Maybe Not So Funny After All, Eh?

    1. If people cannot learn to ci]ntrol THEMSELVES, someone will ALWAYS come along to take charge. Careless, feckless, idiotic, wayward people who've been deprived of good parenting and a sound moral education become "loose cannons" –– a grave danger to themselves, and an even greater danger to all of society.

      Nature abhors a vacuum.

  2. Ah, Chicago, the "Jersey's body" of American cities (and I just pulled my old broken neck out a few days ago and now can barely move or tolerate being awake! More doctors! Yeah!!! And I'm already set for two or more lower-abdominal surgeries after chemo! Yeah!!! Thank God for friends like you, FT).

Of course, it would help to understand why Chicago is going through this, and it gets to some interesting political hot spots.

Most of the crime in Chicago is concentrated in a few very poor, predominantly black neighborhoods on the South and East sides of the city. As is often the case, in order for these folks to make money, many are lured into the illegal drug trade. For a long time, black gangs controlled these activities. Then came the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel, and things started to get real ugly.

We saw this in Los Angeles in back a generation ago, we saw this in New York, with other groups but the same motivations, back then too. But in Chicago this a new phenomenon. The connection between Sinaloa and Chicago is the food packaging industry. Chicago remains the food commodity center of the world, and it's no coincidence that with NAFTA, and it's food commodity centered nature, that Chicago wound up importing the drug cartels with the cheap labor in that sector. The old gang model was threatened, and next thing ya' know, bodies are piling up. We've seen this play out in cities throughout America throughout it's history as new groups push against old groups and conflicts arise. This is about drugs, free trade, disproportionate political representation, and race.

Rather than just doing more of the same, we should be considering things like decriminalizing drug abuse and low-level sales, federal urban renewal programs to bring in new businesses, gun buy-back programs, stuff like that. Chicago is not Syria. It's not even all the violent, compared to many other cities. But it has some real problems that could use some real solutions rather than just more of the same failed warring upon ourselves.

    1. JMJ,
I just pulled my old broken neck out a few days ago and now can barely move or tolerate being awake! More doctors! Yeah!!! And I'm already set for two or more lower-abdominal surgeries after chemo!

      Good Lord!

As one who has had five surgeries since June -- one of those surgeries a major abdominal one -- I feel for ya.

Neurogenic pain has set in. I will find out next week if there's anything physical to fix when I have yet another kidney scan. But the pain specialist has, so far, found no specific nerve to block.

I suggest that you have on hand several of those microwavable grain packs -- at least one for the freezer and at least one for the microwave.

      I have one like THIS.

There are others as well -- for example.

      Heat works best for me.

These grain packs are much safer and much more convenient to take to bed than an electric heating pad.

  3. I saw something in the news (Probably RT.com since they never talk moslem vermin here) where some government officials said they Have to do this massive importation of muslims to save their economies and strengthen their welfare systems. Yes.

The most moronic thing I've ever heard in my life.

    1. Certainly high on the list of competitors for the Darwin Awards, Kid.

But please clue me in –– what is RT.com? Initials, acronym,s and NUMBERS always leave me cold.

In many ways I am very stupid. Certainly behind the times.

Yeah. Violent criminals caught in the act should be SHOT DEAD on the spot, and carted to the nearest incinerator. Trials for scum like that are a total waste of taxpayer's money.

  5. These so called artists, that I would rather call No- Talent Hypocrites, who advocate open Borders and Gun Control while they live surrounded by Walls and Armed Guards. Damn hypocrites. Are having a Great Old Time just pretending that they give a damn about the regular Americans while they make their Statement on the Red Carpet

    1. True, Mrs.P, but THIS post is about the incredible irony of CHICAGO's very possibly being as dangerous, –– or even more dangerous –– than a MIDDLE EASTERN WAR ZONE.

Have you nothing to say about THAT?

  7. When people watch an awards show they want to see the awards show. Not those A-holes who Parade around in their Pussy Hats. We don't care about all the crap complaining and whining. Do you take away from the glamour by complaining about Trump instead of getting Awards. Isn't that just like a wacko Liberal.

Keep it on that dumb Saturday Night Live crappy show. That way I can Shut them all down at the same time.

  8. How many of the elite classless, entertainers, live in a walled compound. I doubt they construct those walls and have armed body guards to keep people in.

Zuckerberg bought an estate in Hawaii and now is building a wall to keep out uninvited guests. It is OK for the elites but not for the commoner to try to protect themselves.
Liberals are all for giving away your rights and money as long as we don't touch theirs.
