Enemetics in Action
Officially this day’s for celebration
Not complaints or tearful lamentation.
It’s tempting to succumb to fretfulness.
Negators can’t enjoy forgetfulness ––
Deny their overeager plaintiveness
Erupting fulsomely with put on saintliness ––
Pouting as though martyred for a Cause, when
Everyone knows they only crave applause. When
Needing to be Noticed takes the Stage,
Disingenuousness will soon take over.
Ego run amok expresses rage ––
Needling challengers’ interest and inventions,
Creating tensions, refusing to engage,
Endowing Honesty with bad intentions.
Doubts about oneself make fields of clover
A potent allergen of which mere mention
Yields fits of pique that might define an Age!

In case anyone's interested, this was written today during lunch at Denny's between bites of a grotesque-looking double cheeseburger. I NEVER go to Denny's if I an help it, but it was the only place open on this holiday, and I was hungry, didn't feel like cooking, and ––– Bob's your uncle.
ReplyDeleteMaking poetry based on acrostic messages is a fun way to pass the time. Some people knit, some paint pictures, some grow orchids, some make up new recipes, some make model ships, some work on antique cars, some work with model railroads, some write verse. What can I tell you?

I wonder if anyone read this, and understood what we were driving at?
ReplyDeleteOblique, allusive commentary is not much in fashion these days.
You may be sure we did have something specific in mind, but well never explain what it was.
Many things are better left unsaid -- directly. };-)>
Cheerio!
