I am grateful to you, Gabriel Fauré, and to the few artists like Barbara Bonney who have the capacity to understand –– and the great skill required –– to share the sublime beauty, the radiance and the universal significance of Divine Intelligence as seen through the unique prism of each great composer's -- and each great author's -- perception and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGoethe said,"Die Musik ist die rein geistigste aller Kuenste" -- in English that is "Music is the most spiritual of all the Arts."
All earnest, sincere and significant Art gives us tiny glimpses of God and reveals in bright flashes of intuition the beauty of Heaven.
"... When old age shall this generation waste,
___ Thou [great Art] shalt remain, in midst of other woe
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,
___ 'Beauty is truth, truth beauty, — that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.’"
~ Keats - Ode on a Grecian Urn
The finest item we have posted here by far, and it hasn't received a single response.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that tell us?
That people prefer to complain, accuse and condemn than to admire, love and enjoy.
As Auntie Mame so famously said, "Life is a banquet, and most poor sons of bitches are starving to death."
Well, it's their own fault, isn't it?
O, foolish Man, why choose strife
_____ when only what you choose to know
__________ has life?
