CIA Broke the Law to Take Out its Critic General Flynn

February 14, 2017

Make no mistake: we have just witnessed an operation by members of the CIA to take out a high official of our own government.  An agency widely believed to have brought down democratically elected governments overseas is now practicing the same dark arts in domestic American politics. Almost certainly, its new head, Mike Pompeo, was not consulted.

Senator Chuck Schumer, of all people, laid out on January 2 what was going to happen to the Trump administration if it dared take on the deep state – the permanent bureaucracy that has contempt for the will of the voters and feels entitled to run the government for its own benefit:

New Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is "being really dumb" by taking on the intelligence community and its assessments on Russia's cyber activities.

"Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you," Schumer told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

"So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he's being really dumb to do this."

Or, as the old rueful saying has it, "you've got to go along to get along."  This means that we the people had better acknowledge that the bureaucrats have turned into our masters, and the old expression "public servant" is as ironic as anything Orwell came up with.  Schumer knows this and likes it, because the deep state wants a bigger, more powerful government, just as he does.

Note that the law was broken by whoever leaked the transcripts to the media.  Not only is the crime underlying the "scandal" being ignored, but the criminals are being hailed.  On Morning Joe's first hour today, the host, a former congressman (i.e., a lawmaker) himself, called the leakers "heroes."

This interference in domestic politics by the CIA should be regarded as a major threat to our democracy, but of course our Trump-hating domestic media are reveling in a major point scored against the new president.

David P. Goldman (aka Spengler), writing on PJ Media, explains the level of hatred the CIA has for Flynn for daring to take on its spectacular failures:

… the CIA has gone out of its way to sandbag Flynn at the National Security Council. As Politico reports: "On Friday, one of Flynn's closest deputies on the NSC, senior director for Africa Robin Townley, was informed that the Central Intelligence Agency had rejected his request for an elite security clearance required for service on the NSC, according to two people with direct knowledge of the situation."

Townley held precisely the same security clearance at the Department of Defense for seventeen years, yet he was blackballed without explanation. At DoD, Townley had a stellar reputation as a Middle East and Africa expert, and the denial of his clearance is hard to explain except as bureaucratic backstabbing.

... Gen. Flynn is the hardest of hardliners with respect to Russia within the Trump camp. In his 2016 book Field of Fight (co-authored with PJ Media's Michael Ledeen), Flynn warned of "an international alliance of evil movements and countries that is working to destroy us[.]

... The war is on. We face a working coalition that extends from North Korea and China to Russia, Iran, Syria, Syria, Cuba, Bolivia, Venezuela and Nicaragua." The unsubstantiated allegation that he presides over a "leaky" National Security Council tilting towards Russia makes no sense. The only leaks of which we know are politically motivated reports coming from the intelligence community designed to disrupt the normal workings of a democratic government – something that raises grave constitutional issues.

Flynn is the one senior U.S. intelligence officer with the guts to blow the whistle on a series of catastrophic intelligence and operational failures. The available facts point to the conclusion that elements of the humiliated (and perhaps soon-to-be-unemployed) intelligence community is trying to exact vengeance against a principled and patriotic officer[.] ... The present affair stinks like a dumpster full of dead rats.

Note that the suspicions eagerly being raised by the media center on Trump being a pawn of Putin and Flynn secretly pledging fealty or some such absurd subordination.  In other words, suspicions of treasonous behavior by the new president are being cultivated in the general public.  We can expect the media to fan these flames at every opportunity.

Spengler also explains why the Logan Act references are insulting:

Senior officials speak to their counterparts in other countries all the time, and for obvious reasons do not want these conversations to become public. The intelligence community, though, was taping Flynn's discussions, and the transcripts (of whose existence we are told but whose contents we have not seen) were used to embarrass him.

This last point is critical.  The entire "scandal" is based on innuendo.  Flynn tripped over his own feet by misinforming Vice President Pence on the nature of his call and allowing the veep to issue a too sweeping denial of any discussion.  If Flynn had said in his conversation with the Russian ambassador that we will discuss the sanctions after Trump takes office, he might well have told Pence that they did not discuss the sanctions.  And the CIA leakers could have used the appearance of the word "sanctions" in their transcript to brand Pence a liar.  We don't know, and for some reason, nobody is gaining access to the actual transcripts so that we may see the content.  Perhaps the congressional investigations to come will gain access.  But Flynn is now gone, and media memes have been firmly planted in the public mind.

The Flynn Affair is a huge scandal, all right.  But the media are misdirecting our attention toward the lesser dimension while they studiously ignore the real threat to our democracy.

Genera; Michel T. Flynn. Does he look like a traitor to you?

  1. Deep State or Party State?

"The formula of the Party-State, as the defining feature of twentieth-century Communism, thus needs to be complicated: there is always a gap between Party and State, corresponding to the gap between the Ego-Ideal (symbolic Law) and the Superego, for the Party remains the half-hidden obscene shadow which redoubles the State structure. There is here no distance, its organization embodying a fundamental distrust of the State organs and mechanisms, as if they need to be continually kept in check. A true twentieth-century-style Communist never fully accepts the State: there always has to be a vigilant agency outside of State control, with the power to intervene in the State's business." - Slavoj Zizek, "Living in the End Times"

    2. The American Deep State is currently bent around the excesses of global capitalism (via Corporatism), not Marxian principles. So until someone like Trump is willing to recognize and take on THAT problem, similarly corrupt deep Staters will continue to be placed into high positions to largely serve themselves.

    3. I would argue, FJ, that ANY form of highly-concentrated, CENTRALIZED POWER is inherently just like any OTHER form of the same. It really doesn't matter whether it's a THEOCRACY run by a brutally corrupt, self-serving STATE CHURCH, –– old-fashioned FEUDALISM coupled with MONARCHY when monarchs and landed gentry literally held the power of Life and Death over their subjects, –– "FASCISM," where the State owns and operates Industry, and a Strong Man acts as a Dictator, ––MARXIAN-COMMUNIST-SOCIALIST-FABIAN-PROGRESSIVE-LIBERAL-STATISM which is every bit as dictatorial and anti-Individual as Fascism, OR the modern CORPORATE STATE where extraordinarily rich Corporate Magnates, International Bankers (i.e. the Moneylenders), and the Owners and Suppliers of Raw Materials take hold of the Reins of Power worldwide, subvert constitutional principles, undermine democratic forms of governance, and destroy the sovereignty nation states with MONEY, and thus establish themselves as de facto monarchs and neo-aristocrats with all the inherent faults and abuses of the old Feudal-Monarchic system virtually intact.

ALL of it boils down to TYRANNY. ALL of these systems and methods of governance are roots and branches of the TREE of DESPOTISM, all are essentially HIERARCHICAL, and in ALL of them the INDIVIDUAL is held in contempt, treated as a mere pawn, and invariably is forced to serve the interests of his "leaders" almost always to his own detriment.

So in my view these academic distinctions amount to hair-splitting with avoid acknowledging that the truest Enemy of Mankind is the LUST to WIELD POWER and CONTROL over others.

    1. WIKI:

Flynn is a registered Democrat, having grown up in a "very strong Democratic family".[72] However, he was a keynote speaker during the first night of the 2016 Republican National Convention,[53] and he was a surrogate and top national security adviser for President Donald Trump.
During a July 10, 2016, interview on ABC News' This Week, when asked by host Martha Raddatz about the issue of abortion, Flynn stated, "women have to be able to choose."[72][73] The next day, Flynn said on Fox News that he is a "pro-life Democrat".[74]

Flynn has been a board member of ACT! for America,[63] and sees the Muslim faith as one of the root causes of Islamist terrorism.[32] He has described Islam as a political ideology and a cancer.[32][75] He stated in a Twitter post that "fear of Muslims is RATIONAL"[63] and included a video link claiming that Islam wants "80% of people enslaved or exterminated".[76]

Initially supportive of Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US, Flynn later told Al Jazeera that a blanket ban was unworkable and has called instead for "vetting" of entrants from countries like Syria.[63] Flynn has stated the U.S. "should extradite Fethullah Gülen" to Turkey and "work constructively with Russia" in Syria.[34][77]

In 2016, he said that he had personally seen photos of signs in the Southwest border area that were in Arabic to help Muslims entering the United States illegally. An officer of the National Border Patrol Council responded that he had never seen any signs delineating smuggling routes, let alone any in Arabic.[78]

  5. WIKI describes General Flynn's THIRTY-THREE-YEAR military career prior to being named National Security advisor by President Trump:

"Flynn's military career was primarily operational, with numerous combat arms, conventional and special operations senior intelligence assignments. He co-authored a report in January 2010 through the Center for a New American Security entitled Fixing Intel: A Blueprint for Making Intelligence Relevant in Afghanistan. In addition, Flynn served as the commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, chair of the Military Intelligence Board, Assistant Director of National Intelligence, and the senior intelligence officer for the Joint Special Operations Command. He retired with 33 years service in the Army, a year before he was scheduled to leave his position.

"On November 18, 2016, President-elect Donald Trump announced that Flynn would serve as National Security Advisor in his coming administration. As a member of the Executive Office of the President, Flynn did not require confirmation by the United States Senate. ..."

  6. The career elite will do anything to keep their jobs including bringing down the presidency. Politicians have three goals, spend our money for personal or political gain, figure out a way to get more and keep their job. NO politician will ever do something that is not in Their best interest.

DJT threatens their very existence because he is not one of the club members. He got elected without the support of his party or the elite political system and with great opposition from the fourth estate. He is unfiltered and not PC and is against everything the political system has stood for for decades if not centuries, corruption, self interest and a life long career.

Although I believe he should think before tweeting it does make for great headlines. Trump dominated the news for 18 months during the election and he continues to dominate the news because he does not bow in their presence.

The battle between President Trump and the various Establishments –– i.e. established leaders of Democrats and Republicans alike, –– the Enemedia, –– the Educational Establishment, –– the Entertainment Industry, –– vested Corporate Interests who not-so-secretly control Government –– and World Politics –– from the Shadows –– promises to be an EPIC BATTLE for the very LIFE'S BLOOD and SOUL of the United States of America, and, I believe, of all that is left of Western Christian Civilization.

Though it's extremely unfashionable to speak in these terms today, I see Mr. Trump as an Avenging Angel sent by God to destroy –– or at least deter ––the machinations of SATAN which have geld sway ever since we officially "turned our back on God, and allowed ourselves to be persuaded by The Great Seducer that God did not exist, but we could be our OWN "god."

Does this mean I believe Donald Trump IS –– and has alway been –– ANGELIC? Of course not! Quite the opposite, but we should bear in mind that "God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform," and that none other than Saint PAUL started life as a reprobate before he was selected by God to be one of Jesus Christ's most eloquent and powerful ambassadors in the task of spreading the Gospel.

  7. Donald Trump is going to have to be extra vigilant watching his back from now on. I thought Michael Flynn was one person within the trump administration that was a bit of an outsider politically. And that was a good thing, IMO. Now he's fallen on his sword.

He and his son both took a strong stand regarding Pizzagate. So today Hillary Clinton is smirking and chortling about the demise of Michael Flynn in the Trump administration.

Maybe the only "nuclear option" that Trump should consider is the ripping open of the Pizzagate scandal and its pedophiles in both parties to rid himself of a lot of his enemies, including John McCain and Lindsay Graham.

Michael Flynn: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

    July 10, 2016 - updated 2:01 am EST, February 14, 2017

    by Jessica McBride

Michael T. Flynn, the retired Army Lt. General who resigned from his position as national security adviser to President Donald Trump, is an outspoken critic of the Obama administration and “radical Islam.”

He is also a father, grandfather, author, and surfing enthusiast.

Flynn’s a lifelong Democrat, although he’s said recently the Democratic Party isn’t the party he once knew. …

The Washington Post, and many other national media outlets, once said that Trump was vetting Flynn, a registered Democrat … who has harshly criticized Hillary Clinton, as a possible VP choice for Trump. Trump picked Indiana Gov. Mike Pence instead, but gave Flynn a prime speaking slot at the Republican National Convention … Then, he made him national security advisor. At the convention, Flynn wasted no time in going after Clinton:

The New York Post calls him “outspoken and brash.” The Daily Beast reports he’s considered a “wild card.” Flynn is a critic of the Iraq War who was “sacked” by the Obama Administration.

... Flynn resigned from his position as an adviser to Trump after less than a month amid controversy over his ties to Russia.

Here’s what you need to know about him:

    1. Flynn Wrote a Book on Defeating ‘Radical Islam’ & Once Said He Was ‘At War With Islam’

Flynn published a book on July 12 called “The Field of Fight: How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies.” …

He also told Al-Jazeera: “We are at war with a radical component of Islam and the way I believe it is that Islam is a, is a political ideology based on a religion.”

    2. Flynn Was Born in Rhode Island into a Family of Nine & Was an Athlete & Lifeguard

Flynn’s parents, Helen and Charles Flynn, had nine children; one of his brothers, Charlie Flynn, became a colonel who commanded the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq during the surge, …

The brothers’ home town, Middleton, Rhode Island, named that September 6 “Generals Flynn Day.” The Flynns are the “first Rhode Islanders to serve as generals at the same time,” said NewportRI.com.

At the University of Rhode Island, Flynn studied management science and joined ROTC. He was commissioned as an Army second lieutenant when he graduated from college in 1981, the university says. He also has an MBA and graduated from the U.S. Naval War College, CNN said.

    3. Flynn Married His High School Sweetheart and Likes Cheap Cars and Pizza

Flynn married his high school sweetheart, Lori Andrade … The Flynns have been married for more than 30 years …

Their son, Michael, is now the chief of staff at Flynn Intel Group, according to his Facebook page; his father is CEO of the organization, which says it “provides elite intelligence services and solutions to industry and government worldwide.”

    4. Flynn Was Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency & Is a Registered Democrat Who Has Given Different Positions on Abortion

Flynn deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and served as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency from spring 2012 to fall 2014, The Military Times said. “He has worked as an adviser on Trump’s primary campaign in recent months,” said The Military Times, adding that the retired general has “33 years of intelligence experience.” …

On social issues, Flynn told ABC News that he supports a woman’s right to choose … However, a short time later, Flynn appeared to change his position on abortion, saying, … I believe in law. If people want to change the law, they should vote sowe can appoint pro-life judges. I believe the law should be changed.”

ABC said that he also “veered from the GOP platform” on gay marriage, by commenting: “What people do in their private lives, these are not big issues that our country’s dealing with,” …

    5. Flynn Was ‘Sacked’ By Obama & Has Claimed the Government Concealed the True Nature of the Terrorist Threat from the American People

Flynn is a good man, with a fine record. His only mistake hs been that he is not a game player, and insists in telling the truth, as he sees it ,regardless of the consequences.

"Leaks are illegal and hated by those in power (and their followers) precisely because political officials want to hide evidence of their own wrongdoing, and want to be able to lie to the public with impunity and without detection. That’s the same reason the rest of us should celebrate such illegal leaks and protect those who undertake them, often at great risk to their own interests, so that we can be informed about the real actions of those who wield the greatest power. That principle does not change based upon which political party controls the White House."

The unelected criminal bureaucrats who did this, did it for petty, vindictive reasons. They didn't save any lives or expose government malfeasance. They did it to subvert the constitution and the will of the people.

    2. "Hide evidence of their own wrongdoing ..."

Sounds pretty good, Jersey, but it all depends on how we define "wrongdoing." The Democrats –– and at times the Republicans too, we must admit –– want to point accusatory fingers at anyone who seeks to promote ideas and policies that run contrary to the partisan ideology and pet agendas of the opposition party.

To achieve this end fierce partisan bigots will strive to lie, distort, exaggerate, misrepresent, cheat, steal –– and virtually KILL –– anyone they believe stands in their way.

The idea of COMPROMISE has been dead for a long time.

The country was built from its inception on debate between opposing forces –– forces whose rhetoric often made their debates sound savage and unduly belligerent. This is nothing new, but even so, those opposing forces operated from the standpoint of a basic LOYALTY to the COUNTRY they ostensibly served. Regrettably, that is no longer true.

The term DISINGENUOUS constantly surfaces in my mind whenever these purely partisan campaigns to destabilize, confound, cripple and it -possible to topple an elected official, –– or in today's case, an ENTIRE duly elected administration –– that Democrats want us to believe they abhor –– PRIMARILY because the sweeping Populist victory of Republicans throughout the land has humiliated and frustrated them, and stymied their, I think, nefarious, anti-Constitutional, Collectivist, increasingly Authoritarian agenda.

And so the Democrats with aid of their partisan footmen, handmaidens, and commando squads that comprise the ENEMEDIA are now in the process of trying to turn a minor kerfuffle into WATERGATE REVISITED.

IF they succeed, the United States of America, as envisioned by her Founders, and as WE have known and loved it, will cease to exist, and quickly be supplanted by a "DICTOCRACY" administered by THE OLIGARCHS –– i.e. Big Money Men, International Bankers, Captains of Huge International Industries, Owner and Suppliers of Raw Materials and the selfish, short-sighted, venal Men and Women they BUY to do their bidding though official channels.

IF we allow that to that happen, because we are bended by idiotic, purely-partisan considerations, the government OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people truly WILL "perish from the earth."

    3. Señor Espiando,

You approach this from an idealistic, didactic, hortatory and legalistic standpoint. Unfortunately, human beings are complex creatures that rarely-if-ever conform to the norms that get codified into Law.

At Nuremberg we more or less agreed that it was in fact a CRIME punishable by DEATH to OBEY the LAWS in ONE's COUNTRY when those laws aided and abetted wickedly cruel, immoral policies.

Of course these terms get to be defined only by the WINNERS of a conflict. The losers are ALWAYS either killed outright, or shamed, severely punished and made to "Eat Crow."

Much as I hate to admit it, the dictates of REALPOLITIK –– the only reality extant in the realm of governance –– tell us over and over and over again that, like it or not, Might, does, indeed, make Right.

Ergo, if the D'Rats are permitted to succeed in their unwarranted, unprincipled, totally disingenuous ATTACK on President Trump and his administration, THEY WILL succeed in DESTROYING whatever shred of DEMOCRACY may be left in our representative republic, and thus WILL become our SUZERAINS for the foreseeable future –– a horrifying prospect.

Therefore, I, –– as an admitted partisan heartily in favor of Maximum Freedom for the Individual and Minimal Interference from Government –– fully support President Trump's potential use of ANY MEANS –– fair or foul –– to RID his Administration of this accursed Infestation of Partisan Termites that have taken it upon themselves to attack and destroy the Trump White House.

I am sorely disappointed that President Trump did not stand his ground on the matter of Michael T. Flynn. Dyed-in-the-Wool Leftists are nothing more than A SHIVER of SHARKS, and when they see or smell blood in the water ...

A CANARD (in case you don't know, or have forgotten) is a false or unfounded report or story; especially a fabricated report –– a groundless rumor or belief disseminated for partisan political purposes –– a grossly exaggerated fact or factoid aggressively presented as "solid evidence" of a "serious misdeed,"when in fact the "offense" involved is either trumped up, or trivial and inconsequential.

As one of Obama's final acts just as he left was the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomatic employees on US soil. Wouldn't that be a reasonable topic of conversation in any communication between the Trump administration and Russia? That this should be twisted by the media as something approaching treason by Michael Flynn or other members of the Trump administration is obscene.

It should be apparent that Obama is not finished in his treasonous actions committed over the several actions he's been involved in against his own country. Where will it end? Who will act against him?

FT, that may be a tad extreme but it may come to that if the problem is not nipped at its present stage of cancerous development.

    3. Waylon,
I wonder if it would be advantageous to Trump if he released the transcript(s) of Flynn's conversation(s) with the Russian diplomat?

    4. AOW, I think it's a good thing to get the truth out. But it may be too late for Michael Flynn. I think Trunp should have supported him rather than see him go.

    6. Trump PROBABLY should have stood by Mike Flynn?

      NO!

INDUBITABLY he should have stood by him! Not doing so is President Trump's FIRST mistake.

      ];^}>

PS: I would love to be able to review those transcripts, myself, but since I know the vicious games lawyers and legalistic, literalistic thinkers are capable of playing, I doubt if it would be wise. Those characters could –– and WOULD –– make The Sermon on the Mount sound like a snarling Curse from Beelzebub.

    1. Yes Kid. That is exactl7 what President Trump said in his freewheeling news conference yesterday. "Mike Flynn us a fine man who has been treated very unfairly by the dishonest media. He did nothing wrong in his relationship with Russia. He was just doing his job there, but the way he treated the vice president was wrong, so he had to go," was more or less what DJT said.

The role of the media is SUPPOSED to be to INFORM, instead –– ever since the Sick-sties that culminated in Watergate –– they have taken it upon themselves –– or been ORDERED too by The Oligarchs who own and operate them –– to OPPOSE and ATTACK perpetually anyone or any idea that does not support the Internationalist (Globalist, Communist, Corporatist) agenda.

Only another feeble-minded fool could possibly respect him.

  22. When former President Barack Obama said he was “heartened” by those rioting anti-Trump protesters he was sending a message of approval to his Comrades in Arms . Yes, Obama has an army of professional agitators numbering more than 30,000 — who will fight his successor at every turn of his historic presidency. And Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.

In what’s shaping up to be a highly unusual post-presidency, Obama isn’t just staying behind in Washington. He’s working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration and its popular make America Socialist agenda.

He’s doing it through a network of leftist nonprofits led by Organizing for Action. Normally you’d expect an organization set up to support a politician and his agenda to close up shop after that candidate leaves office, but not Obama’s OFA. Rather, it’s gearing up for battle, with a growing war chest and more than 250 offices across the country.

But YES you are correct about Obama's determination to CONTINUE fulfilling his Evil Agenda –– namely the Dismanting of the United States of America.

Leftists have NO RESPECT for the LAW, unless than can USE it by TWISTING its intended meaning to aid them in fulfilling their relentless campaign of Defamation, Misrepresentation and Wanton Destruction.

  24. Liberals cannot accept the fact that a Republican somehow “stole” a Presidential election that they thought they had in the bag for lying career criminal Hillary Clinton. Instead of trying to help unite our country and coming together around democratically elected Donald Trump, they have been busy “protesting.”

They have been stamping their feet angrily in marches and holding up “clever” smug liberal signs. In a truly gross turn of events, they decided that it would be cute to knit thousands of knit pink “pussy hats” that vaguely resemble female genitalia and wear them on their heads like idiots. Now these “pussy hat” wearers just got a jolt of harsh reality.
It’s one thing for adults to wear these offensive hats, but apparently some liberal parents ave been dressing their young daughters with these genitalia hats as well. According to reports, Pierson Middle-High School in Sag Harbor, New York was recently caught selling these hats as well as vulgar posters to young children.
