Paul Robeson?
ReplyDeleteHaven't we read enough about Commies this week?
Hey, where are all the white women at?
ReplyDeletebtw - I love how the liberal latte drinkers have made-over, re-marketed and commodified the negro and turned him into a token collectible for the general American public. Just look at how they sold Barrack Obama to us!
ReplyDelete"They're just like you, Americans. In fact, in most ways (below the belt, wink-wink), they're even better!"
Be hip! Be cool! If at least half of all your closest friends aren't black, then you must be a racist! Cuz the black family living next door are just like the Huxtables! And the only thing holding them back, is your inability to perceive their equality in ALL aspects of life and culture.
ReplyDeleteFor instant success and popularity, BUY into my new multi-cultural lifestyle product. Reap the rewards, almost immediately through our patented "affirmative action" rewards program. Become an authentic multi-cultural American, TODAY!

What's the point of this post?
ReplyDeleteJMJ
The post is not about Paul Robeson, DD, it's about contrasting the American Pop Culture in the 1930's with the verminous PC-CRAP we have to put up with today.
ReplyDeleteThe remarks posted under Kate Smith's charming, wonderfully well sung rendition of Pickaninny Heaven are fascinating in themselves.
The articles relating to Pickaninny Heaven -- especially the bigoted, self-righteous, doctrinaire, vulture-esque editorializing of the New York Times -- are eminently revealing to say the least.
As Shakespeare said, "There's nothing either right or wrong, but thinking makes it so."
Honi soit qui mal y pense.
Obama, "Viperam sub ala nutricas!"
ReplyDeleteIn the 1930's, they were marketing Pickaninny's to us, now they've totally been re-branded and are being sold as a tonic for what ails us.
ReplyDeleteGotta love Madison Avenue. They could sell snowballs to Eskimos!
btw - Have you adopted your Honduran orphan yet? I hear that they "eventually" make GREAT gardiners
ReplyDeleteAmericans LOVE shopping for new lifestyles!
ReplyDeleteIt's an "authentically rewarding" (registered Trademark) experience!
Well, we certainly are provocative today.
ReplyDeleteThe musical merit is more questionable. Hard to see the point.
Maybe a snappy number from The Ethiopian Serenaders?
Which culture should I wear today? So many choices... now, which one goes with my shoes?
ReplyDelete"Colubrum in sinu foves!", eh, duckman?
ReplyDeleteKinda reminds me of the Reagan biopic by the team of Streissand and Brolin.
Hus panic! His panic! His panic!
ReplyDeleteHo sexis can you get?
Isn't time we heard at least a little something about HER panic?
Tia Maria Castadelnevuo
Maybe you should return to your National Democratic Caucus meeting, ducky.
ReplyDeleteSince the days of Kate Smith, it has been absolutely forbidden for white folks to sing songs about blacks. Unless, perhaps, in the case of "We Shall Overcome" and the like.
ReplyDeletePolitical correctness is poison.
Good music is good music -- no matter who sings it. I consider the blues to be good music -- not great music, of course, but still an important genre.
Paul Robeson , is a thorn in American’s history. . And it NOTHING to do with “Darkies”
ReplyDeleteI respectfully suggest that you shouldn’t even mention the two in the same sentence!
And I don’t want any Bleeding Heart explanations about African-Americans who lived in the Jim Crow, the “Slave” era, or the Apartheid era. A Commie is a Commie, is a Commie Period. But in today's leftist political environment, I can see why he is celebrated. But he won’t get any applause from me.
Robeson was a Stalin supported and he was for Stalin's pact with Hitler, and then, like the rest of the Communist world, he even gave a concert for his Soviet friends. So lets call a Spade a Spade! Yes, I used the “Spade” word... So sue me. But I’m not going to give a Free Pass to any Commie just because they might have been a Great Singer.
