Synchronicity! I, too, have posted some post-Christmas cheer, albeit nothing along the lines of this blog post.
ReplyDeleteVive la difference!
DeleteI think this is the first time White Christmas was sung in a movie. Do you –– or does anyone else –– know when the first recording came out?
Funny how the tune became so popular! It started a trend where so-called "Christmas Songs" never contained the slightest HINT of the Birth and Presence of Jesus Christ in our lives.
Can you name at least three other pointedly non-Christian Christmas songs?
I'll start:
Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire
Sleigh bells Ring, Are You Listening?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Carry on ...
Have Yourseld a Merry Little Christmas
DeleteSanta Claus Is Comin' to Town
Winter Wonderland
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
DeleteAll I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth
Silver Bells
Frosty the Snowman
Sleigh Ride
What else?
Baby, It's Cold Outside
DeleteHave a Holly Jolly Chrisrmas
DeleteIt's the Most Wonderful
Um, It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
DeleteJungle Bell Rock!
DeleteThe absolute BOTTOM. Pfaugh
The annual potlatch ceremonies being over, one can finally turn one's mind back to more important things... ;)
ReplyDeleteNot yet! This is only the SECOND Day of Christmas. We have TEN MORE to GO. (;-o
DeleteStay Merry. Stay Young,
But try not to get hung
"Over" that is
Not with which you whiz!

They're rising in polls of Republicans. If you read right-wing sites, you know that a huge chunk of the Republican base is currently engulfed in a paroxysm of rage against their own party's leadership. That chunk, the most delusional and deranged subgroup of Wingnuttia, is gradually settling on Trump as the vehicle of their fever-dream fury and rebellion.
ReplyDeleteWill this damn Trump snowball continue rolling down the hill picking up steam?
For a while yet, yes. It may pick up enough steam that Trump wins the Republican nomination. After that -- well, you know what effect That BS will mean.
Your remark has nothing to do with the theme of this post. As such I should remove it, but it was at least free of vulgarity –– for a change.
DeleteAs for Mr. Trump, I have NO IDEA what will happen if he is or is not nominated or elected. You're correct in saying a very large segment of the GOP is disgusted, and completely fed up with the party's Establishment –– and rightly so. The Establishment offers no resistance or meaning opposition to the Democrats. That means they are NOT doing the job for which they were elected.
Some think Mr. Trump may be working in cahoots with HRC. Other's think he's a dangerous demagogue in the making, still others think he's just enjoying gigantic ego trip. Some see him as a "Savior."
Frankly I don't know WHAT to think. American politics gets more like the Twilight Zone every day.
What we have had in recent years is untenable. It would be even worse if elected someone who would give us more of the same. I'm tired of treading water in the toilet hoping against hope I won't be flushed away by the demons and the lunatics who run Dee Cee.
Truth can be found in the most unlikely places, often when one least expects it.
ReplyDeleteKeep your head up, your ears open, and your eyes peeled.
BTW, nothing is ever as straight forward or as simple as it may appear at first glance.
Apparently, you've never met me.
