If you can listen past the thump, thump, thumping of the quasi-Jungle beat, and hear past the strained, decidedly uncouth tone and rapid-fire delivery of the brazen vocalization [I could never bring myself to call it “singing”], you –– and I –– could learn a great deal from this bizarre exhibition.
It’s obvious intent, of course, is to mock people like me who care a great deal about expanding awareness and making greater use of our marvelously rich and varied vocabulary while maintaing good grammar and promoting high standards of syntactical elegance and precision. Nevertheless, the information provided , however mockingly, is well worth our time. By all means take it in, and make it your own.

ANTIDOTE
AOW asked for an antidote to yesterday’s graphic evidence of the cultural pollution and degeneracy passing for musical art that has poisoned the minds and perverted the souls of far too many in the past fifty-odd years. Many thousands of pieces from the classical repertoire could have filled the bill, but Rosina Lhevinne, who may be best known as the teacher of Van Cliburn, performing Mozart in celebration of her eightieth birthday stood out as especially inspirational. Try not to think. Please don't plan counter arguments. Just LISTEN.
Madame Lhevinne celebrated her 80th birthday in March,1960. To commemorate the occasion Mrs. Lhevinne was invited to perform the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21 K467 with the Juilliard Orchestra conducted by Jean Morel. In this performance we hear a brilliant interpretation of the third movement from this concerto.
Her playing is as young, fresh, crisp, clean, bright and brilliant as as a child prodigy just beginning a legendary career. How did she do it at age EIGHTY? More importantly, why did she not share her tremendous ability by giving concerts and recording all those decades when she was absent from the concert stage?
Yesterday, we subjected ourselves to deadly disease. Today, thanks to the miracle that is Mozart, we restore ourselves to health, hope, vitality,
and good cheer.

A MOTHER'S PLEA

Dear Fellow Citizen,
I want you to imagine something terrifying...
... you're decorated, combat wounded, veteran of two tours in Afghanistan;
... you're admitted to a Veterans Hospital for treatment;
... and you're being held against your will and then abused in a horrible Mexican jail.
This isn't a joke –– my son Andrew, 25 years of age –– is a current inactive Reservist Marine Corps Meritoriously Promoted Sergeant who served with honor in two tours.
After being honorably discharged active duty from the Marine Corps, Andrew went to San Diego in March to receive treatment for PTSD. While driving in Southern California, he unknowingly took a wrong turn and wound up at a Mexican Customs Checkpoint.
He was denied the right to turn back and was arrested for carrying firearms into Mexico that are legally registered in the United States. In desperation, he even called 9-11 for help. Now, he is in jail in Mexico (he's been moved to three different jails), has been denied bail, and is being represented by the third attorney ordered.
We have appealed to the State Department... but John Kerry "raised the issue". We have filed a petition with the White House ... but President Obama has ignored our pleas.
Andrew is not an "issue". He is a gravely serious, URGENT CONCERN.
I have been honored to be a featured guest on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren, and other cable news networks that have covered Andrew's case. I hope that you're seen or heard something in the news about my son on the news.
Everyone agrees — Andrew shouldn't be in jail, yet all of his life savings will be spent on his defense of an unintentional entry. This horrific experience has broken Andrew physically, emotionally and financially. So today, I'm at my last resort. As a mother, I'm asking for your immediate help.

Visions Become Reality
The parched ground shall become a pool . . .
We always have a vision of something before it actually becomes real to us. When we realize that the vision is real, but is not yet real in us, Satan comes to us with his temptations, and we are inclined to say that there is no point in even trying to continue. Instead of the vision becoming real to us, we have entered into a valley of humiliation.
Life is not as idle ore,
But iron dug from central gloom,
And battered by the shocks of doom
To shape and use.

God gives us a vision, and then He takes us down to the valley to batter us into the shape of that vision. It is in the valley that so many of us give up and faint. Every God-given vision will become real if we will only have patience. Just think of the enormous amount of free time God has! He is never in a hurry. Yet we are always in such a frantic hurry. While still in the light of the glory of the vision, we go right out to do things, but the vision is not yet real in us. God has to take us into the valley and put us through fires and floods to batter us into shape, until we get to the point where He can trust us with the reality of the vision. Ever since God gave us the vision, He has been at work. He is getting us into the shape of the goal He has for us, and yet over and over again we try to escape from the Sculptor’s hand in an effort to batter ourselves into the shape of our own goal.
The vision that God gives is not some unattainable castle in the sky, but a vision of what God wants you to be down here. Allow the Potter to put you on His wheel and whirl you around as He desires. Then as surely as God is God, and you are you, you will turn out as an exact likeness of the vision. But don’t lose heart in the process. If you have ever had a vision from God, you may try as you will to be satisfied on a lower level, but God will never allow it.

On This July 4th, 2014, please don’t "thank a liberal"for our splendid heritage. Marxian-Fabian-Socialist-Liberal-Progressive-Statists today often boast that the likes of Jefferson, Washington, Hamilton, Adams, Franklin, and many other founding fathers were "liberals", and as such ought to be given credit for the achievements of the Founding Fathers, who risked everything and suffered incalculable loss and hardship in their quest to establish a government that stood for individual liberty.
This, of course, is not true, because the meaning of the term “liberal” has changed drastically since it was craftily adopted by the Progressives to neutralize their growing fear of opposition to the quasi-Marxian, collectivist initiatives that characterized political activism -- in both parties -- early in the twentieth century. Given the nature of our Founding Documents it’s dubious that the Founders, who were never unified in their views in any case, would have supported the social and economic agendas promoted by the Left for the past hundred years.
1. Would our Founding Fathers have supported a bloated, reckless, out-of-control federal government?
2. Would they have supported aborting millions of unborn babies under the guise of "privacy" and "reproductive rights"?
3. Would they have supported marriage between two men and marriage between two women?
4. Would they have supported the influx of millions of illegal aliens streaming across our borders unchecked?
5. Would they have supported providing millions of illegal aliens with federal and state-funded education, food, housing, and medical care?
6. Would they have supported deficit spending, crushing national debt, and the fiat currency system?
7. Would they have supported the creation of the Federal Reserve System and the resulting manipulation of our money supply and our country's economic health by the Federal Reserve Board?
8. Would they have supported the executive branch bypassing the legislative and judicial branches and unilaterally making laws via Executive Orders?
9. Would they have supported our participation in military actions in foreign countries that did not pose direct threats to the United States?
10. Would they have supported the breakdown of the family unit through divorce or illegitimacy or abuse or irresponsibility?
11. Would they have supported the erosion of state's rights via the judiciary?
12. Would they have supported the erosion of religious freedoms?
13. Would they have supported a gridlocked legislative branch and an extremely partisan and subjective judicial branch?
14. Would they have supported the widespread voter fraud that has affected countless local, state, and federal elections?
15. Would they have supported negotiating with terrorist organizations for the release of American hostages?
