We already have the government providing an annual income only we mask it by calling it entitlements. If welfare, medicaid, food stamps, rent subsidies, free cell phones is not considered an annual income then it needs to be.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how much the government gives away to the "disenfranchised" the percent of poor in this country doesn't change and hasn't since LBJ's great society.
If you don't earn it you have no ownership and therefore it has no meaning. If Zuckernuts wants to give away his fortune he can send some my way.

Thank you, Skud, for addressng the topic. So few do it's frankly MADDENING. I winder moremand more why I bother to blog at all, since I refuse to function as a Community Bulletin Board or a CITY DUMP.
DeleteThe idea, of course, would be to provide EVERYONE with an EQUAL "LIVING WAGE" but only with the undersadung that ALL those "entitlements" and "scial programs" GO AWAY.
Since the majority are as unntelligent as the proverbial box of rocks, it might actually prove to be cheaper to PAY them to STAY HOME in government housing, but then LET THEM FEND for THEMSELVES after giving them that much.
The REST of us could then use our talents and ambition to the best of OUR ability without further interence from Uncle Sam.
Yes it would prodce a Two-Tiered society, but so what? Those who choose to live on a subsistence income provided by the government would have to live within the limitations that condition imposed on them, UNLESS they became ambitious enough to try to accomplish more, but the "FLOOR" would never be taken out from under them.
If we cut all the red tape, played it straight and stuck by the rules we made, –– and allowed for NO "DISSENT," –– things might calm down, and those of us who wanted to work, and develop our talents could do so at their own pace without restriction.
Just think of the acres and acres of costly, burdensome, wasteful, inefficent, maddeningly indifferent, inhumane BUREAUCRACY such a move might eliminate.

I'm so old I remember when Carousel was a brand new hit on Broadway. I've always loved the show –– most agree it's probably the best thing Rodgers and Hammerstein ever did. ]]It was partally staged n a Live from Lincoln; Center presentation three or four years ago, and was probably the best version ever performed, because the SINGING was as great as the singers were GOOD-LOOKING, and they could ACT as well –– a rare combination in musical comedy.
At any rate,Carousel ––– like all really good works of art ––– only gets better with age.

ReplyDeleteIt was indeed a pleasure listening to President Trump speak about pulling out of the Paris Accord yesterday. I thing that he did an excellent job explaining WHY he’s taken America out of the Paris Accord. Of course, the Liberal gang, and the Sad sacks over at CNN are dwelling on the fact that “America is now in alliance with Nicaragua and Syria.” Yeah right! , I’m sure Trump pulled out so he could make nice with Nicaragua and Syria, right? Like thats going to happen!
I particularly liked the part when he invited Democrats to put a better deal together and until then, I feel there should be no deal.
And the Big Shots over in Europe were so quick to say “ NO NEGOTIATIONS” !
Well OK, the, so then there’s NO Deal. Lets see who’s going to step up and pay the share that we were paying?
It’s about time that we had a President with some guts and who wants to level the playing field. We have been suckers long enough. Lets hope that Trump can maintain his incredible stamina as he continues to honor his campaign promises and with “draining the swamp”.
And John Kerry’s said “he’s made us an ecological PARRIAH in the world……….the worst in our LIFETIME!”
Did they say that when John Kerry and Barack Obama STABBED Isreal in their back at the UN? Did they say that about India or China? JUST SUCK IT UP Kerry, you are IRRELEVANT now!
