speech.
Biden stole whole life stores from Neil Kinnock, and Obama cribbed whole Deval Patrick riffs that were unique to Patrick.
See for yourself:
http://heavy.com/news/2016/07/melania-trump-joe-biden-plagiarism-allegations-plagiarized-speech-barack-obama-neil-kinnock-deval-patrick/
We seem to have forgotten too that St. Martin Luther King, Jr. plagiarized much of his doctoral thesis at Boston University. But I guess we're supposed to overlook that, because he was who he was, right?
DeleteOf course political rhetoric is so fraught with platitudes, shibboleths, stock phrases and worn out clichés it would be astonishing if anyone in public life ever DID present something wholly original.
It was the polished, cultivated, utterly charming and beguiling MANNER in which Mrs.Trump presented her speech that set it apart. Its almost as if the words, themselves, didn't matter all that much.
It is DISGUSTING the way our enemedia culture of incessant Fault-finding, Scab-picking, Defamation and Denigration thrives as it surely erodes and hoses away the public's faith in our country while implying that anyone ambitious enough to seek public office must categorically be considered no damned good from the moment he or she arrives on the scene.
Here are more links describing Democrat plagiarism!

http://theamericanmirror.com/flashback-obama-plagiarized-george-w-bush/
Much ado about nothing. It's the real speech writer's fault. The one Trump didn't fire.
ReplyDelete
