WHO IS THIS MAN?
He is nothing special –– just another myth for leftist iconoclasts to smash –– another target for them to abuse mercilessly in their fervent quest to denigrate the White Man while defaming and discrediting all that White Men have accomplished in order to deal the coup de grace to Western Civilization, and sweep it into the dustbin of history.
NOW MOVE ON. NOTHNG TO SEE HERE.
JUST BE SURE TO SPIT ON HIS IMAGE, AND MUTTER "YOU GOD-DAMNED BASTARD! I HOPE YOU ARE ROASTING IN THE HOTTEST CORNER OF HELL" BEFORE YOU GO.
FT,
ReplyDeleteZinnism in action!
I chose to post a poem about Columbus today.
What a brave man he was -- as was his crew! Talk about taking a leap of faith!
I've read that Columbus was a devout Christian, too. Yet another reason for the Left to hate him.
BTW, when you were searching for the portrait of Columbus, did you find any others? I haven't seen any, but perhaps you have.
Good morning, AOW! I decided to take an "oblique" approach rather than the traditional Veneration-Adoration v. Denigration and Dismissal this morning after having received a particularly obnoxious email citing an article about Columbus from that filthiest of leftists rags THRUTHOUT earlier today.
ReplyDeleteIn the interests of preventing ulcers and possibly worse, I have decided I will no longer tolerate the presence of putrid garbage either from the Left OR the Right any longer.
Few seem to realize anymore that Free Thinking and Freedom of Expression include the right to EXCLUDE the presence of elements one finds intolerable -- for WHATEVER reason.
I winnow out fully a third of all comments received every day now. I'd rather entertain very few worthwhile remarks tan a host of moral and intellectual detritus.
I never have -- and never will -- seek mere POPULARITY.
If you Google Christopher Columbus, any number of images pop up. You may click on those and comb through what's available. Most however, are segments or variations of the portrait posted at the head of today's "item."
Did you not find the famous portrait reversed to look leftward, shorn of it's costume and most of its extraneous hair to stimulate different ideas about who this man might really have been?
It's my contention that we are so distracted by the "trappings" surrounding historic figures we lose touch with the understanding that they were just human beings not unlike ourselves.
FT,
ReplyDeleteI asked about the portrait because, back then, such paintings were so often "airbrushed" so as to make the subject look quite different from his actual appearance.
I hope that you enjoy Joaquin Miller's poem at my web site. I love the lessons that it teaches -- not only history lessons.
FT,
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the reversal until you mentioned it. More coffee, please.

We refuse to allow ourselves to be forced into permanent Comment Moderation which seems to be the objective of the persistent incursions of one peculiarly spiteful little troll.
Obliterating the memory of Columbus is NOT their object. Obliterating the ideal inherent in his discovery... now THAT is another matter entirely.

Good on you, sir. I hope you stick to your guns.

Hear! Hear! Your policies are music to my ears, sir. You have my full support for whatever it may be worth. These blogging programs really ought to have an 'exclude' provision for bothersome individuals. Instead they force you either to accept garbage or punish everybody by using comment moderation. Frankly, either way that stinks out loud.
I heartily second what Dudley Dowell stated above.
ReplyDeleteCarry on, Free Thinke.
And don't let the bastards get you down!

ReplyDeleteHey! That ain't no guy. That's me mother-in-law dressed in her best going to funerals outfit. The wife's been trying to get her to ditch that lousy hat for years, but she she won't part with it. Says she wants to be buried in the damned thing when her time comes. We can't think why. Doesn't do nothing for her that's for sure. What a frump!
