Nero "fiddled" while Rome burned

Obama Attends Fundraisers, Cracks Jokes, Mugs for Cameras

  1. Barack Hussein Obama is "tone deaf": 'It looks like it may be a terrible tragedy': Obama goes AWOL again with just 40-second mention of Malaysian plane crash feared to have killed Americans before his jokey 16-minute transport speech.

    WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

Obama's supporters will not even reprimand him for anything he does. No limit to "anything" as far as I can tell.

  2. The meaning of tone deaf in my comment above (I'm sure that I don't have to explain, but I will, anyway):

The main idea of tone deafness is that the noises a person is making may sound perfectly fine to them, but to the listeners it is horrific.

Apply this to politics and you have the worst in a politician: one who does not please the audience and is unaware of the need to change.

This is usually applied to those who pursue the same rhetoric or policies despite the public reacting unfavorably.

I suggest you watch a deconstruction of the fat pig's movie.

Yes, he is a propaganda genius (a hypocritical one who hates paying union wages), but go study how he splices and time-shifts to fool the dimbulbs who believe everything the left puts in front of him.

Moore's manipulation of that wounded soldier was downright sickening.

  4. If they really wanted Campaigner in Chief Obama to visit the border, all the had to do was hold a fundraiser there.

  5. Also, holding up Bush isn't much of an argument.

Many on the left, most of us here included, are fed up with him, and we've all posted comments critical of his actions, although none of us foam at the mouth and fulminate rabidly as many on the left did and still do.

But we recognize he screwed a lot of stuff up, and we say so.

The problem with the unthinking, complacent left, is that they don't just have low standards, but that they hold their political heroes to no standards whatsoever.

  6. *Oh, crap*

Strike my last comment. I just called us all leftists...

  7. Comparing our present sorry excuse for a leader (admittedly we've had many) to Nero may be facile and a bit of a cheap shot, FT, but considering the headlines and his inability even to pretend to take horrific current events seriously it seems remarkably apt.

  8. Shaw Kenawe's penchant for swooping in like some sort of avenging angel with flaming wings and white hot halo to give support to the outrageous, indefensible antics of this miserable excuse for a president with endless versions of "you people did it too" is tiresome. If I were running this place, I wouldn't put up with it. In my opinion FT is much too gracious.

  10. We like Shaw.

That is NOT a universal "we". Her blog suffers none but "token" dissent from her "favoured few", and she has a nasty habit of impersonating bloggers and attributing "nasty" and/or "obscene" comments to them.

  11. No POTUS during my lifetime has been perfect -- and I have said so.

A portion of this of FT's blog posts is about Obama's lack of appropriate reaction to the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 -- not about GWB's many bobbles.

I am not nor have I ever been registered as a Republican.

I loathe blind and intransigent adherence to one political Party. Such adherence makes fools of the adherents.

  12. Shaw,
your outrage meter seems to be stuck on President Obama

And on what is your outrage meter stuck?

Really? I haven't tracked down that matter via my site meter. Perhaps I should ask Warren to work on that matter. He loves tracking trolls.

    Wise words.

Thersites: I understand. You and Shaw go way back, and I did not include you in the 'we.' All I can say is I have never seen her impersonating anyone at my blog.

Some blogs are run as semi-private little clubs, and there's nothing wrong with that, and I am loath to criticize any blog owner's decision to moderate comments. Drooling, leftwing trolls drove me to Disqus, so I cut blog owners a lot of slack when it comes to how they run their little corner of Blogistan.

    1. Nor I at my blog or anywhere else.

Typically, although not always, blog impersonators are found amoung the right.

It almost appears Obama is attempting to self destruct. I find his delayed and rather inept response to most recent events mind boggling.

  16. Why do you think I'm banned from her blog, SF? As you are well aware, I'm a tit-4-tat troll. Treat me decently, you get "reasonable". Treat me otherwise... and you'd best live in "Comment Moderation" mode. I've got*ssholery DOWN!

And thanks for the offer, AoW, but she's only impersonated me at her own blog. It's the only place she can hide, and I'm fine with that.

  17. Ducky, I've enjoyed Elaine Stritch since the nineteen-FIFTIES. I did not know she had died. She was still going strong in her mid-eighties the last I heard. There'a GREAT video of Miss Stritch performing I'm Still Here on YouTube when she was eighty-three. It's now lost among a thousand bookmarks. I shall have to dig it out and post it as a Memorial Tribute. Stritch could only be described as An American Original. Even hough she hailed from Detroit, that bombed out cesspit of a city, her peculiar talents, I think, were best appreciated by New Yorkers.

That aside, I can't imagine what that redoubtable performer -- living OR dead -- would have to do with this particular post.

You are always so filled with interesting, stimulating ideas and suggestions. I wish you'd get a blog of your own, so we could talk about the things that interest and concern YOU -- on yoUR turf.

  18. The focus of today's post is the utter fecklessness, childish egocentrism and gross ineptitude of BarackObama's performance as "The Leader of the Free World."

    Pardon me while I vomit.

  21. The nation has been busily destroying itself for several decades, Les. This is what happens when a deliberately "stupidified" or "ignorantized" population has been systematically brainwashed to reject the faith and accumulated wisdom of their forefathers and to subscribe to the notion -- crafted with specious logic couched in seductive terms that bad is good and vice versa.

  22. It seems the more things change.the more they remain the same. If memory serves many of the issues facing mankind today concerned the ancient Greeks and Romans, as well as others. Certainly with respect to politics, ethics, metaphysics, and etc.

I guess it is human nature, although many, with Jon-Paul Sarte perhaps the most notable, believe there is no such thing as human nature. I tend to disagree, being somewhat of a skeptic.

  23. The Romans and Greek turned their citizens into paupers dependent upon government handouts... bread and circuses. Every Social Democratic State in Europe and the Americas has been transformed into a Welfare State. There is definitely am historical repeating pattern of human behavior at work.

  24. I guess that it was only him who thought that his jokes were funny, because no one else laughed but him
The problem with this incompetent, narcissistic, sociopath is he shows no concern or empathy for lost souls. Does he think that we Americans don’t care if it were only foreigners who died?

This useless shameful, disgusting. America-hating excuse for an American president being needs to go away! We don’t need a Clown in our White House.

  27. Every bit of this from every conceivable angle is disgusting and discouraging, BUT the very worst part is the way the left stoutly rushes to the defense of a PIP (Person In Power) who has proved himself not only unept but callous, supremely egocentric, and apparently out of touch with normal human feelings of empathy and compassion.

I do not understand this inability to see, accept and deal with REALITY. It doesn't make me ANGRY so much as makes me AFRAID -- for the future of our children and grandchildren.
