WHY I SUPPORT DONALD J. TRUMP
I have taken considerable trouble to LISTEN to MOST of Mr.Trump's extended remarks thanks largely to C-Span. The picture one gets of Mr. Trump when he is freed from biased, agenda-driven "editing" and the tendentiously selected “sound bites” produced by the enemedia is very different from the grotesque caricature the media has perpetually made of him.
If you had stayed up, as I did, to witness Election Evening's historic event in its entirety, you would have had the chance to hear Mr. Trump's acceptance speech, which came close to 3:00 AM. He was extraordinarily gracious, generous, quiet-spoken, and kind to point of magnanimity.
What impresses me most about the way Mr. Trump has generally addressed his audience during this campaign is the way he never fails to include his hearers with talk of “US” and "WE working together for OUR country." He doesn’t CONDESCEND to the millions upon millions of people who have flocked to his rallies all over the country.
A stark contrast to Mr. Obama's dour, humorless, perpetually lecturing –– or downright rabble-rousing –– tone, and incessant use of the first person pronoun "I" in nearly every sentence of every public statement he's ever made. And then we’ve had Mrs. Clinton's Academy Award Winning evocation of a shrewish Mother-in-Law from Hell scolding everyone in sight on general principles –– OR –– Nurse Ratched coldly and cruelly presiding over a Pscyho Ward filled with dangerous lunatics.
In contrast Mr. Trump never fails to acknowledge and give thanks to those who have helped him along the way. He does this amiably with considerable warmth and even affection. Unlike Mrs. Clinton's harsh, toneless, abrasive, uncultivated, unmodified Midwestern twang, Mr. Trump's tone, –– despite his limited vocabulary, inelegant phraseology, and painfully obvious NOO YAWK upbringing ––, is gracious, gentle and genuinely appreciative when speaking to or about those who have aided and applauded him during the arduous process of campaigning.
Of course, I may well be wrong in my enthusiastic appraisal of Mr. Trump's performance, but I have watched him closely for at least six months, and have seen him evolve and grow tremendously along the way.
If you received your impression of Mr. Trump only from sound bites and video clips heavily edited to present him in the most unflattering light possible, it's unlikely you've really seen him at all.
In answer to those who perpetually accuse him along with Mrs. Clinton of being “the two most unpopular candidates we’ve ever run,” and then insisting he “knows nothing,” and has been “incapable of addressing specifics” I have listened to him in depth, and found him to be far more astute, far better attuned to reality, and far more aware of the acute dangers we face than anyone I could name, since Richard Nixon, who, –– unlike the maladroit Mrs. Clinton ––, really was “the best-prepared politician ever to run for the office of the president.”
Like most I regarded Mr.Trump as a vain, bombastic boor at first, but I have since come to realize that there could be no reason for him to have put himself through the grueling, viciously insulting process he's endured for fifteen months other than a genuine desire to help rescue our country from the steep downward spiral on which the Leftists, the RINO’s, and the International Elitists have so callously –– and so stupidly –– put us.
I believe Mr. Trump when he says he loves this country, is grateful to her, and feels a moral obligation to “give back.”
In contrast I've never been able to believe a SINGLE THING Mrs. Clinton has said in public. She continually radiates excessive pride, conceit, arrogance, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, blatant hypocrisy, and a cold, –– almost reptilian ––, detachment in the way she habitually treats and regards others. Not only have I found her unappealing to the point of repugnance; I also find her frightening. She is a person I'd make every effort to avoid meeting if ever I had the misfortune to find myself sharing the same street with her.
With that in mind naturally I rejoice at her resounding, humiliating defeat, and the near-certainty that neither she nor her lecherous, ill-bred consort in corruption are ever likely to sully our political process again. I’m content to let them keep their ill-gotten gains, as long as they withdraw into Obscurity, and suffer a similar fate to that endured by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Selective hearing based solely on YOUR biases and prejudices.
ReplyDeleteBut you did acknowledge you could be wrong. which implies a willingness to change your mind should Mr. Trump disappoint you with his performance.
Look, Trump deserves the chance to prove his mettle, so to speak. He was elected according to the rules of the game and unimpressed America should cut him a little slack. It is possible he will grow into the job and actually surprise those Americans who are highly skeptical of his qualifications and temperament for the job.
Given some of his cabinet and advisor choices it is hard to be
hopeful, nevertheless, the man deserves a chance.
We must however keep our eyes and ears open to reality.
Please tell me something. The tone of your remark seems to indicate that you believe yourself free of bias and possessed of superior wisdom.
DeleteIs that true, or have I misread you?
At any rate, we wish you MERRY CHRISTMAS regardless.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS, Joan! I hope you enjoy it. The timer derogation is past –– at least for the nonce.
Exceedingly well-stated, my friend.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump has confounded the haters at every turn. As W would say, they continually misunderestimate him.
Worse, millions of bitter leftists and dyspeptic crabs are positively hoping for a big crashing failure so they can all shout, "See, I told you so!" They are a poisonous corrosive and sane people should simply ignore them.
Why? He is a conundrum. A crass blowhard who brags of his many achievements, he also does not tell all he knows. If you listen to him speak, like in an interview, even going back to talking with Oprah in the 90's, he has a deep understanding of economics and global trade. How could he not? He's a hands-on businessman.
The perpetual diaper rash ranters will continue to squawl, and the haters will point out every misstep, but President Trump will get things done. More importantly, his policies will foster an environment where millions of Americans with millions of ideas can get things done. That is how a free market works.
Thank you, Silver, and MAY the VERY BEST in CHRISTMAS CHEER come to you and and last throughout a GLAD NEW YEAR!

So very, very refreshing.
Trump may indeed be a narcissist. Many very wealthy individuals are. But Trump seems to be a narcissist who can empathize -- and, if so, that gives him the potential to be a great political leaders.
AOW, I hate to be the one to tell you, but virtually ALL true Artists, Writers, Philosophers, Architects, Innovators in Science and Engineering, and those who emerge as natural LEADERS, –– whether they be good or evil ––, qualify as "narcissists."
DeleteThe term seems always too be used in a negative connotation, but in truth what-most-regard-as Vanity or Immodesty can be a great motivating force to rise above the Crowd and distinguish oneself.
Like Fire, Gunpowder, Talent and Intelligence, itself, what we call "narcissism" is entirely a NEUTRAL force. How the individual chooses to USE it determines its value.
Well stated insight into Mr. Trump, and I agree completely with your assessment!
ReplyDeleteIf the stock market reflects anything, and I think it does, this President-elect has become exactly what the doctor ordered. Recall before the election results became clear, there was excessively negative fears that the only way to avoid a stock market calamity and crash was to elect the other unpopular candidate Hillary Clinton.
Well, the worst possible scenario unfolded in the early morning of November 9, 2016 ...Donald Trump was elected President of the United Sates of America.
And with a resounding majority of the country understanding his message that something clearly was rotten in the state itself. And agreed that Mr. Trump deserved a chance to right the sinking ship.
Thanks, Waylon.

ReplyDeleteBravo, Good Job.
Thank you, DD. And the BEST of the SEASON to YOU!
DeleteFrankly, I'd be embarrassed to be a liberal right now, Democrats, Progressives and Regressive Leftists as well.
ReplyDeleteLiberals have been successfully manipulated by their "independent" Media and repeat after it like parrots without thinking.
I'd be embarrassed for pushing an agenda that encourages use of government force to commit theft from people who make more money, to distribute the stolen goods to people who make less, is a fundamental violation of American rights.
I doubt libs will feel embarrassed. Only if the Media somehow becomes really independent and starts delivering the truth for change. But even if that happens, it will take a certain time to fix their severe brain damage. They should be ashamed to show their faces after allowing Madam Hitlary to be their nominee. They still have signs in their yards in some places as some idiotic act of ignorant defiance.
It's sad..
I think most of us are well aware of the things we don't like, don't trust, and can't admire, etc. but I wonder –– from the pervasively negative tone of far too many comments we receive if we haven't forgotten how to enumerate and describe whatever it might be that ENLIGHTENS, ENCOURAGES, DELIGHTS, EMBOLDENS, and causes WONDER, and deep ADMIRATION.
DeleteFT, I came across this item discussing a topic that maybe not directly relevant to this particular topic but since the topic is "fake news" and tis has become an overblown issue recently consider taking a look at it and toss it overboard if you wish:
ReplyDelete"The drama surrounding allegations that the internet is awash with “fake news” is being promoted by the so-called mainstream media which certainly has a lot to answer for when it comes to producing material that does not pass the smell test. Does the name Judith Miller ring any bells? And the squeaks of rage coming from the U.S. Congress over being lied to is also something to behold as the federal government has been acting in collusion with the media to dish up falsehoods designed to start wars since the time of the Spanish-American conflict in 1898, if not before.
The fake news saga is intended to discredit Donald Trump, whom the media hates mostly because they failed to understand either him or the Americans who voted for him in the recent election. You have to blame somebody when you are wrong so you invent “fake news” as the game changer that explains your failure to comprehend simple truths. To accomplish that, the clearly observable evidence that the media was piling on Donald Trump at every opportunity has somehow been deliberately morphed into a narrative that it is Trump who was attacking the media, suggesting that it was all self-defense on the part of the Rachel Maddows of this world, but anyone who viewed even a small portion of the farrago surely will have noted that it was the Republican candidate who was continuously coming under attack from both the right and left of the political-media spectrum."
Now, the same article, written by a former American diplomat and CIA employee, carries further to discuss another equally ominous political manipulation: the issue of Israel and its influence on Washington politics.
Delete" The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act is intended to give the Department of Education investigatory authority over “anti-Jewish incidents” on America’s college campuses. Such “incidents” are not limited to religious bigotry, with the examples cited in the bill’s text including criticism of Israel and claiming that the holocaust was “exaggerated.” It is a thinly disguised assault on the Boycott Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement, which is non-violent, does not criticize Jews as a religion or ethnicity, and is actually supported by many Jewish American who are concerned about Israel’s apartheid regime.
The Anti-Semitism bill makes Jews and Jewish interests a legally protected class, immune from any criticism. “Free speech” means in practice that you can burn an American flag, sell pornography, attack Christianity in the vilest terms or castigate the government in Washington all you want but criticizing Israel is off limits if you want to avoid falling into the clutches of the legal system. The Act is a major step forward in effectively making any expressed opposition to Israeli actions a hate crime and is similar to punitive legislation that has been enacted in twenty-two states as well as in Canada. It is strongly supported by the Israel Lobby, which quite likely drafted it, and is seeking to use legal challenges to delegitimize and eliminate any opposition to the policies of the state of Israel.
As the Act is clearly intended to restrict First Amendment rights if they are perceived as impacting on broadly defined Jewish sensitivities, it should be opposed on that basis alone, but it is very popular in Congress, which is de facto owned by the Israel Lobby. That the legislation is not being condemned or even discussed in the generally liberal media tells you everything you need to know about the amazing power of one particular unelected and unaccountable lobby in the U.S."
This writer Phillip Giraldi has spoken openly and honestly about a serious problem, I don't suppose he expects to be applying for a spot in Washington politics any time soon. A price to be paid by only the brave.
There is no doubt in my ind, Waylon, that the widespread use of the term "anti-Semitism" as a weapon to stifle debate and shame any who'd to dare question the motives and character of ANY Jew under ANY circumstances is in fact the ROOT CAUSE of the regrettable modern phenomenon we call "Political Correctness."

That's what like sociopaths like Leo Decaprio do.
And I guess that next week, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are meeting with Trump to ask him to reconsider building the wall..
If all else fails, they’ll send in James Taylor to sing, You’ve Got A Friend!

Jersey! Don't you see that Mr. Obama was idolized and had all manner of quasi-supernatural powers attributed to him by those who put him in office? He was lionized, idolized and IDEALIZED too by the ENEMEDIA and his enormous number of fans as soon as he was chosen to run for office. His virtues were greatly magnified and highest exaggerated. His faults were not even discussed. He was hailed as a virtual MESSIAH.
DeleteHe was even awarded a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE before he'd had a chance to DO a thing as president.
To be fair to our still-president NO ONE could POSSIBLY love up to the SENSATIONALIZED view his supporters our forth.
At any rate, I am sure that is what "juan" must have meant. Frankly I'm surprised you didn't see it for yourself.
Truth is impartial and never flatters anyone of any political persuasion.
The Nobel Prize thing was funny, even he jokes about that regularly. It was, however, his outspoken opposition to very dumb and evil war that won him that prize, let's not forget.
DeleteJust the same, Obama is plainly who he is and either you like him or not. Trump seems to be whatever his supporters want him to be. He says different things to different people, he makes different decisions than those he says he'll make, and changes his mind about ostensibly serious and steadfast positions on a dime.
So, no. Nice try but no stuffed animal for you. ;)
JMJ
I don't see it that way, Jersey, but even if it were true, how does that make him any different from the candidates you seem to like so much better? Aren't all politicians basically deceptive by their very nature?
DeleteIt is absolutely SUICIDAL for a politician to tell the plain, unvarnished truth. "The People" just don't want to hear it, and that's all there is to it.
In order to be effective in implementing ANY 'agenda," the very first thing a candidate must do is SUCCEED in getting himself ELECTED.
It's elementary, Watson. EL-E-MEN-TA-RY! ;-)
You'd get a lot better, and more responses if you'd ask, WHY I DONT LIKE BARRACK OBAMA!
ReplyDeleteIt’s interesting that Obama would suggest criticizing our President-elect…because we all remember what Obama’s IRS did to Tea Party group’s who dared to criticize him and the rest of our Democrat led, out-of-control government during his first term.

Next time you come please try to tell us at least ONE thing that makes you feel glad to be alive.
For those seeing Trump's ongoing, astonishing, casual carelessnesses and obscene appointments to cabinet positions, I suggest a clear, unifying principle transcending even the policy content: the subtext here is Trumpian malignant narcissism and aggrandizement of power, and a highly dangerous personalization of the presidency. I think that a rubric under which the majority of his acts during transition fit all too comfortably. I think that distinguishes Trump from even the worst of past presidents.

The Democrat Party's collapse began when the party thought they would make history by electing the First female to the office of the Presidency!. But little did they know that Hillary Clinton actually became the first politician to lose the Presidency to a non politician! Trump not being a politician Hillary Clinton was to again declare her desire to be crowned the first female President of the United States that had been on-hold for eight years. After all, it is time for a female president, right, and who is more deserving than she? With the exception of Bernie Sanders’ strong challenge to her anticipated coronation, the signs of collapse were obscured to Democrats and liberals by their overwhelming desire for a female president.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is funny that a supposed "polished" politician was thumped by a man who had never been in politics. And she DID MAKE HISTORY, she was the first colostomy bag in a pantsuit to run for president!.
But on the campaign trail Clinton insulted Trump supporters, saying, “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables,” and generally ran a poor campaign. Her strategy was largely to slam Trump for nearly everything he did and said. She is not particularly likeable, and her list of scandals and bad judgment did not help her lagging popularity. That the jig was up became obvious early Wednesday morning, and Clinton was reportedly so disconsolate that she did not even concede the election until hours later. The pain lingers for Clinton and her supporters to this day. I wonder how it feels to be TOAST?

There is nothing racist about President-Elect Trump's ban proposal on Muslims, there is actually a provision in US law to address such an issue...if a group of people poses a threat to the American people, the president has the power to act in defense of the American people.
ReplyDeleteThus, please stop being [walked about like a dog] by our lying media propaganda machine and start doing your own research. In the age of knowledge at your fingertips, there is no excuse for not knowing the actual facts... Or being led astray like mindless Koolaide drinking zombies!
IN FACT, President Elect Trump is 100 percent correct in his position, it's indeed the law of the United States of America people! US Presidents has the legal authority to keep out anyone based on [ 8 U.S. Code § 1182 - Inadmissible aliens ]. The President of the United States has the power to keep non-American Muslims out of the country. Facts are facts and the law is the law, and thus, must be enforced by our Commander-In-Chief!
Ah, Jill Stein, what would we do without you?
ReplyDeleteJill Stein's “Recount 2016” campaign started off well for her. It raised over $10 million from aggrieved liberals and socialists who thought that the election was rigged….. for Trump (yeah, right). Considering it’s liberals who benefit disproportionately from voter fraud (after all, the dead are one demographic known to exclusively vote Democrat), we shouldn’t be surprised to see Trump actually benefit from the recount.
Well, he did.
The Green Party-led presidential election recount in Wisconsin has turned up a surprising result: Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton, was short-changed on November 8.
Trump prevailed in the Badger State by 22,871 votes. The ongoing recount has widened his margin by 146 so far.
Just 23 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties have completed their second go-round, but the president-elect has gained 105 votes. Clinton has lost 41.
"At this point what difference does it make?"
Delete};^)>
A bit like trying to make an issue out of "What weighs more a pound of iron or a pound of feathers?"
Is it even with discussing?
After reading some of those obnoxious, and offensive, comments with those distasteful photo-shopped pictures that some of these Liberals are posting and are freaking out about Trump nominating his 3rd Military Member to his Cabinet...one progressive on this board actually declared Trump to be forming what these MORONS are calling a 'Military Junta'.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask that individual, "WHY DIDN'T YOU ACCUSE BARAK OBAMA OF THE SAME THING WHEN HE DID THE SAME THING?"
Obama’s initial team included, as pointed out by the Washington Examiner’s Jamie McIntyre on Wednesday: retired Marine Gen. Jim Jones as national security adviser; retired Army Gen. Eric Shinseki as veterans affairs secretary; and retired Navy Adm. Dennis Blair as director of national intelligence."
So instead of having these rabidly partisan, wildly hypocritical knee-jerk reactions about everything Trump does and says, acting like it's the 1st time we have ever seen anyone do anything like 'this', can we stop, take a breath, do some research, and chill, and perhaps doing a bit of Fact Checking before you go to your poison ridden Computer’s keyboard! And due a little research before posting! But as we all know, asking a lib to fact check or not have knee jerk reactions is like asking a fish to breathe out of water. All you'll get is a lot if flip flopping around.
And besides that, what the hell is wrong with appointed a ex-military well qualified man to get advise from? Are ex-Generals so bad? I think NOT!

The “mastermind” Kahlid sheik Mohammed (Rosie O’donnell’s doppleganger) told us this. he said that they never would have tried 9-11-2001 but because America (Clinton and the democrats) ignored them they figure why not go for it. Bill Clinton and the democrats are solely responsible for 9-11-2001 and now are responsible for the resulting chaos in the middle east that is placing massive numbers of terrorists in countries including ours where they never should be
the have imported millions of either moslem terrorist or those who will breed out our culture. Granted this has been going on by both administrations.
have empowered an agency – the EPA which has somehow become more powerful than government itself
rammed Pbamacare down our throats without a singe republican vote - without reading the friggin thing (Pelosi - we have to pass it to find out what's in it) that takes over 1/6 of the economy, makes us all pay a lot more for health ins and get a lot less health services
have lied so much it is difficult to define using any language. 10 years of lies by Obama. Bald faced lies by this incompetent POS ass and the entire democrat party. Remember Biden telling the blacks the republicans would put them back in chains? Dingy Hairy Reid telling us Romney doesn’t pay his taxes? Add a million more. You know I could add much to this.
- and I’m supposed to give a crap that Trump doesn’t have sometimes or uses twitter, or slams the press who need to be Slammed...
Divided States of America??
ReplyDeleteWell then, let's split up as soon as possible over irreconcilable differences. The libtards can go North, and we conservatives will inhabit the South. I know what you're thinkin.. Well, we'll just cut off free money for able-bodied individuals, and declare getting pregnant with no visible source of income as child abuse punishable by being deported to the libtard states of America.
That's more TIME's idea than anyone else's Kid. They're part of the ENEMEDIA, and therefore, they hate to see anything good getting accomplished. The ENEMEDIA –– like all the Left –– thrives on FAILURE and the MISERY it brings. That's where they get their POWER.
DeleteKid, Time got it wrong. It's not The Divided States. It's The Divided Demographic. People who live in denser populations of people tend to be more liberal because they see more of life every day and understand more clearly how we are all interconnected. People who live in less dense populations see and know less and do not understand how we are all connected. They are more conservative. That is the Divide. Among the ruling class, it's a handy weakness.

FT, They must thrive on failure. It is all they have in their wheelhouse. What else could we possibly conclude.
DeleteWhat failure?

JERSEY, I wrote this to you at Lisa's Blog a little while ago during an exchange about the fate f Obamacare, and your medical predicament. It also provides at least a partial answer to the question you just asked Kid:
DeleteJersey, I thought you owned your own business. If that's true, isn't there anyone who could help you run it while you go through this ordeal?
You know I have nothing but sympathy for you in your current plight, and wish I had the power to help you, buddy, but as a gainfully-employed person, didn't you have medical insurance BEFORE Obamacare kicked in just five years ago?
And haven't you any Savings and Investments you could dip into to help pay the day-to-day expenses?
Also, since "Disability" is part of the system of goverment-run Benevolence and Protection you have always favored, can't you see from the way you are being treated right now, that this wonderful socialistic institution is NOT serving you well?
I have a very good friend ,also in Florida, who's been fighting what-was-first-diagnosed-as TERMINAL CANCER for the past ELEVEN years. His wife of sixteen years LEFT him and TOOK THEIR FOUR CHILDREN immediately after diagnosis. SHE didn't want to face it, so she DIVORCED him. What a girl! Obviously she never loved him, or never knew what "love" really means.
At any rate, he was well-insured, BUT having spent a million dollars trying to stay alive he exceeded his Lifetime Benefits Cap, and was dropped like a hot potato. That was five years ago.
He was able to get on Medicaid right away, which provided painfully limited coverage –– Medicaid does NOT give care EQUAL to that paid for by PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE, PERIOD! He had been turned down THREE TIMES for "DISABILITY" over the years. Finally he just gave up trying, poor guy.
He too is an ardent Liberal Democrat, and he too can't recognize the abysmal; FAILURE of the SYSTEM he's advocated all his adult life.
A braver person I could never hope to know, and a real SURVIVOR, if ever there was one.
Obamacare HAS enabled him to get his insurance reinstated, and he IS getting better care than he received from Medicaid by far, –– but if it hadn't been for the generous PRIVATE assistance provided by a wealthy friend who gas made considerable sacrifices to help, I hate to think where this guy might be today. He, himself freely ADMITS he'd either be living n the street or dead –– probably the latter.
So much for the virtue and value of Public Assistance!
By the way in case you had any doubt, I believe that public funds SHOULD be made available to American citizens who find themselves in your present position. I greatly favor UNIVERSAL CATASTROPHIC MEDICAL INSURANCE for EVERYONE in NEED. However, hangnails, colds, flu, cuts and abrasions, etc. should NOT be covered.
I ALSO think, however, that those who CAN pay SHOULD pay, and that the cost of care should be provided on a SLIDING SCALE.
None of that helps you much in your present predicament, I'm afraid, Jersey, but Mr. Trump has SAID that REPEAL of the ACA must be accompanied by a much-improved REPLACEMENT.
Meanwhile, keep your chin up. You still have insurance, right? I don't believe it will be taken away, but I will continue to pray for your well-being. I believe that really helps, though precisely how it works, I can't say. I just DO it, and things seem to fall into place as a result.
GOD BLESS YOU, Jersey, and please don't let yourself give way to fear. For what it may be worth, I care about you –– and so do a great many others no doubt. You are that rarity of rarities –– a Lovable Leftist. ;-)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
FT, I don't know why you think I own a business. I worked in the corporate world in my late-20's through my 30's, and in my twenties I did some work in the automotive industry. I was also a musician and didn't "work" for some years at all. I managed a restaurant until recently.
DeleteSince you're curious... When I met my wife, I was 27 and she was 22, I was living and working in a music studio, converting swing music to CDs and doing new stuff and so forth, making art, pretty much just enjoying life. Well, you know how it goes, we fell in love, and she hadn't been to much college but she was very smart, I already had a decent education, so I told her go to college and I eventually landed in the container line industry where I was able to build a pretty good career. So, she graduates, history teacher, first in her class, Jesuit school, and the poor little old Catholic high school in Jersey City, where she trained, was where she really wanted to work, granted for much less money than she would've made in the public schools, but I wanted her to be happy, so that's what she did. So that was our life in NJ. Nice apt, middle class, IRA, 401K, etc, etc. We just hadn't bought a house yet. We were not sure where we were going to live. NJ was too expensive. We we wary of a bubble even then. My company was moving, her school was closing, so we were up in the air.
Anyways... her grandmother had fallen into a bad situation. She was mentally ill, very old (92 or so at the time), and the state was trying to take her estate, make her a ward and throw her in a home. She had made some trouble down here in FL after her third husband passed and she was looking at loosing her freedom. The economy was still pretty good, 2006, we were looking for a change anyway, so we stepped in, moved down here, got grandma all happy and taken care of, and saved the family estate as there was no one else at that time who could've done it otherwise.
So, my wife got a teaching job down here, I went into real estate work for a lawyer out of Tampa, started getting back into music again, and all was well.
Then the recession hit. My wife had no tenure. She'd come out of the Catholic system. So when the lay-offs hit (500 in her county system alone), she was among the first to go (ironically, Florida can't find teachers now). So, I stepped up some more, got a good job with the census and got myself into the restaurant business, my only experience being a year or two when I was like 14-15 years old. But I worked my way up pretty quick. Horrible business, though. Terrible pay, hours, work, etc. I thought the music business was sleazy! Boy, did I find out what sleazy really was. But I'm a loyal and hardworking guy, and very physically strong and fast, so all in all it worked for me. Besides, I had no other skills that were particularly useful down here, and even my import/export experience was useless after that whole sector fell in half.
Then she gets sick. Almost dies. Spends 10 days in the ICU with a team of doctors from Gainesville convinced she was a goner for the first 7 days. No one knew what it was. Third-degree heart-block, water on the brain, double pneumonia, failing liver, failing kidneys. Turned out to be a one-in-a-million infection in her heart, caused by another infection that had been in her for years. The damage was done, though. She'd been getting sick for years and didn't know it. Multiple organ damage, brain damage, wasting away syndrome, you name it. She's been permanently disabled for years now.
So, over the next years we cashed out all our retirement and savings, trusts and everything else we had. Then a series of horrors attacks her family and her grandmother and mother die in short order, her father, the likely killer, finally killing himself earlier this year.
...
...
DeleteSo, then I get cancer. I would have had insurance this year, which would have helped a little, but I couldn't afford it. That's not so much a killer, because I qualify for Medicaid which is all this is anyway. The problem for me is income. I'm not "unemployed." I didn't get hurt at work. I just got cancer all of sudden. So, now I wait for disability, or, live very very poor and hope I can get back on my feet and back to work before we lose what little we have left. Thankfully, I have a great family and great friends, so it's not like I'm on the street or anything like that. Besides, unlike a lot of lefties, I'm not a wimp. I'm a tough son of %$#@! and I'm going to get through this just fine.
Your prayers and wishes are infinitely appreciated.
Love you too, ol' man! Merry Christmas!
JMJ
Jersey,
DeleteGod bless you and your family. When you get through this, you need to write a book.
I wish there was a way I could help, which was why I was trying to get ahold of you via LinkedIn.
Oh hey Silver! Well thank you so much for your thoughts! Jersey McJones is on LinkedIn!

Jersey, if you're brave enough to leave an email address, I'll get in touch with you privately. I don't dare do it, myself, because I am the target of so much hatred and derision, I can't risk blowing my cover. One SOB, who knew I was a serious piano player, threatened to come to my house and smash my hands wth a sledge hammer a few years ago. NOT a nice perish to say the least.
DeleteIf by any chance you are in such wth SilverFiddle by email, you can tell him it would be all right to contact me, if you feel like it.
Meanwhile, hang in there, take one day at a time, don't lose heart. You are well liked, despite all our wrangling.
It's just me at gmail! :) all one word. I'll keep my eye out for you.

Hey Free, are you being considered for a position in the Trump administration? You'd be a perfect fit. Possibly heading up a Department of Reeducation.
ReplyDeleteYes. I'm once of several being considered to become Master of the Dungeon in Charge of the Inquisition. How did you know? It wasn't supposed to get out yet.
Delete§;^D=
LOLZ!!! It would be beautiful to see you burning those arrogant asses with a red hot polker!

ReplyDeleteONCE AGAIN A MUCH-NEEDED REMINDER
ReplyDeleteWe welcome Conversation
But without Vituperation.
If your aim is Vilification ––
Other forms of Denigration ––
Unfounded Accusation --
Determined Obfuscation ––
Alienation with Self-Justification ––
We WILL use COMMENT ERADICATION.
Let us get Over 300,000 and take to the streets in NYC , and in other major cities taking a stand against Trump, and for climate change. All across the globe were similar marches. It takes the Liberals to make change, WE are the believers, the doers, the planners.. All change for the betterment of the world comes from The Left.
ReplyDeleteGoogle all the articles about the marches because the news shows are not talking about it. Read the comments too from the deniers, they are so ill-informed, a bunch of ignoramuses. Here's one I found..."This is a perfect example of how a bunch of misguided people can unite around non-essential causes in ways that won't affect anything. I'm sure your children's children's children will thank you for your bravery. Here's a cookie."
Thankfully the ignorant are a minority...I told her I hoped she would be buried by a blizzard sure to come to a state near you as early as next month
FINDING JOY and MEANING
DeleteIt's easier to bitch than stitch,
It's easier to whine than mine.
It's easier to make noise than to exhibit poise.
It's easier to say "I'm fucked," than to construct.
It's easier by far to stage a March
Than clean your shirts finished with starch.
To sit in the gutter counting your woes
In shit-caked jeans with a runny nose
Ranting in puddles of frozen piss
Demonstrates only that something's amiss.
So, in the bleak winter Go shovel some snow ––
...... Cheer up the aged
...... And those who are caged
. ...... Some joy you might find
...... If you read to the blind
. ...... Don't play the whore,
...... Instead scrub the floor
Now get up and go!
In summer, each lazy laddie
And each slothful lass
Should get off their ass
And go mow the grass.
Don't pout and make wishes
Just go wash the dishes.
If you need to find labor,
Go help your neighbor.
Demanding is easy
Producing is hard
Protests are sleazy
Thus saith The Bard.
EPILOGUE
There's always something you can do.
Don't succumb to feeling blue.
Salvation lies through helping others
Not thinking you deserve your druthers.
Never worry. Never fear.
Just do your best to spread good cheer.
Needed work is never done
Effort's where we find our fun.
And if you're old, and stuck at home,
You can always write a poem.
But if you find your mind in fog,
For Heaven’s sake DON’T start a BLOG!

ReplyDeleteI will continue to pray for your gravely endangered soul, Sue.
DeleteI sincerely hope "the Peace of God which Passeth All Understanding will Keep Your Heart and Mind through Jesus Christ, Our Lord."
May Love and Joy come to you this Christmas Season, and cleanse your heart of the corrosive hatred with which it now clogged and encrusted –– a hatred that doubtless will hasten you toward a painful, lingering demise.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Why must you censor the person named Sue?
ReplyDeleteI've left one or two of her comments. If you bother to read the comments, which I highly recommend, if yu want to benefit from this blog, you should see that that was MORE than generous of me. The woman is raving lunatic ideologue with a nasty mouth, and an obscene mentality We only allow rot like that to appear once in a while to illustrate the reason why we so adamantly oppose the Left.
