A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH?

Your thoughts on the subject, please.

But first, see if you can
DEFINE the subject?

  1. HIllary vs. Jeb is a CHOICE?

The hanged man is Uncle Sam sans his American-flag dress suit.

    1. I think the hanging man most probably represents the American Voter who is ready to DIE, because he no longer HAS a choice. Hasn't for decades as a matter of fact, but is just beginning to wake up to the harsh reality of his plight.

    1. Hellary will be far worse for our future than her horndog vulgarian consort ever was.

      He's TRIVIAL. She's EVIL,

  3. America is a kleptocracy run by a criminal class hiding behind a potemkin political system where "Democrats" and "Republicans" perform kabuki theater and they bleed the nation and its people dry.

Hillary and Jebby should be on the same ticket.

    1. That is precisely the implication of today's "photoon," I do believe.

  4. Memories are certainly the substance of the subject. And my "memories" from '80-'08 of Bush-Clinton aren't good.

    1. Surely you meant from '88-'08?

'80 was the beginning of the Reagan Era.

      Not too shabby that.

  8. Hillary and Jebby should be on the same ticket.

They ARE on the same ticket: the one where THE PARTY will abolish Democracy, but allowing the 'voters' to wage 'titanic battles' over same sex marriage and other trivialities. The third dog will get the bone, the one that matters and is made of solid gold.

  9. Well, Gert, once the TPP is signed, we won't need national governments anymore. The corporatists will have all the world's markets "locked-up" in their perpetually secret trade deals..

  10. Inspector:

Then we’ll have Monopolistic Capitalism and no Democracy. All that’s lacking is a system of Terror. Once that's in place, we can call it the North Atlantic Behemoth.

But at least we’ll have iStuffs(TM), just don’t use’m to call anyone!

And we let it all happen...

  11. Perhaps they won't need Terror: Bread and Games worked fairly well for the Roman Emperors.

  12. OTT TPP: ”You can read my notes? Not on your life!”

“They said, well, it’s very transparent. Go down and look at it,” said Boxer on the floor of the Senate. “Let me tell you what you have to do to read this agreement. Follow this: you can only take a few of your staffers who happen to have a security clearance — because, God knows why, this is secure, this is classified. It has nothing to do with defense. It has nothing to do with going after ISIS.”

Boxer, who has served in the House and Senate for 33 years, then described the restrictions under which members of Congress can look at the current TPP text.

“The guard says, ‘you can’t take notes.’ I said, ‘I can’t take notes?’” Boxer recalled. “‘Well, you can take notes, but have to give them back to me, and I’ll put them in a file.’ So I said: ‘Wait a minute. I’m going to take notes and then you’re going to take my notes away from me and then you’re going to have them in a file, and you can read my notes? Not on your life.’”

Orwell couldn’t have made this one up.

  13. It could be worse. General Petraus wasn't allowed to keep notes on the strategies he was developing, either. He did... and they indicted him for it (ps - His girlfriend HAD the requisite "clearances")

    1. IIRW, Petraeus much earlier also mumbled something under his breath about [I'm not quoting verbatim] 'Israel... not strategic to the US anymore... possibly harming our interests in the region...' The AIPac enforcers weren't amused.

Then they get really upset when someone mutters something about 'dual loyalties'. But I digress. Sorry, FT.

  14. It's depressing. It's 1992 all over again. I don't know what else to say, or else to define it. In the end, that's what it is. I suppose you could talk about "dynasties" or what have you, but that's not really true here. Americans just don't pay much attention to their government and so mass associative name recognition, even if vague, in and of itself, is a huge help in reaching higher office, and that's all it is. Dynasty's have to have loyalty and mass respect and neither of these families really have that. And we've had Presidents come from nowhere, but we've also had some already with big names coming in. I'm just glad Hillary will most likely win. I couldn't imagine the damage that would come of another GOP one party state. We still haven't recovered from the last, for Christs sake.

    1. Jersey: It's the 90's in more ways than one. DEMOCRAT Bill Clinton brought us NAFTA that sold American jobs down the river,

Now, 20 years later, Barack Obama, another DEMOCRAT president, is flushing the rest of the American jobs down the toilet.

And some fools still try to claim the Democrats are for the working man...

If the words sound queer and funny to your ear,
A little bit jumbled and jivey,
Sing "Mares eat oats and does eat oats
    And little lambs eat ivy."

Oh mairzy doats and dozy doats
    And liddle lamzy divey
    A kiddley divey too,

That makes as much sense as anything else. The world's goddam friggin nuthouse.
