  1. Don't recall Obama saying anyyhing about an open door policy. Is it possible transparency, in the President's mind anyway, was meant to mean the select inner circle?

In politics and government words often don't mean what they mean.

  2. This president -- as Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and others have done before them -- promised "the most transparent administration in U.S. History."

What he has given us is anything but, of course.

I, personally, disapprove of this apparent vogue followed by those more eager to appear virtuous and filled with integrity than to win battles. To "give the devil his due" is to ensure that dirty bastard's victory and secure your own resounding defeat.

Like it or not we are in a war -- a battle for the very soul of our nation.

"ALL is fair in Love and War," and the ONLY proper objective in war is to WIN -- IF you believe in the rectitude of your cause, that is.

The wish-washy, faint-hearted, and indecisive are bound to end like Hamlet, who as you may remember was killed before he could make up his weak mind as to which course of action he should pursue. His weak-chinned quibbling and shilly-shallying brought about the tragic, unnecessary death of many others as well.

  3. Those who doubt the appropriateness of the symbolism in today's cartoon ought to read this:

There's a "hot" link to the article at Always On Watch in Today's edition of Nincompoopery .

  4. Winning this war you speak of. which at this point anyway is rhetorical, will be possible only if a majority of people accept the rights arguments as truth and trust the leadership. After Bush/Cheney, followed by two exceeding weak republican candidates, and a conservative/republican movement/party out of touch with the American people the road to "victory" will be difficult.

America IMV is still fiscally conservative but becoming more socially liberal. Unless, and until the republicans conservatives, and libertarians cast a wider net, become more inclusive, and reasonable the battle will be uphill and may be lost.

Do not mistake thoughtful reason or reasonable debate leading to a win win as weakness. If you do, prepare to take up arms and accept the ultimate consequences of your decision. Whatever they may be.

Contrary to popular Tea Party and extremist rhetoric we do not live under tyranny. If the causes and politics you believe in are sound advocates need only convince a majority to vote in favor.

PS: Voting the lesser of two evils simply delays the inevitable.

  5. we do not live under tyranny.

What would the "unemployment" rate have to reach for you to believe otherwise? 30%? 50%?

That the State of Maryland's legislature is currently study how to best cultivate a "marijuana industry" is but proof positive that our lives are over-regulated... for if I want a joint, I could get one (illegally) tomorrow... without any of their "thoughtful deliberation".

  6. In toher words, the "State's" interest has become one of picking regulatory "winners" and "losers", not of safeguarding its' citizens against use/abuse of "dangerous" substances.

  7. Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.

  8. Interesting that you cheer Thersites on here, in my judgement these rhetorical techniques are profoundly dishonest.

Yes, quoting Thomas Jefferson would seem "dishonest" to someone like you. :)

  10. These pages would seem to indicate there must be some substance to the old saw about communicating on "different wavelengths."

Or maybe we really have been secretly infiltrated by humanoid aliens from another planet?

Do you disagree that Thersites tricks above (non sequitor, equivocation etc.), or can you see them, but you approve?
