You'd be amazed, Ducky, at the varied responses I got after sending that image out to 70 people in an email last night.
ReplyDeleteThe way people respond to something like that says a great deal about them.
There are no "wrong" answers, of course, to a question like that, but it astonishes me how lacking in both humor and imagination so many people are.
I was hoping for a certain particular response, of course, but out of the seventy contacted only two came up with it, though many were relatively close.
What type of answers did you get, FT?

ReplyDeleteAnswers, Ducky? Mostly dull, plodding, literalistic stuff telling me that I must have put the wrong picture in the email, because my description made no sense at all in conjunction with that particular image.
ReplyDeleteOthers, however, were transported to a world of foolish, rhapsodic fantasy, and waxed embarrassingly "eloquent" about the brilliance of the unknown genius who painted with such bold, striking originality, etc.
It was screamingly funny, but at the same time I felt a bit cruel, because everyone I shared this with was someone I like and respect for many different reasons.
Another version of The Emperor's New Clothes, I fear.
It looked like a weather picture to me, but I have mistaken such images for modern art before. I wasn't embarrassed though, after all nature is capable of great beauty, is it not? :)

That said, it really would make a good modern painting transferred to canvas and greatly enlarged.
Just having a bit of fun for a change.
