    1. And I sang the one presented in the graphic, too. How did you find that one?

    2. How did I find the cartoon? I spend a good hour each day scanning many sites, and googling all sorts of specific images. When something leaps out at me as "appropriate," I grab it, and Bob's your uncle!

    3. Do you think it would be a good idea if Blogger, Disqus and the other blogging facilities made it possible to record our VOICES and post what we say –– or read –– as easily as we post the written word? It COULD be fun, but it also expands the potential for the CHRONIC ABUSE of which we see far too much. (I, for instance, have to jettison more than half the remarks that come in, because I REFUSE to ALLOW THIS PLACE to be used as a PUBLIC TOILET.)

But to add the warmth and expressive quality of the human voice to poems and literary excerpts could be a wonderful addition to blogging.

    1. Satire for me is a powerful weapon in cutting our enemies down to size by making fun of them, TMW. It's been around probably as long as mankind has been literate, and possibly before.

Most of the works of Gilbert & Sullivan elegantly satirized the British Establishment of their time, though few of us recognize the objects of their lampooning today. It may have cut a little too close to the bone every so often, because Queen Victoria, herself, famously stated, "We are not amused" –– in public after seeing one of their presentations.

We love G&S still, because their work is tuneful, energetic, fun to see, sometimes wistfully beautiful, an d always full of colorful spectacle and merriment.

    1. It's kinda been done already in the cartoon, Jersey, don't you think?

BUT you're welcome to try, if you think you're up to the job. The SCANSION in the cartoon is poor, though the idea is cte.

I'm a stickler for good scansion. Jerky, bumpy, irregular rhythm makes for poor verse. Merely rhyming the end of each line is nowhere near good enough.
