Why Hillary Clinton
Won’t Run for
President
Former Secretary of State H. Rodham Clinton

By Wesley Pruden - - Thursday, January 15, 2015

Hillary can’t win, and that’s why she won’t run. She may not know that yet herself, but a lot of Democrats want her because she’s all they’ve got. The Republicans are counting on her to run because they think she’s the candidate they can beat in what looks from here like it could be a Republican year.
Lady Macbeth has the resume that makes her plausible, which a lot of pundits and normal other people confuse with “inevitable.” Everybody recognizes her name. She doesn’t hear the music but she recognizes the words and knows policy, and likes to talk about it. She’s a woman, and that should help with the ladies. (It might hurt, too).

She has had to carry a lot of Bubba’s baggage, and people usually pity the wronged wife. Nobody is comfortable as the object of pity, but political widows have often exploited it. Political wives, not so much. Hillary has successfully used it, probably because she has thrown the occasional lamp. People like people who fight back.
She has even carried some of Barack Obama’s baggage, and she’ll have to work hard to avoid sharing the blame for the president’s bad choices. The map of the world is speckled with them.
Against every positive, there’s two or three negatives. Everyone has a list. Many women like her, some women worship her. Most men despise her. She reminds them of their ex-wives. Life is not fair. Men, a wise man said, are assumed to be competent until they prove otherwise; that was Mr. Obama’s good fortune in 2008, when nobody looked at him closely. Women are thought to be incompetent until they prove otherwise, as many women in politics and business do every day. Getting credit is not easy.
Successful men and women are born with an instinct for politics, or they never have it. Bubba was born with it, along with the ability to change convictions like changing his pants. The politicians who have it have no shame exploiting it. If they have the ability to wink, smile and say the right thing they can get by with anything short of murder, and maybe that, too. What can you do with a good ol’ boy like Bubba? He only rarely hit a false note. Hillary never hits anything but.
She’s stiff and wooden as a public speaker, as if trying to prove Dr. Johnson’s famous aphorism that a woman preaching is like a dog trying to walk on its hind legs. Hillary is tone-deaf besides. She’s always starting on her “back foot,” as the English say, and she’s a mediocre campaigner, too. Bubba would never have said the family, with millions in the bank, was “dead broke. Not because it was a lie but because everybody in America knew it was a lie. A skilled politician would never have asked, after the Benghazi debacle, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” Whatever gift for politics she has, she got from imitating Bubba. Voters won’t be satisfied with a pale imitation, and nobody listens to two-time losers.
Instinct and ambition — the “fire in the belly” — is a lethal combination, and Hillary has a version only of ambition, but it only occasionally flashes as the hard blue flame that drives winners. Mike McCurry, Bubba’s press secretary, asks the pertinent question about Hillary: At 67, does she really want to spend her golden years working 16 hours a day, eating bad food, sleeping in a strange and uncomfortable bed every night, shaking the hands of strangers in a drafty gym in Iowa, and rubbing elbows with indifferent diners in New Hampshire? She could live the luxurious life at her own pace, delivering the same canned speech written for her, enjoying a new granddaughter, making speeches for $200,000 a pop and watching the millions accumulate at the Clinton Global Foundation.
Running in 2016 won’t be the picnic of 2008, when she had no record to defend (nobody expects so much of a senator). The press, which took a dive in 2008, is loaded this time. She will get sharp questions that she won’t be able to blow off in 2016. She will find out quickly “What difference, at this point, does it make.” There will be no coronation.
Hillary is caught in a trap of her own ambition. The prospect of her as president, which keeps the big money coming from foundations and corporations buying access to a new president, will dry up once she announces, leaving her with only the anger of partisan friends with no candidate. But life for the Clintons has always been about Hillary and Bubba, and good luck to everybody else.

  1. A Democrat won't be winning the White House in 2016. Bernie Sanders will be sucking away all their votes.

John, Abigail and John Quincy Adams must be spinning in their graves like a trio of tops. Likewise Pauk revere.

Why did we ever bother to stage that revolution? Things are far worse now for the average man than they were in the late 1700's. Not materially, perhaps, but spiritually and culturally for sure.

    2. The Obama wing will back Bernie. He holds the Cloak of Gyges over the word "Democrat" destroyed by 8 years of Obama.

If there are any moderates left in the Democrat Party, they'll go for Her Thighness.

I DON'T see the D'Rats as "destroyed" at all. Rather they have been TRANSFORMED. They are now, whether they own up to it or not -- and they won't -- at least not yet -- they are now the American Marxist Party.

Sanders and Pokey are OPEN and AVOWED Marxists. Both have attracted a significant populist following. What they espouse goes far beyond mere Progressivism, itself, a milder form of Marxism, of course.

Thanks to the deliberate FOREIGNIZATION imposed on us in the name of MULICULTURALISM, and the incessant prevarication and misrepresentation of the ENEMEDIA the American Public is so confused, disoriented and removed from their natural heritage they can no longer tell the difference between excrement and chocolate ice cream. 5. Ah yes! Tom Hayden and the SDS (Stupidity Demanding Slavery ;-)

Wasn't he one of Hanoi Jane's multitude of discarded spouses?
I was 21 back then, and saw the future more clearly than I could see my feet. The horrible prospect of Impending Doom has shadowed my entire adult life.

Like the imperiled Pauline, of movie fame I've felt tied to the tracks waiting to be crushed by the steaming locomotive of the Marxist Express.

It hasn't stopped me from having a good time, BUT the Spectre of Mass Destruction followed by the most brutal form of tyranny ever devised has haunted me. I wish with all my heart I hadn't been so perceptive!

The power of prophesying‹but to me
No power so chain'd and coupled with the curse
Of blindness and their unbelief who heard
And heard not, when I spake of famine, plague
      Shrine-shattering earthquake, fire, flood, thunderbolt,
And angers of the Gods for evil done
And expiation lack'd‹no power on Fate
Theirs, or mine own! for when the crowd would roar
For blood, for war, whose issue was their doom,
To cast wise words among the multitude
Was fiinging fruit to lions; nor, in hours
Of civil outbreak, when I knew the twain
Would each waste each, and bring on both the yoke
Of stronger states, was mine the voice to curb
The madness of our cities and their kings.
Who ever turn'd upon his heel to hear
My warning that the tyranny of one
Was prelude to the tyranny of all?
My counsel that the tyranny of all
Led backward to the tyranny of one?
This power hath work'd no good to aught that lives
And these blind hands were useless in their wars.
      O. therefore, that the unfulfill'd desire,
The grief for ever born from griefs to be
The boundless yearning of the prophet's heart‹
Could that stand forth, and like a statue, rear'd
To some great citizen, wim all praise from all
Who past it, saying, "That was he!"
      In vain!

    1. Yes, but the ENEMEDIA have been trying portrayer as "too moderate" for the "liberal wing" of the D'Rat party.

Beides being old, abrasive, perennially unattractive, decidedly stale, unappealing as a speaker and probably too weak physically to withstand the stress of campaigning let alone the presidency, Hillary is the IDEAL neo-Marxist candidate.

IF she runs and WINS, God forbid, the Founders' Vision will be destroyed, and the USA will soon be swept into the dustbin of history.

The Oligarchs, who have exploited ALL factions to their own advantage, will be delighted, for our destruction has been their aim all along.

  3. I agree with and share Pruden's reasoning. It is why one of my 2015 predictions was that Hillary will bow out. She's old, tired, and although still slavering for power, Power, POWER!!! there are no guarantees for her and it will be a brutal campaign with an unsure outcome.

Thus, I too believe she will opt for a life of leisure and $200k speeches while basking in her elder statesman status along with the useless but dangerous likes of Maddie Albright, Hin-Li Kissinger of China, and that former Politburo enforcer Zbigniew Brezhninsky (He just looks like he belongs in either a Gestapo or Soviet torturer uniform).

Those cold eyes of hers, betraying no spark of humanity, and that metallic voice, like nails on a chalkboard... May she go gentle into that good night and bewitch us no more!

    7. Jersey,

I don't understand the left's pathological need to demonize everyone on the right.

I can say I don't like Bernie Sanders' politics, while admitting I think he is one of the most honest people in Congress. I make fun of Elizabeth Shops at Whole Foods Warren, and she is too lefty for me, but she's onto something when she goes after Wall Street.

What is it in the guts of leftwingism that you must hate and vilify everyone who disagrees with you.

Scott Walker is the devil incarnate?

      Dr. Carson is an idiot?

Do you realize how loony such childish outbursts are? This is why no one takes you seriously.

    8. Thersites,

I hate to disagree with you, but Walker is the only one on your list who has even the slightest chance in hell. Jindal, unlike our current White House occupant, is imminently qualified, but he's not tall and big shouldered, he doesn't speak with a command voice, and he low on rock start qualities.

The GOP is full of midgets who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag and who have no idea how to appeal to the masses.

Even Walker has an uphill slog; he's no Mr. Charisma, and the loony lefties hate him for breaking the teachers syndicate stranglehold on Wisconsin and lowering health insurance rates for all the teachers.

  6. Personally, I don't think that Hillary is stupid enough to run again. Because if she does, then every piece of dirt under the Clinton fingernails will be exposed to everyone. The Internet has fundamentally changed since the last time she stuck her toe in the waters.
As I post this there are literally two hundred GOP financed hackers compiling the biggest stack of stinking past criminal/immoral past offenses against the Clintons imaginable. Many of these offenses have never seen the light of day. These are the one's the Clinton's are most afraid of. One blockbuster and all those multi-millions their donors gave to elect 'Hills' will be down the drain.
If Bill gets tied any closer to his pedophile buddy the games over for 'Hills'.
You can bet there are a LOT of wealthy LIB donors who are quietly asking the DNC if there are any scary skeletons is the Clinton's closets.
