ReplyDeleteBut I think that the plague of blogblighters has gotten worse since November 8.
We also have a plague of politiblighters -- all along the political spectrum.
Well, Thersites, you -- and every one else -- is perfectly entitled to be WRONG, but around here NO ONE is entitled to be IDIOTIC or just plain nasty.

I know lefty trolls can be downright maddening for you more conservative bloggers. I get that, but, at least in my experience, the conservative trolls are more given to the cut and paste over multiple blogs.
Is that true in your experiences too, or have you seen a lot of cut and paste idiocy from the left too?
Perhaps I have just missed it.

ReplyDeleteFrankly, since I've made more of an effort to bridge the widening chasms that are keeping us from building any sort of consensus, I've been "getting it" from both sides in fairly equal measure.
I can't begin to tell you how many worthless posts I've deleted by now. It's getting to be a full time job -- almost.
I am a great believer in dissent and disagreement, but ONLY when it at least males an attempt to be reasonable and respectful.
I think we have every right to disagree vehemently. Most married folks do -- all FAMILIES do -- at east if they're fully alive, but out of disagreement -- and even occasional acrimony -- a CREATIVE TENSION builds, and as long as those involved are committed to loving each other -- usually a BETTER solution to whatever be sets or bedevils them arises from the rubble -- or the ashes -- whatever metaphor best applies.
The firm commitment to LOVE on another is the key, and because too many have lost their religion -- or completely misunderstand it, as I believe fundamentalists tend to do -- we lose sight of everything but the idea of "winning" at all costs.
PYRRHIC VICTORY is the term that springs to mind.
Anyway, that my "diagnosis," Alas! I no Rx to offer. No quick fix, that's for sure.
I am sure of one thing, however, and that is succumbing to beetle-shelled cynicism spells DEATH.
I may be disgusted and discouraged, but I refuse to give up hope.

The Blogger has ALL the power. The troll can only work the edges. Which is "why" people who ABUSE their positions attract so many of them. :)
