“There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.”

THE BLACK VALUE SYSTEM
Trinity United Church of Christ Statement of Purpose (Later Suppressed presumably to Aid Obama campaign)

The Rev. God-Damn America and You-Know-Who

Mission Statement: What Trinity Is About
Trinity United Church of Christ has been called by God to be a congregation that is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that does not apologize for its African roots! As a congregation of baptized believers, we are called to be agents of liberation not only for the oppressed, but for all of God’s family. We, as a church family, acknowledge, that we will, building on this affirmation of "who we are" and "whose we are," call men, women, boys and girls to the liberating love of Jesus Christ, inviting them to become a part of the church universal, responding to Jesus’ command that we go into all the world and make disciples!
We are called out to be "a chosen people" that pays no attention to socio-economic or educational backgrounds. We are made up of the highly educated and the uneducated. Our congregation is a combination of the haves and the have-nots; the economically disadvantaged, the under-class, the unemployed and the employable.
The fortunate who are among us combine forces with the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mal-distribution!
W.E.B. DuBois indicated that the problem in the 20th century was going to be the problem of the color line. He was absolutely correct. Our job as servants of God is to address that problem and eradicate it in the name of Him who came for the whole world by calling all men, women, boys and girls to Christ.
THE BLACK VALUE SYSTEM
Statement of Purpose
We honor Dr. Manford Byrd, our brother in Christ, because of the exemplary manner in which he has thrice withstood the ravage of being denied his earned ascension to the number one position in the Chicago School System.  His dedication to the pursuit of excellence despite these systemic denials has inspired the congregation of Trinity United Church of Christ.  We have prayerfully called the wisdom of all past generations of suffering Blacks for guidance in fashioning an instrument of Black self-determination, the Black Value System.
And we shall, beginning in 1982, institute an annual Black Value System-Educational Scholarship in the name of Dr. Byrd.
This year, 1981, however, we recognize Dr. Byrd as the first recipient of the Dr. Manford Byrd Award which will be given annually to the man or woman who best exemplifies the Black Value System.
The Black Value System
These Black Ethics must be taught and exampled in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect the following concepts:
Commitment of God
“The God of our weary years” will give us the strength to give up prayerful passivism and become Black Christian Activist, soldiers for Black freedom and the dignity of all humankind.

Commitment to the Black Community
The highest level of achievement for any Black person must be a  contribution of substance to the strength and continuity of the Black of the Black Community.
Commitment to the Black Family
The Black family circle must generate strength, stability, and love despite the uncertainty of externals, because these characteristics are required if the developing person is to withstand warping by our racist competitive society.
Those Blacks who are blessed with membership in a strong family unit must reach out and expand that blessing to the less fortunate, especially to the children.
Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
We must forswear anti-intellectualism. Continued survival demands that each Black Person be developed to the utmost of his/her mental potential despite the inadequacies of the formal education process.
“Real education” fosters understanding of ourselves as well as every aspect of our environment.  Also it develops within us the ability to fashion concepts and tools for better utilization of our resources, and more effective solutions to our problems.  Since the majority of Blacks have been denied such learning, Black Education must include elements that provide high school graduates with marketable skills, a trade or qualifications for apprenticeships, or proper preparation for college. Basic education for all Blacks should include Mathematics, Science, Logic, General Semantics, Participative Politics, Economics and Finance, and the Care and Nurture of Black minds.
To the extent that we individually reach for, even strain for excellence, we increase, geometrically, the value and resourcefulness of the Black Community.  We must recognize the relativity of one’s best: this year’s best can be bettered next year.  Such is the language of growth and  development.  We must seek to excel in every endeavor.
Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
“It is becoming harder to find qualified people to work in Chicago”  Whether this is true or not, it represents one of the many reasons given by businesses and industries for deserting the Chicago area.  We must realize that a location with good facilities, adequate transportation and reputation for producing skilled workers will attract industry.  We are in competition with other cities, states, and nations for jobs.  High productivity must be a goal of the Black workforce.
Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
To accomplish anything worthwhile requires self-discipline.  We must be a community of self-disciplined persons, if we are to actualize and utilize our own human resources instead of perpetually submitting to exploitation by others.  Self discipline coupled with a respect for self, will enable each of us to be an instrument of Black Progress, and a model for Black Youth.
Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must keep the captive ignorant educationally, but trained sufficiently well to serve the system.  Also, the captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.
Those so identified as separated from the rest of the people by:
Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another.

Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.

Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us”.
So, while it is permissible to chase “middle-incomeness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method-the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness”: If we avoid the snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B.  And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright, the leadership, resourcefulness, and example of their own talented persons.
Pledge to Make the Fruits of All Developing and Acquired Skills Available to the Black community
Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions.
Pledge Allegiance to all Black Leadership Who Espouse and Embrace The Black Value System.
Personal Commitment to Embracement of the Black Value System - to Measure the Worth and Validity of All Activity in Terms of Positive Contributions to the General Welfare of the Black Community and the Advancement of Black People towards Freedom.

A Few Things You Ought to Know
about Mitt Romney

Full name: Willard Mitt Romney

Born: March 12, 1947. That makes him 65 years old.
Father: George W. Romney, was former Governor of Michigan
Raised in Bloomfield Hills , Michigan
Married to Ann Romney since 1969; they have five children... all grown sons.

EDUCATION:
B.A. from Brigham Young University,
J.D. and M.B.A. from Harvard University

RELIGION:
Mormon - The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints

WORK HISTORY:
Upon graduating from  high school, spent 30 months in France as a Mormon missionary.
After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar exam, but never practiced law.
In 1984, co-founded Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm, one of the largest such firms in the United States .
In 1994, ran for Senator of Massachusetts and lost to Ted Kennedy.
President and CEO of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
In 2002, was elected Governor of the State of Massachusetts where he eliminated a 1.5 billion deficit.

NOTEWORTHY FACTS ABOUT ROMNEY:
Bain Capital, started with one small office supply store in Massachusetts, and later became Staples. There are now over 2,000 Staples stores that employ 90,000 people.
Bain Capital also worked to performsimilar business achievements again and again with companies like Domino's, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot and others.
Romney worked as an unpaid volunteer for his fathers gubernatorial campaign for one solid year.
He was an unpaid intern in the governor's office of his father for eight years.
He worked as an unpaid bishop and state president of his church for ten years.
He functioned as an unpaid president of the Salt Lake
Olympic Committee for three years.
He took no salary and while Governor of Massachusetts for his entire four years in office donating the money to charity, instead.
He gave the inheritance he received from his father to charity.
Mitt Romney is one of the wealthiest self-made men in our country, but has given far more to others in terms of money, service and time than most men of wealth ever imagine doing.
In 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income. By comparison, Obama gave 1% and Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%.
Mitt Romney is trustworthy:
He hides nothing about his background
He is glad to show us his high school and college transcripts.
He will show us his Social Security card.
He will show us his law degree.
He will show us his draft notice
He will show us his medical records.
He will show us his income tax records.
All of this proves he has nothing to hide.
Mitt Romney's background, experience and trustworthiness indicate he has the potential to be a great leader and  motivator as President of the United States.
You may think that Romney may not be the most exciting candidate the G.O.P. could have selected:
But at least we can be sure who he is, and that he won't desecrate the flag, bow down to foreign powers,  practice fiscal irresponsibility, or hold secret meetings behind closed doors.
Mitt Romney has the ability to transform our current financial disaster into triumph. He will brighten the rpospects for our economic future.
We won't like everything we must do to recover from our downward spiral, but someone with Mitt Romney's business abilities can undoubtedly point us in more productive, fiscally sound direction.
He never took drugs, never smoked pot, never got drunk, never was on a first-name basis with communists or terrorists, nor did he attend a church openly hostile to our country.

We hope you already know the differences between the two men running for our country's top office.

Does the Obama-Biden ticket deserve four more years?

We don't think so.

But  of course, the only places they can consider cutting costs are Education, Police and Fire Departments according to both state and federal politicians.
Whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican or Independent, this list has to shock you. Over the years, these very same politicians have created this enormous pork  barrel of agencies that employ about as many people as the total population of  the State of Alaska. All of these people get salaries, medical coverage and  pensions at the expense of California citizens.

Pie Jesu

from the

Requiem by Gabriel Fauré

sung by

Barbara Bonney

More Beautiful Music in Memory of My Friend Carol

“In Paradisum” from Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem

Performed by The Robert Shaw Chorale
with the Atlanta Symphony

In loving memory of Carol, age 71, a childhood friend and schoolmate from first grade on who died of cancer early Friday morning. She was one of the Golden Girls of our generation –– a classic Nordic blonde –– a Cheerleader, Homecoming Queen, a member of The Eight Sharps (a girls octet, who sang fun popular songs in close harmony) and our high school a cappella choir. Carol was enormously popular with boys and girls alike. Every boy wanted to date her –– every girl would have given her eye teeth to look like her. Best of all she was as kind and good as she was beautiful.
Goodbye, dear Carol, it was a joy to have known you.

It’s the
BELLIGERENCE,
Stupid!

Heretics about to be burned at the stake

Recent discussions at Western Hero on the subject of biblical infallibility and how it relates to the punishment of sin and homosexuality in particular have prompted this article, which hopes to further examine the subject from an historical as well as a humanistic perspective.
The accompanying illustrations tell a story all their own requiring little textual amplification.

Two male lovers at rest

I do not believe the Scriptures are infallible and meant to be taken literally any more than I  believe the Church has been right in its blanket condemnation of homosexuality. The sheer viciousness, arrogance and barbarism of the Old Testament, the dour, pessimistic, anti-human Augustinian view of Christian doctrine, the grim, joyless life-denying aspects of Calvinism, and the smug, purse-lipped, puritanical prating of modern Evangelicals and Fundamentalists have done incalculable harm to untold millions of lives by fostering the kind of self-righteousness that leads to mutual suspicion, resentment, antagonism, official persecution, and the kind of virulent hatred that has often led to violence against those perceived to hold attitudes or engage in behavior proscribed and haughtily condemned by a few verses in the Bible.

Impalement graphically depicted

Having said that I agree that The Church –– and all the rest of us –– have an inherent right to be wrong -- in each other's eyes.
However, once upon a time –– and not so very long ago –– I would not have been able to issue a statement such as the one made above, which clearly implies that the Bible is ANYTHING BUT infallible and still expect to see the sun rise on another day.

Sawing sinners in half

There is nothing more evil than SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS, which is really nothing more than a pseudo-respectable venue for venting hatred, advocating intolerance and giving an official stamp of approval to Sadistic cruelty.

The Pear of Anguish was inserted into the anus of sodomites, the vagina of
adulteresses, and the mouths of heretics. It was capable of expanding to make
use of sharp knives contained inside designed to mutilate the body cavities of
offenders causing excruciating pain usually followed by infection and death.
