These individuals, like those of part 1, show us the remarkable capacity of the human spirit and its ability to endure.
ReplyDeleteInspiring, encouraging, motivational.
On an another note, spending the evening being served craft beer by that bar maid while listening to the GREAT B.B. King and listening to stories from the English Channel swimmer would be outstanding!
...but ONLY if they toe the AIPac line!
DeleteHow did this moron sneak in herer?

We don't EXCLUDE anyone categorically, UNLESS they break our rules, or persist in trying to badger or cross examine anyone. Disagreement is all right, but not when it becomes persistent or is intended to be annoying, confusing or merely distracting.
DeleteThe Bouncer is always on hand to toss out -- even our FRIENDS -- should they become unruly.
As Lucianne Goldberg says of her own venerable website, "This is a salon not a saloon" ;-)
Beautiful melodious post, FreeTHinke. Remind me of crabby old man woman neighbors who mad and mean always, shouting about political enemy at the right.
ReplyDeleteThis people you bring happy. I love it.
This world need more Calgon!
BB King still keeps a regular concert schedule. I'd love to see that man play live at least once in my life

DeleteWell I would love to spend a weekend with that channel swimmer. I bet he does a great breast stroke. I don't care how old he is, he's one hot dude.
Ida,
DeleteI spent my whole life dreaming of a man like Otto *sigh*
I'd love to play hide the bratwurst with Otto!
DeleteI saw BB King twice live... Remarkable talent!

DeleteYou saw him twice? WOW! Guess he wasn't hiding his bratwurst then, was he?
I've seen BB play a few times - I even got to shake his hand and talk to him for a few minutes! - in NYC. I still want to jam with him, though!

Jersey: I bet he was a real down to earth guy. You're lucky!
DeleteJust the warmest, smiling-est guy you'd ever meet. Being raised around NYC, I was very, very lucky. I got to meet a lot of interesting people, let alone all those I observed. And I was often surprised. I remember one time, I was riding the subway up town, I get in, sit down, and there across from me is Pierce Brosnan with this model/actress-looking lady. So, we get to a stop, and he and she get up to step off, and she's just towering over him! He's this little guy, and she looks like his Amazonian master compared to him! I don't know why, but that always stuck in my head.

Overall, encouraging and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHowever, daunting if one's physical limitations actually prevent this kind of participation in life.
I understand what you are saying, but aren't you forgetting Mr. Smith -- confined to a nursing home for nearly forty years with severe physical limitations who, nevertheless, has managed to live a rich, full life by keeping his strong faith alive, working always to bring good cheer into the lives of others, and by exercising his creative faculties as an artist making truly fine, magnificently detailed pictures with his typewriter?
DeleteFJ discovered him. You posted on him, and I see I must soon bring Mr. Smith into this series, because he surely belongs here.
FT,
DeleteIf I recall correctly, Mr. Smith was born with cerebral palsy.
Maybe having such a problem since birth helped him to adjust better. I know quite a few with CP, and they have a positive attitude -- although many with CP clearly do not have either the ability or talent to do the kind of thing that Mr. Smith does.
NOW HEAR THIS!
ReplyDeleteI lay claim to being a person like those pictured in the body of this blog post -- never mind that I'm a mere 63 years old.
've been outside shoveling snow from the wheelchair ramp almost all day long. I've got to get the veterinarian in here to try to save our beloved Cameo. She's very ill.
Very sorry to hear abut Cameo. I know what she means to you and to your husband. I pray she recovers easily, and gets well soon.
DeleteYou know I understand how you must feel.
FT,
DeleteI know that you understand. Please pray!
If it weren't for Cameo's being ill, I wouldn't be shoveling like a madwoman. I must give the home-care vet access to our house. If there is any way that the vet can get here, he will do so. I'm worried about his even getting out.
Even the snowplows are sliding everywhere. Just now, one nearly hit a car in front of our house. It's a wonder that he didn't take out our fence and our satellite dish. Close call!
Poor Cameo! She hasn't eaten a bit or drunk a sip of water all day long. She is strong, though, and seems to be holding her own. Mysti, on the other hand, is getting weaker by the day; she's always been puny.
Speaking of bing demented! ya gotta wonder why blacks will believe a half black guy and not a real black man, like Allen West.
ReplyDeleteWere we talking about dementia? I thought the subject was extreme good health and fitness in old age, and the virtues and benefits of maintaining a positive outlook on our potential for fulfillment at any age.
DeleteAs to your question, I think you must realize that the issue never was about "race," but about the way leftists USE "race" as a means of grabbing Power and Control. A black person uninterested in the Left's Power Grabbing Agenda is naturally ignored, dismissed, scorned and rejected by the Left, because THAT black person is inimical to Leftists' primary ambition which has always been to achieve DOMINANCE..
It was Hillary Clinton & Obama who ignored

Even though I feel much the same way, I should delete this post, because it does not even PRETEND to be On Topic.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteSorry, MA, but three off topic posts in a row were too much. I'm trying very hard not to let this site become just another dumping ground for disgruntled Conservatives and irksome Leftists who ritually bedevil them by exercising Critical Theory with sarcasm and tedious Marxian talking points.
DeleteWe can -- and we MUST -- do something more edifying and constructive with our time than getting on that tired old hobby horse and riding it into the ground each day.
I agree , let's not become the same as the band of idiots that we complain about.
