Gee, I wonder why this subject never came up when George Bush was the President? I've said it before, and I'll say it again. In many ways, Obama is EXACTLY like Bush in most of his policies, but the Repubs turn a blind eye tp that. When Bush did these things he was “Keeping America Safe”..When Obama does them, he’s called all kinds of names and the Righties want him impeached for Treason. What Jokers you all are. Well, you know the rest...
And as for Fox news’s deranges way of reporting it, let's not forget that Ann Coulter has been advocating for the death of all Muslims for years. After the Boston bombing, she said she didn't care what Katherine Russell, the widow of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, knew or didn't know : "She should be thrown in jail for wearing a hijab." In just a few years, Fox News has done more damage to the Republican Party than anything else in recent history.
Thank you for your commentary on the subject. Although I don’t agree with almost anything you said, I respect you to saying these things; especially after the fact that you received many negative comments. Now for MY opinion: It's pretty stupid to think that this Ted Cruz could even be Presidential material. And I'm sure the GOP thinks any Black man will vote for him just because of his last name. So now being born in Canada is okay, even with a Cuban father, but born in Hawaii with a Kenyan father isn't? Small minded, indeed. Stay crazy my friends, that’s why you are losing. These bizarre right-wingers will conjure up any byzantine explanation as to why the Constitution gives a Canadian-born candidate the right to serve as a United States president. I understand now, Obama's not a natural born citizen, because he's black, but Cruz IS a natural born citizen, because he's white. I get it. The entire “Birther” issue was just another Fake Tea Party Racism Story. And I repeat the word “ANOTHER”
The Tea Party is group of racists old white people who cannot stand the idea of black man leading the U.S or heading the country. Most party tea party members are simply old, retired, frustrated white people who have a hard time dealing with America's changing demographics and leadership Let's be honest, most of the Tea party voters are angry at Obama not because of his policies, but because of his color of his skin. If they were honestly angry about Obama policies, they wouldn't have wanted to support Mitt Romney. Romney did not only believe in everything Obama is doing, he supported every one of them. From abortion, to gay marriage, Romneycare, taxes and etc, Romney held these positions and then he said was against them. But the Tea Party still wanted to vote for him anyway, well you see haw that worked out..
The same can be said about the people of Boston who locked themselves up in their homes and cowardly refused to go out into the Boston area’s streets. After a terrorist attack on their city, these people should have been out supporting their City and not giving into a couple of Terrorist KIDS! In my opinion they handled like "Cowards" under the lock down that day. But that’s the way Liberals are, BIG mouths and NO Guts..
Maybe the movie "The Hunger Games" was speaking about a future that was closer than we think, since it used these small drone types to harass those Hunger Games players.
Wouldn't those tiny drones be the perfect devices for population reduction and population control? Apparently the powers at the CDC have exhumed the DNA from bodies in graves that were victims the greatest epidemic of the last century, the "Spanish Flu", calling it today with the updated moniker H1N1.
Guess the Progressive thinkers would only say that our government knows best what's best for all, and would lay down the welcome mat for the globalist World Government (i.e. the New World Order touted by George Bush, Sr.)
Guitar Player, you are dead wrong abut so many things I won't even bother to try to argue with you or correct you, but thanks for at least addressing me with a modicum of respect.
I've been hoping to encourage us to drop all this reflexive partisan rhetoric, and try to see things from a more realistic vantage point.
Frankly, I think the Left-Right paradigm is outmoded. Waylon seems to understand what we are REALLY up against better than most. He and I have disagreed many times, particularly on certain cultural matters, but in this area I think his diagnosis is spot on.
And AOW, as usual, is quite right. These monstrous little robots are just more tools for tyrants.
I have no idea what is going to happen to us, but I feel very glad I am 72 and not 22 or 32 any longer.
Dear Free Thinke, please delete after you read this. I couldn't resist. I know...I know...
"Anonymous said... You are 72? No wonder you have that much love for Shaw, she always. Attracts hard-up old guys
May 3, 2013 at 10:29 AM"
Apparently I attract YOU, Anon, otherwise how would you know whom I attract and whom I do not? So you must be one of those "hard-up old guys yourself."
PS. There's nothing wrong with "old white guys." You ought to experience them for yourself--they're awesome. And afterwards they don't fall off to sleep, but rather keep women amused with their warmth, wit, and intelligence.
Actually, FT, I don't think you have a sense of what we're up against at all. Quite simply, it's a way of controlling privacy and with it our bet moments of being creative, rebellious or anything but good little predictable consumers. The government becomes more opaque and we become more visible until we lose our sense of individuality. ... but this is the way the world ends. Not with a band but a whimper.
I struggle with this idea myself because I spend a good fifteen hours a week going out and essentially violating peoples privacy even if they are in public.
Good God, Ducky, I'm so very weary of making the same bloody arguments over and over and over again to people like you who never want to admit the questions have all been asked and answered with perfect intelligence at least a thousand times. We're not even in disagreement much of the time, yet you persist and persist and persist in playing dumb, so you can give yourself some excuse to carry on trying to drive sane people nuts.
It's a splendid novella that tells us everything we've ever needed to know about where we've been headed since before Forster's time, and where we undoubtedly will end.
Even Orwell's work was derived from Forster.
The only way to survive is to live outside The System. Live inside your own head instead. It's always been the safest repository for your hopes, dreams and ambitions.
Only the artists, musicians and poets -- and our private loves -- are worth remembering. The rest very frankly is horse shit.
Thank you for that link, AOW. I've thought about publishing it here one chapter at a time, but since the prevalent desire in the blogosphere is to vent one's spleen by publishing mindless, pre-digested screeds and ask questions repeatedly that have already been answered thousands of times merely to provoke and annoy I've thought better of going to the bother.
The levels of patience, politeness and intellectual curiosity are so abysmally low in this milieu I am thinking more and more that any further participation is bound to be a complete waste of time.
There's something inimical in the very process of blogging, itself. It attracts and exposes the worst aspects of human nature.
I am damned tired of this kind of thing. Obama is a mentally-ill goofball. Absolutely nothing he says or does makes any sense, unless you are a follower of Saul Alinsky or that sick Black Liberation
FT, There's something inimical in the very process of blogging, itself. It attracts and exposes the worst aspects of human nature.
I've got a blog break coming up soon.
Thank God!
I'm not willing to quit blogging entirely. But I can't be obsessed with it now. Preaching to the choir, spinning my wheels, and enduring diatribes are wearing me to the nub and, worse, turning me into a misanthropist.
I don't disagree with your statement, but WHAT does it have to do with the development of robotic insect drones and spy cameras and ow they may affect our future quality of life?
I think these examples shown are as fascinating as they are horrifying. I can't be alone in that opinion, so i's a great mystery to me why NO ONE except our friend AOA, has bothered to address the topic.
Curiosity may have killed the CAT, but the LACK of curiosity and resultant ingenuity might very well signify the death of freedom for the human race.
Right now we are experiencing that famous Frog in the Pot Syndrome and it IS killing us -- slowly-but-surely.
Good night shirt what a display of nonsense this blog has become. I feel bad for you, FT. I know you're trying to do something good, and nobody cares. It must be frustrating as hell, but please don't give up. I enjoy your stuff even if I don't say much. I think lots of others feel the same way. So, chin up, and don't let the bastards get you down., okay?
IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING, YOU DON'T BELONG HERE, SO KINDLY GET OUT AND STAY OUT.
